American Doll Posse Pre-Orders Begin To Pop Up

    Thursday, February 22, 2007 | 12:41 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Thanks to Darrell for letting us know that a listing for American Doll Posse has been added to HMV.co.uk and that they are now taking pre-orders for the album. A release date of April 30th is show, which is consistent with the May 1st release announced earlier this week (Tuesday in North America translates to Monday in the UK). Unfortunately, no cover art has been posted yet but, as we all know, the online CD stores are often sources for such things so it would behoove us to keep an eye on HMV, Amazon, and so forth.

CeDe, a Swiss online store, also has a pre-order listing for the album as well.

    At Last! New Album News!

    Tuesday, February 20, 2007 | 14:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases,Touring

According to Rolling Stone’s Rock & Roll Daily, Tori’s new album is entitled American Doll Posse and will be released on May 1st! They have also posted a new photo of Tori in which she holds a Bible, has the word “shame” written on her left hand, has what might be a fish under her left heel a left shoe with a broken strap, and is bleeding down her leg. Not to mention a new look and the long-rumored high heels! (Click on the thumbnail for a larger picture.)

A world tour in support of the new album will start on May 28th in Rome, Italy.

Stay tuned … more information should be forthcoming within the day!

Update: PerezHilton.com has a larger version of this photograph and an uncropped version which shows more the house behind Tori.

    Incidental New Album News: Mastering!

    Wednesday, January 24, 2007 | 15:16 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

A Lighting & Sound International article about Close To The Edge Studios mastering engineer Jon Astley’s new AML1 studio monitors includes a statement that he will be taking them out to Martian Engineering “for use in the on going project with Tori Amos.” Considering his capacity as a mastering engineer and history with Tori—he has mastered all of her records since From The Choirgirl Hotel—it’s safe to assume that the new record is approaching or in the mastering phase now. (The meat of the story on LS&I is pretty interesting too—at least to gearheads like me—but I suspect that most Undented visitors are most interested in that one sentence!)

Speaking of Martian, their latest news item effuses love for the new Korby KAT microphone system that they are using. Since the only project being worked on at Martian is Tori’s next record, it’s pretty clear that this system is being used for it. (Saar’s eagle eyes caught this one.)

    Billboard Lists An April Release

    Sunday, January 07, 2007 | 19:43 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Billboard has posted an article listing release dates for albums in 2007 and while no exact date or album title is given, it does indicate Tori’s next studio album will be released in April! (No foolin’!) Tori has said several times that the next record would be out in the Spring, so this makes sense and, one would hope, Billboard should have some concrete basis for stating this. Hopefully, there will be new information about the next record to share soon.

Thanks to Nancy for bringing this to our attention!

"Jackie's Strength" in "Sisters in Song" Compilation

    Saturday, November 11, 2006 | 21:29 UTC | Posted by Beth | Cherries,Releases

Get out your Lilith Fair t-shirts! Die-hard Tori collectors will want to know about “Sisters in Song,” a compilation produced by Somerset Entertainment and Rhino Special Markets and sold exclusively by Hallmark (yes, the greeting card company) in its stores. The collection includes “Jackie’s Strength” along with a boatload of other lady songstresses. The tracklist is as follows:

    1) Lisa Loeb, “Fools Like Me”
    2) Sarah Harmer, “Don’t Get Your Back Up”
    3) Shawn Colvin, “Matter of Minutes”
    4) Kathleen Edwards, “Good Things”
    5) Vanessa Carlton, “Ordinary Day”
    6) Aya Peard, “This Mess”
    7) Natalie Merchant, “Kind and Generous”
    8) k.d. lang, “Helpless”
    9) Tori Amos, “Jackie’s Strength”
    10) The Corrs, “Runaway”
    11) Antigone Rising, “Don’t Look Back”
    12) Cherie, “I’m Ready”
    13) Kasey Chambers, “Not Pretty Enough”
    14) Jane Siberry, “Calling All Angels”
    15) Toby Lightman, “Everyday”

“Sisters in Song” came out in June, but we didn’t find out about it until an anonymous fan tipped us off in September. It then took Hallmark’s peeps more than a month to dig up the tracklist and cover art for us.
