More Unconfirmed Details About The Philadelphia Concert

    Friday, July 20, 2007 | 01:52 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Alicia points out that the Y-Rock Concert Calendar includes the October 15th concert at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby (just west of Philadelphia) with an on-sale date of Friday, July 27th. I looked there yesterday and was pretty sure it said at the time that the on-sale date was Saturday, July 20th (as we reported earlier) so either my reading comprehension is worse than my memory or Y-Rock changed their calendar. Or both. Either way, thanks Alicia for catching that!

Change In Israel Concert Start Time

    Wednesday, July 18, 2007 | 09:24 UTC | Posted by Violet | Touring

Ido tells us that the NRG web site has published an announcement from Tori’s concert management saying that Tori has decided to cancel the Rayden warm-up on the Israeli show and will start the concert half an hour earlier in order to “give the Israeli audience a whole night of Tori experience.”

So the Ra’anana show will start at 21:00 instead of 21:30.

Update: Yishai points out that, according to what’s in the NRG article as well as other Israeli press, the concert will actually start promptly at 8:30 PM.

More Possible Tour Dates, On-sale Date?

    Tuesday, July 17, 2007 | 01:48 UTC | Posted by Beth | Touring

Undented reader Hank received an email today from Y-Rock, a Philly-based radio station, announcing that Tori will play Oct. 15 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia/Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. It says — get this — that tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Saturday. Guess it’s time to thaw out our credit cards!

Also, we notice that Ticketmaster removed its Oakland listings from this morning. Again, nothing’s certain until the Tori camp says so, but it sounds like we’ll get a better sense about the North American leg of the tour very soon!

    The first U.S. Tori dates?

    Monday, July 16, 2007 | 18:31 UTC | Posted by Beth | Touring

As of this morning, Ticketmaster is showing two upcoming Tori dates at Oakland’s Paramount Theater — December 7 and 8, 2007. No on-sale or pre-sale dates are listed yet. Devin sent this in after spotting it today; keep checking their site to see if more listings emerge. Of course, nothing’s official until the Tori camp says it’s official. But we’d be lying if we said we weren’t squeeing just a little.

    Tori featured on Bosey site

    Friday, July 13, 2007 | 05:35 UTC | Posted by Beth | Touring

We know that Tori and the piano-making dudes (and dudettes) at Bösendorfer have had a long-standing love affair with one another. It isn’t news that Tori played in Vienna, Bösendorfer’s headquarters, on June 8. But Jamee tipped us off to the fact that the pianomakers have also written a news item about Tori’s show. We especially like the “T&Bö” symbol illuminated on the curtains. Together forever, eh?

    Radio Suisse Romande's Montreux Coverage

    Thursday, July 12, 2007 | 12:31 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Radio Suisse Romande has been covering the Montreux Jazz Festival on their festival blog and have posted a few articles about Tori.

The first, if I can trust my crusty language skills, is a preview of Tori’s concert and includes an interview with Tori which you can stream or download. Tori’s answers are somewhat difficult to hear as a translation was overdubbed, but you can still make out some of her responses if you listen carefully.

The second is an interview, with streamable or downloadable audio, with a Tori fan at the meet & greet.

And the third is a review of Tori’s performance this evening at Auditorium Stravinsky.

If anyone would care to translate these posts to English for us, we’d be happy to post them here to share with everyone.

RSR has posted several photographs of Tori from before and during the concert in their photo gallery:

Jan Sundström points out that the photographer of the previous two pictures has posted the first image on Flickr and explains how he came upon Tori before the concert.

Montreux: Tori Takes Santa With Her

    Thursday, July 12, 2007 | 00:30 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tori played the Montreux Jazz Festival this evening. Santa opened the concert with her usual set of songs, including “God”, but the real news of the evening is that, after having it on the setlist a couple times but not playing it, Tori debuted “Take Me With You”, one of the new songs from A Piano that had never been played before! The full setlist comes from EverythingTori and is posted on our Montreux page. And, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed I’m about to say, if you attended the concert, please use the form at the bottom of that page to let us know what you thought of the performance!

    US Tour Not Delayed

    Wednesday, July 11, 2007 | 11:09 UTC | Posted by Violet | Touring

Recently, Ticketmaster has been telling fans that Tori’s US tour has been delayed.

This has caused confusion and is not quite accurate.

When Ticketmaster told people in June that the pre-sales had been delayed until July, they were making a ballpark estimate for promotional purposes. Their guess wasn’t quite as on-the-mark as they’d hoped, leading them to now report that things are “delayed.”

So the delay is only regarding the start of the Ticketmaster pre-sales. We have confirmation from management that the tour itself is on schedule.

Where and when the US dates will be — and when they will go on sale — we don’t know. But as soon as we hear anything at all, we’ll definitely post about it.

T is for Tori and Santa In The Park

    Monday, July 09, 2007 | 14:51 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Santa played the first half of Tori’s set at the Pet Sounds Arena at T in the Park on Sunday. We don’t yet have a complete set list, so if anyone can provide one, that would be appreciated. EverythingTori has posted the setlist, which was a shortened festival gig. If you braved the mud and rain at Balado, please feel free to post your review of the show using the form at the bottom of the T in the Park concert page

Marae tells us that 26 minutes of Tori’s set (the “Tori” part, not the Santa part) were broadcast on BBCi earlier today.

Incidentally, The Scotsman gave Tori some good press in their review of the festival:

To those inquisitive enough to check out the Pet Sounds arena, there was a storming set by a resplendent, gold catsuit-clad Tori Amos to savour, while those who chose to shun the big stage headliners were treated to an intimate session with Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice.

Update: The Scotsman giveth and The Scotsman taketh away. Paul Whitelaw’s perception of Tori’s set was not as charitable:

Elsewhere, Tori Amos’s decision to make a five-minute costume change halfway through her hour-long set was seriously misjudged. She treated us to two of her Bowie-esque “characters”, namely Pauline Fowler and Cyndi Lauper if appearances were anything to go by.
