Tori Interview on HX.com (May, 2007)

    Monday, May 14, 2007 | 20:02 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

[Tash is] a film buff, so she watches movies and she starts playing the scenes from the movies on her keyboard. She’ll start changing it, saying, “I think it would have been better like this.” I’m not a good parent if I don’t support her, but I’m certainly not Mama Rose.

Roel forwarded us this interview with Tori from HX.com, in which Tori talks about Tash, feminism, and beaded jumpsuits. Check it out.

Tori Interview in the Melbourne Age (May 11, 2007)

    Sunday, May 13, 2007 | 22:46 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

“Women sometimes think that to be liberating, they are going to get their bits out and show these guys a thing or two. But you’re playing right into their hands when you start disrespecting yourself, and it’s not necessarily sexy when you’re crawling out the back seat of an SUV and everything’s hanging out.”

Aunt Sally wrote in to tell us about an article in the Melbourne Age that focuses on ADP, Tori and her career:

    Tori Interview at Spinner.com

    Sunday, May 13, 2007 | 22:38 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

“I see women on the beach with children, and they might not get noticed by everybody, but there’s something in their eyes,” she says. “There’s an understanding, an experience of life, the way they sashay down the beach … I don’t know how a woman tastes, but I know how a woman thinks, and, quite frankly, there’s so many women that I would love to turn out.”

In honor of Mother’s Day, Spinner.com chatted with Tori about the notorious MILF lyric, moms and sexuality. Check it out:

I go into the steam and sauna and lock the door and I put on music and I dance my ass off! But I’m a terrible dancer! Terrible. — Tori Amos

In a web exclusive interview for Newsweek Entertainment, Jac Chebatoris gets Tori to talk about dancing, wine, Tash, and coping with promotion. Cheers to Toni for the heads-up!

Tori Article In MetroLife (May 1, 2007)

    Thursday, May 10, 2007 | 21:24 UTC | Posted by Violet | Articles

There’s almost an alternate reality in the States, where you can be very removed from what’s happening in the rest of the world.

The following article appeared in the May 1, 2007 edition of MetroLife, wherein Tori discusses politics (surprise!), American Girl dolls, rock gods, and of course the Posse. Thanks to Sara, Emma + Andy, and Barbara for providing the various pieces.

    The All-American Doll
With five alter-egos performing tracks on her latest album, the incisive singer-songwriter talks to ARWA HAIDER about why she had to use different characters

Tori Amos/Patrick Wolf Feature in The Advocate

    Wednesday, May 09, 2007 | 23:17 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

Blonds are flighty, brunets are sensible, and redheads strong-willed and crazy. Or so stereotypes would have us believe. Neither Tori Amos nor Patrick Wolf puts much stock in conventional attitudes, yet each has carved out a niche as distinctive as their carrot-topped counterparts Aphrodite, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Peppermint Patty.

Dane sent us a scan of this article, called “Scarlet Fever,” from the May 8, 2007 issue of The Advocate. While it manages to get several things incorrect, it’s still pretty fun. Almost as fun as being a redhead is.

Tori's "When You Were 17" Interview

    Wednesday, May 09, 2007 | 20:32 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

    Dear 17-year-old self,

I know you spend a lot of your time wishing to be older. You will be, trust me. The focused need to achieve will serve you well. However, being able to laugh could also serve you. You won’t stop making mistakes. There is no shame in an honest mistake. Not everyone is deserving of friendship. So why extend a hand of friendship to someone who is not prepared to uphold their end of the bargain? It’s better to be alone with your piano than stuck with a so-called friend who undermines you when they can get away with it. Friendship cannot be a one-way relationship. As for boyfriends? Well, what you find attractive now will bore you once you discover the definition of what a “bad boy” truly is. Respecting women and consequently not needing to verbally abuse women to feel powerful, these are truly the sexy bad boys. You will marry one.

    Hugs,

    T

P.S. Don’t cut your hair for the “Just Right” commercial.

Franco sent us this amusing and informative interview Tori did with Seventeen in which she reflects on her teenage years. Who knew she was allergic to nuts?

    Tori interview in the Advocate

    Wednesday, May 09, 2007 | 19:33 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

“Ecstasy has to be e plus e, erotica plus eloquence. And it has always been the eloquence that they’ve tried to remind me to keep because the first without the last is just—it can be a sad story, a bit tragic.”

Emmanuel sent us this interview posted May 8 on The Advocate’s Web site.

    Tori Article in Brisbane Mail

    Saturday, May 05, 2007 | 20:15 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles

“I’d been reading different books on the psyche and how we as women all have these ancient character types in us. Before Christianity became the central ideology the women were much more complex, so I was really drawn to this. We have different percentages of these women in us, but every woman can apply this to them. I’m just showing you my process.”

Aunt Sally sent in the link for this article, which ran in the Sunday edition of the Brisbane Mail in Australia.
