A recent entry on Isabel’s blog discusses the evolution of “Devils and Gods”, including the lyrics to the expanded version of the song, as it is being performed on tour:

Songs have different timelines concerning when they show themselves in a completed form. On the album version of “Devils and Gods” on ADP, the song seemed to be complete at the time of recording. Things began to change when rehearsals commenced. The drummer, Matt Chamberlin, began developing a primal rhythm, which created a space for the song to develop. Just to put any lyric confusion to rest the correct lyrics are printed below. Feel free to pass these along in order to correct misinterpretations.
