Roll Your Own Rough Trade Webcast

    Wednesday, April 30, 2014 | 11:41 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

While the webcast of last night’s in-store at Rough Trade might have left something to be desired, the cellphones of several people in attendance most assuredly do not! Check out these Youtube videos of the show — and jump the cut for the rest.

TV Alert: Kate Couric Welcomes Tori!

    Wednesday, April 30, 2014 | 02:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Ladies and gentlemen, set your VCRs/DVRs/PVRs/whateVRs! Tori is the musical guest on Katie on Wednesday, April 30th!

Airtimes and channels that the program is shown on vary from location to location, so check your local listings or the show’s station finder to find out if can watch the show. Looks like quite a bit of video is archived on their site so hopefully the appearance will be posted there for anyone who is unable to watch it on television.

This little teaser video for tomorrow’s episode, which primarily deals with the hefty topic of sexual assault on college campuses, is up on the show’s website. Tori gets a mention at the end.

Reminder: Rough Trade In-Store Webcast Today!

    Tuesday, April 29, 2014 | 12:47 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Update: The in-store’s in the bag, as they say. The live stream started off great, including all of a spine-tingling performance of “Parasol,” but it was pretty much a bust after that, cutting in and out as their servers wilted under the Slashdot effect-like load of all the world’s Toriphiles. Our understanding is that the rest of the set included “Strange,” “Trouble’s Lament,” “Selkie,” “Ribbons Undone,” and “Take To The Sky” (with the infamous “Datura” bridge). If we missed anything and/or if you were there and would like to share your impressions of the evening, please let us know!

Not that anyone would forget, here’s your reminder that Tori will be doing an intimate in-store at Rough Trade NYC in Williamsburg, Brooklyn today at 7 PM Eastern.

While admission is limited to the lucky few who won tickets from SPIN and the early birds who are/were able to get down to Rough Trade this morning in person and pre-order Unrepentant Geraldines, those of us unable to be there will be able to see the performance as it will be webcast by SPIN.

Tune into that link a little before 7 PM Eastern to enjoy the show!

Listen: Soundcheck Session (April 28, 2014)

    Tuesday, April 29, 2014 | 00:29 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Audio of Tori’s live in-studio performance for WNYC’s Soundcheck is now available to stream and download. They’ve promised video as well though that has yet to be shared. Not-so-curiously, the original webcast used “Giant’s Rolling Pin” as the bed music for the introduction, but that was replaced by “Winter” and a re-recorded intro for the archived recording — hope you got to hear the limited edition deluxe release!

The half-hour session includes three live performances — “Trouble’s Lament,” “Selkie,” and “Crucify” — as well as an interesting discussion with host John Schaefer about the new album, the songs she played, and her relationship to the songs she’s written.

The Light Princess also came up during their conversation and Tori confirmed that the orchestral pieces are complete and the vocals pieces will be worked as schedules allow, with the recording being released next year. She also gave hope to the possibility that the production would be brought to the United States someday though that sounded still quite a ways off and far from a forgone result, though we certainly hope it pans out!

Update: The video has been added:

New York, It's A Helluva Town!

    Monday, April 28, 2014 | 16:27 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

We’re behind on site updates (obvs!) but here are a couple time-sensitive news items (and bear with us, we should get caught up with everything else later today).

First, SPIN is giving away five pairs of tickets to Tuesday evening’s in-store at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. To get in on that contest, you’ll need to follow them on Twitter and retweet this tweet. Winners will be selected later today, so be quick!

Fortunately, if you don’t win passes — or aren’t lining up tomorrow morning to pre-order the album in person to get a wristband — you can still see the performance as SPIN will be live-streaming the event on SPIN.com starting from 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Second, Tori will be on Soundcheck on WNYC this afternoon. Listen live on the web at 2pm. The performance will be broadcast during the program which airs at 9pm on WNYC 93.9 FM and online at wnyc.org.

Update: The live session is running behind but should be starting soon.

Update: The stream is under way at 2:15 pm Eastern!

    Radio Appearance Ahoy!

    Wednesday, April 23, 2014 | 13:16 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Update: Both of these interviews are available online to listen to. The BBC Radio Stoke one is on iPlayer and starts around the 30 minute mark. Meanwhile, an extended version of the Minster FM interview is available for streaming and download from the Listen Again page.

Just a quick update to let everyone know that two pre-recorded radio spots will be broadcast today. First, at 1:30 PM BST (about 10 minutes from when this is being written!), James Watt will air his chat with Tori on BBC Radio Stoke. Second, her conversation with Alex Brown will be aired on Minster FM at 2:30 PM BST (about a hour and 10 minute hence). Both stations stream online and BBC Stoke, at least, archives their programs you should be able to catch them after the fact as well.

    Watch Trouble's Lament On C à Vous!

    Wednesday, April 23, 2014 | 11:18 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

The kind people at C à vous have shared footage of Tori performing “Trouble’s Lament” on the program yesterday evening. It’s been posted at Dailymotion and “Youtube”;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SH69XxWwHuo. Fortunately, the latter can be viewed by all — enjoy!

    Experimental Geraldines

    Wednesday, April 23, 2014 | 01:14 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases,TV/Radio/Web

Another week brings another teaser clip — the fourth — from what we presume to the be the interview included with the Unrepentant Geraldines bonus DVD. In this very brief snippet, Tori addresses her need to experiment on the new record and her hope for how the songs on it will be heard.

    Upcoming Europe 1 Radio Appearance

    Wednesday, April 23, 2014 | 01:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

In addition to appearing on French radio and television programs aired today, ToriAmos.fr reports that Tori also recorded a spot for the program On connaît la musique on Europe 1 radio.

The broadcast date has not been announced but the show airs on Saturday evenings from 11:00 pm. Fortunately, the program is archived so once we know the air date, anyone who misses it should be able to give it a listen afterwards.

Thanks again to Marie for the tip!

If It Is Tuesday, This Must Be Paris

    Tuesday, April 22, 2014 | 13:50 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

As one can tell from the picture Tori posted yesterday on Instagram, etc., she’s in Paris promoting the album. She swung by the studios of France Inter today for a solo piano performance of “Trouble’s Lament” and a wee interview on On va tour y passer with André Manoukian.

You can stream the program from their website andt he show is also available as a podcast via iTunes and RSS. (Here’s a direct link to today’s show). Tori’s segment start during the 44th minute.

Update: Or just listen to it here:

Also, as Clément and Tori Amos France informed us, Tori will be on C à vous on France 5 tonight! That television program starts at 1900h.

Update: Video of the appearance on C à vous should be available on Wednesday, courtesy of the program.

Merci beaucoup to Clément and Marie for the help!
