Additional Gold Dust DVD Details From Decca

    Wednesday, August 29, 2012 | 12:49 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Based on JB HiFi’s listing, we already had a clear understanding of the contents of the DVD included in the Gold Dust deluxe edition. However, Decca Records has shed a little more light on it in their catalog entry for the release, including a more complete track listing along with times for each:

    1. Flavor 04:23
    2. Gold Dust 06:18
    3. Behind The Scenes Of Flavor 04:03
    4. Credits 01:35

So, it looks like the behind the scenes footage is solely for the “Flavor” video as opposed to, say, the whole album. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the tracks and times for the CD in the deluxe edition are identical to those in the regular release, at least according to Decca.

Thanks to EarWithFeet for alerting us to this update on Decca’s site!

    So, About That Video Shoot...

    Thursday, August 23, 2012 | 01:49 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

At the end of the spring, Tori was spotted in several places around New York city — and more than a few photographs were snapped by curious on-lookers — but it wasn’t completely clear what was being done. The general consensus, based on a casting call posted on a talent website, was that there was a video being shot though, once the Gold Dust gallery with photographs by Danielle Levitt was posted on ToriAmos.com, some wondered if it had actually been a photo shoot.

However, all is made more clear now courtesy of a post on Danielle Levitt’s Tumblr: it was a video shoot and she’s producing a video for “Flavor.” As she says,

“We had a lot of Fun on set with Tori and her team. We spent 2 days running around NYC from Brooklyn to Chinatown, to West Village, to Washington Sq Park …having all sorts or crazy adventures from skaters, gospel women from Harlem, drag queens, break dancers, sexy motorcycle men, club kids, a transcendentalist, and 2 very adorable little girls, to make the most epic New York centric video!!!!!!!

    “Can’t wait to premiere it.”

There’s no word when the video will be shared but as we wind down towards the release of Gold Dust at the beginning of October, we expect it’ll pop out sooner than later.

ToriAmos.com Opens The Gold Dust Gallery

    Tuesday, August 14, 2012 | 00:43 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

A new gallery for Gold Dust has been added to ToriAmos.com, featuring four photographs from “the Gold Dust photoshoot.”

Two of these photographs we’ve already seem, as posted on Girlie Action, but two are new. All, of course, are taken by Danielle Levitt. Check ‘em out!

Gold Dust Update: New Promo Photos, Track Times, Possible Press

    Friday, August 10, 2012 | 01:43 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Today brings a number of Gold Dust odds and sods which we’re rounding up in one article. Hopefully this will be the first of many such posts as we draw closer to the album’s release at the start of October.

First, Girlie Action, who handles Tori’s press, television and media relations, has added a new biography and two new promotional photos to their client page for her on their website. Be warned though: when we tried accessing their website, we got a warning about it being infected with a trojan horse so you might want to shy away from their site for the time being. Thumbnails of the new images are below; click on them for very high-resolution versions images of the images from Girlie Action’s website (direct links to images bypass that trojan so those are safe to view). Both images were taken by Danielle Levitt, the same photographer who shot the Gold Dust cover photo.

Second, Decca Records has updated their artist page for Tori. In addition to adding the motorcycle image to the page header, albeit in a smaller, lower-resolution form than the ones from Girlie Action, they’ve also added track times for the songs on Gold Dust. To wit:

    1. Flavor 04:08
    2. Yes, Anastasia 04:17
    3. Jackie’s Strength 04:32
    4. Cloud On My Tongue 04:23
    5. Precious Things 04:44
    6. Gold Dust 05:45
    7. Star of Wonder 03:46
    8. Winter 05:45
    9. Flying Dutchman 06:21
    10. Programmable Soda 01:27
    11. Snow Cherries From France 03:01
    12. Marianne 04:08
    13. Silent All These Years 04:33
    14. Girl Disappearing 04:06

Finally, Amazon.com has added listings for the regular and deluxe editions of Gold Dust — you may remember they were previously on Amazon.co.uk but not on Amazon.com. Curiously, the two listings are flagged as “imports,” but both have a release date of October 2nd, the release date for the US and Canada and their prices, while a little on the high side, aren’t quite import prices either. So, we tend to think these are probably the domestic releases, just mislabeled.

Update: Yup, the import tags have been removed from both listings.

In any case, what’s more interesting about the listings is the “editorial review” which reads suspiciously like PR for the album, including a few quotes from Tori as well some insight into the selection of songs included on Gold Dust. The copy on Amazon is all one monolithic block of text so we’ve reproduced it after the jump, with our best guesses as paragraph breaks. Check it out!

Deluxe Gold Dust Details From JB HIFI

    Friday, August 03, 2012 | 11:03 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

While there’s been no mention of a deluxe edition of Gold Dust on ToriAmos.com, at least one retailer mentioned the existence of such a beast back at the beginning of July, indicating that it would be a CD/DVD package but offering no other details.

Australian retailer JB HIFI, however, does detail the contents of the deluxe edition in their listing for the release. According to them, the bonus DVD will include a music video for “Flavor,” a performance clip for “Gold Dust,” and behind the scenes footage about the record. Additionally, the limited edition package will include a 32 page hard cover booklet.

They also indicate that the Australian release date for the album, both the regular and deluxe editions, will be Friday, October 5th — and that date is now also listed on ToriAmos.com.

Gold Dust Track Listing And Cover Artwork Revealed

    Monday, July 30, 2012 | 18:41 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

ToriAmos.com has announced the track listing and cover artwork for Gold Dust, the career retrospective album Tori recorded with The Metropole Orkest slated for release this coming Autumn.

The collection’s songs are culled from her twenty years of releases and include:

    1. Flavor
    2. Yes, Anastasia
    3. Jackie’s Strength
    4. Cloud On My Tongue
    5. Precious Things
    6. Gold Dust
    7. Star of Wonder
    8. Winter
    9. Flying Dutchman
    10. Programmable Soda
    11. Snow Cherries From France
    12. Marianne
    13. Silent All These Years
    14. Girl Disappearing

The album’s release dates have also been confirmed by ToriAmos.com and are consistent from those indicated by some retail sites’ early listings: Friday, September 28th in Germany, Monday, October 1st in the UK and EU and Tuesday, October 2nd in the US and Canada.

Gold Dust Listed At Some Retailers

    Tuesday, July 10, 2012 | 01:39 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Neither ToriAmos.com nor the Gold Dust press release mention the album’s release date, just saying that it will be coming out in October. However, several retailers have added the album to their websites and they are far less mysterious in their listings.

German retailer JPC has the album with a release date of Friday, September 28th while UK retailers Play.com and Amazon.co.uk both have it with a release date of Monday, October 1st. Amazon.com doesn’t have the album listed yet but, assuming the above holds true and the usual international pattern is followed, the North American release date would most likely be Tuesday, October 2nd and we’d expect it to be either Friday, September 28th or Friday, October 5th in Australasia. Time will tell of course but then in this new age of advance streams and leaks, things are more fluid and an exact date may not matter much.

Update: Brian also points out that JPC.de is listing a limited CD/DVD release for Gold Dust. No additional details are provided.

None of the sites have cover artwork included in their listing, though Play.com does have a cropped version of Danielle Levitt’s promotional taxi photo. There’s no additional text so we tend to think that’s just a placeholder image for the short-term. As with the final release date, though, we shall see…

Thanks to Darrell and Luke for catching the JPC and Play links!

We'll Hold Gold Dust In Our Hands

    Monday, June 11, 2012 | 03:42 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases,Touring

Tori’s thirteenth studio album has just been announced on ToriAmos.com!

Entitled Gold Dust, it is a career-spanning collection of her songs re-worked in an orchestral setting. With arrangements by long-time collaborator John Philip Shenale, the project with recorded with The Metropole Orkest, with whom Tori performed in Amsterdam in October 2010, under the direction of conductor Jules Buckley.

The complete tracklist hasn’t been made public yet, but a press release from Mercury Classics/Deutsche Grammaphon gave us some hints regarding which songs will be included, and how they’ll be different from the originals:

Beloved gems like “Silent All These Years” and “Precious Things” take on new life alongside lesser-known treasures such as “Flavor” and a number of tracks underwent significant reworking when adapted for orchestra. Almost autobiographical in structure, the songs represent stories culled from Tori’s own life relationships: “Jackie’s Strength” is about her relationship with her mother, “Winter” is about her father and grandfather and “Snow Cherries from France” is about her husband.

Gold Dust is slated to be released in October 2012 and will be supported by a limited orchestral tour of Europe and the United States. So far, three dates have been announced: Rotterdam on October 1st, Brussels on October 2nd and Warsaw on October 13th, with tickets for the Warsaw show going on sale on Monday, October 11th at livenation.pl (the purchase link is there now).

As more details and dates are shared, we’ll be getting them posted as quickly as we can!

Update: Tickets for Warsaw are on sale now at Eventim.

Tickets for Brussels will go on sale at 11:00 AM CEST on Friday, June 15th.

Tickets for Rotterdam go on sale on Saturday, June 16th at 10:00 AM CEST.
