    1. Chris says:

Awesome show. FYI she played Precious Things between Fast Horse and SBV in the usual spot. For whatever reason they turned off the Lizard Lounge lights for Josephine this time.

Good crowd for the most part with some very strange people around me. A very loud argument between some obnoxious guy and his girlfriend that lasted most of the show, children of about 6-8 yrs standing on their seats repeatedly almost cracking their heads open with no intervention from the parents and lots of other loud talkers who got really indignant when people asked them to be quiet. It was like all the people who had never been socialized (like in the movie “Walk like a Man”) were in my section!

Improv before a beautiful version of Taxi Ride was about Kevyn Aucoin and his “giant disease”. He suffered from acromegaly a condition where your head, hands, and feet become very large because of abnormal production of growth hormone in the brain.

She sang “rise above” over and over at the end of Strong Black Vine. Such a highlight of these shows.

Doughnut Song was really spectacular, and Horses was nice (one of my absolute faves) but kind of a watery version.

She did a nice job of having minimal overlap with the Radio City set…

Only one instance of the chronic problem of the wrong mic being off, at the beginning of Precious Things.

      Can’t wait til next time!

I drove to the count basie show in new jersey, yesterday, I made it in time for the meet and greet as well. the show last night was excellent. highlights for me were, hotel, beauty of speed, strong black vine, bliss. all in all the show was excellent. I also had attended her show in miami, orlando, indianapolis, and for me this show was the best.

      looking forward to boston.

    3. Chris says:

I haven’t seen Tori since Scarlett’s Walk tour. This show had great energy, and the crowd was totally pumped. It seemed like she was in a great mood, all smiles. All of the tracks from the new album sounded great. I was toward the front, and some of the lighting really needed to be adjusted – I spent quite a bit of time with my eyes closed because the lights were really blinding.

      My highlights:
Siren – I totally didn’t expect to hear this song, and its one of my absolute favorites.

Taxi Ride – acoustic during the Lizard Lounge (after she made a joke about looking like a bee, or perhaps a taxi…she was dressed in black and yellow)

Precious Things – she totally rocked this one, and got a standing O at the end.

The encores were really the icing on the cake for me. Never expected to hear either one of these and the audience was totally into it.

The only thing I missed was that she didn’t really spend much time talking to the audience as she’s done in prior years. I always love hearing her stories ;)

    4. Lorraine Eakin says:

Red Bank was another lovely show. It was a more intimate venue than usual, and that affected her attitude and playing a bit, I think. She was super energetic and cheerful – lots of big smiles and silliness (in a good way). She said she could think of nothing better than going from Radio City to Red Bank.

      – Before the band intro, she mentioned talking to her mother that morning, and her mom said that she remembered Tori playing Red Bank in ’94, and Tori corrected her (it was ’92). And her mom said something like “Well I remember walking up and down that place as you were singing, and you tell the folks in Red Bank that Grandma Mary is there with them in spirit!” That got a big reaction from the crowd.

      - Horses was wonderful, but I think she screwed up the words a bit.

      - During the intro to Glory, she pretended to drive her “wannabe Mustang” – super cute!

      - As we know, she pretty much always plays the crap out of Siren. Well, tonight she played the crap out of it differently. I don’t have the language to describe what she was doing musically, but during one of the instrumental bits she and Matty were doing almost a call-and-response thing, similar to how they do the bridge in PT now.

      - She really belted the bridge in TIYH and didn’t wimp out on the “maybe I ain’t used to…” bit. It rocked!

      - Hotel/Doughnut Song – Genius.

      - Before TR she said “I did something silly today. What did I dress like?” and the audience yelled “A bee!” and she said “and what else did I dress like?” A taxi, of course. The vids for Taxi Ride on the internet really don’t do it justice – it was SO BEAUTIFUL and sad on just the Bosey – it’s the way that song was meant to be played. No tired backing vocal, no set tempo boxing her in, no nonsense – just T and the piano. It was sooo moving, I can’t even explain it. I guess the folks in Dallas know (was it Dallas where she played it solo before?). AMAZING.

      - Boys in the Trees and Josephine were lovely as always.

      - Tori pretty much gave me a coronary when she started BW as the first encore – the whole song I was concerned that it would be the only encore – nooo!!!! The audience was really into it – everyone was on their feet dancing and enthusiastically joined in with the “don’t you forget” bit.

      - Whew! More than one song for the encore – TTTS is a good place to end a show. The audience enthusiastically clapped along to this one too.

      Red Bank loved Tori!

    5. Tom M. says:

It was great that Tori was playing so close to my house. This show was one of the best I’ve seen. She was in a great mood and the set list did not have a bad song in it. Solo Taxi Ride was heart-wrenching and beautiful. Of the four times I’ve seen Doughnut Song, this was the best with a long intro and intense emotion. Love the version of Precious Things on this tour with the extended jam in the middle. Josephine is possibly my favorite song on Venus and is such a treat to hear live.

    6. _SassyBritches_ says:

For the first time since 1992 I went to a Tori show by myself. Turned out to be a great idea! I witnessed a magnificent show and I was able to just be in my own world, enjoying the show for my own private memory, lol.

Taxi Ride is nowhere near a favorite song of mine, however, the performance of the song on Friday night was THE highlight of the evening for me. More powerful, heartbreaking, and inspiring than anything else during the show. Also, i’m just loving the mildly tweaked version of Precious Things and did i even mention Pandora’s Aquarium? A-May-Zing!!! And Tori works it out during Strong Black Vine (I thought I was gonna need a moist towelette to clean up a “spill in row E”).

Thanks to Pam, who was sitting next to me and proved to be a great concert buddy. Also, thanks to Tori for finding a way to remain exciting, inspired, and fabulous for all these years. It felt like October of 1992 all over again for a few hours there.

    7. Deanna V. says:

WOW is all I can say. She really pulls out all the stops for small venues, doesn’t she? This was probably the best show of the tour, and I’m sure many people would agree.

Beauty Of Speed – I was so hoping to hear this! I never saw it last tour. The drums were fantastic. On of my favourites of the night.

Horses – Not exaggerating: the most flawless singing I have ever heard in my life. This performace was so ethereal and haunting.

Tear In Your Hand – Yay! I was hoping to see this at some point his tour. Very solid. The “Maybe it’s time…” part was beautiful and sad.

Doughnut Song – I really loved this arrangement. Very beautiful and dark. You could tell she was putting all of her emotion into it.

Taxi Ride – She did a weird little improv at the beginning about giant’s disease. This was ridiculouly beautiful solo. Brought a whole new dimension to this song, which has never been a huge favourite of mine.

Boys In The Trees – Really beautiful and unexpected. I had never fully listened to her version, or the original for that matter, so it was nice to hear something completely unknown to me. Really beautiful.

Josephine – I was sooooooo happy to hear this! It was gorgeous and a huge surprise for me.

Not Dying Today – I couldn’t believe I got to see the debut of this awesome song! The crowd was really into it, much to my surprise. I guess everyone secretly loves NDT! This was very solid and close to the album version.

Take To The Sky – No one-song encore! I was thrilled. She was having the time of her life during this. What an experience.

The songs I didn’t mention were ones that I have seen before – but literally every song was perfect tonight. She was in top form. I am so glad I didn’t miss this stunning show!

    8. Christian says:

One of the better setlists of the tour.

I still wasn’t a fan of Not Dying Today, it seemed off but that may have been because it was her first time and there seemed to be difficulties.

This is my least favorite tour due to the setlists but she seems to be really happy when playing.

Taxi Ride, Give, Horses, Doughnut, Precious (never gets old to me after years and years of shows) and Josephine were all my highlights.

Shoes this show were by Christian Loubitian. My favorites were still the YSL shoes in LA.

    9. Karen (ziz) says:

I don’t even know what to say. I decided to go on a weekend trip just to see her. I’m from Mexico City and I have admired her from a long long time ago. This waiting to see her playing live was worth it. I was shocked at every song she played.

I loved the beautiful surprises of the night, like Tear in your hand and Taxi Ride, because I was checking out days before the setlist she played, trying to figure out what I could expect.

Those were a very very special shows (I went to Philadelphia too) and I came back home wit a big smile on my face.

      Amazing!!
