The show was fantastic. Tori was full of energy and seemed excited to be in NYC. The covers were phenomenal. Only complaint: the audience. People were talking the entire time and getting up and down nonstop. Four girls a few rows behind me were extremely drunk and talked the entires time very loudly. At one point they threw their drink and got ice all over the aisle. I have seen 30 Tori shows and this was one of the worst audiences I have ever experienced.

I just came back from a wonderful and very emotional show. Tori looked marvelous in turquoise and was full of energy, and the deliver of the songs felt very personal. I had never attended a solo show of her (I saw her in 2007 and 2009), and she basically sang all the songs I had hoped she would (Siren, Blood Roses, Mother, Little Amsterdam, iieee) so it really felt intimate and special.

My favorite segment was the Bells for Her-Pandora’s Aquarium-Oysters-Siren sequence. Her vocals were absolutely flawless.

Beauty of Speed and China are not necessarily songs that I like a lot, but live they sounded great. I like that she performs Bliss solo, but I have to say it does not work quite well, it feels a little rushed even thought the energy is great and I love how she bangs the piano. That was perhaps the weakest moment, but even that was enjoyable, which goes on to say a lot about the quality of the show. Mountain on the organ is such a treat!

When she said she would perform these two songs for the first time and then began singing George Michael’s Faith, I knew she would do a mash-up with Fayth. It was great, the crowd loved it.

I have been hoping that she would cover Lana del Rey’s Video Games, and tonight she did a snippet of Blue Jeans, which I love too. I think she couldn’t get into the rhythm of the song though, so she dropped it after a few verses. I do hope she makes another attempt though, it would be great to hear the entire song.

Hey Jupiter was particularly emotional, and Raspberry Swirl was fun! Mr. Zebra came as a nice surprise, compensating for the lack of debuts. But two shows in New York is special enough, we don’t need a debut necessarily.

There was a slight New York theme too, she sang Pandora and China. I wouldn’t be surprised if Garlands shows up tomorrow. I was really hoping for Fast Horse (my favorite song from the Fori eras), but that song might wait for Tennessee it would make more sense.

I really can’t wait for tomorrow’s show, I am convinced it will be as amazing.

    3. Nivek says:

A really good show last night. She was definitely excited and beamed a smile through most of the night. The set list was great, as can be seen, but lacked some of the harder numbers. Eh, can’t complain, she’s great live.

Oh, and to the jerk in the upper left balcony who screamed and interrupted almost every song, including the touching ending of China, you’re a huge a-hole. And if you go to a Tori concert again, skip the drinks. You stumbled and sat in someone else’s seat and security came to “talk” to you. You know who you are. Why they didn’t kick you out, I don’t know, but you had real fans yelling at you to shut up. Be considerate. We paid to see Tori, not you act like a fool and show how much you “LOVE” TA. Especially when your drunk ass yells, “Ah looove uh Torah.”

And I agree with J, it was a really, really lousy crowd last night. SO inconsiderate. It almost makes me not want to see her live anymore, because that kind of nonsense just ruins the vibe Tori’s trying to set. Scream and drink like an alcoholic in your living room. NOT at a live show.

Can’t wait for the second NYC show!

Very good show – her vocals are so strong this year; it’s fantastic.

I was so glad to hear Little Earthquakes, Parasol, and Mr Zebra live. Mother was touching, and Blood Roses REALLY worked well with the tempo she uses on this tour. It was really hard to hear her on Cornflake Girl, and I’m so sad that there weren’t Scarlet’s Walk tracks in this particular show, but I’m sure the lucky fans who attend the 2nd show tonight will get a few! She does need to chat more with the audience, though – she seemed rushed the entire show (curfew?).

To echo the other reviews: This was one of the worst audiences ever. At the beginning, it was so loud which I thought meant it was going to be a really energetic concert but no – screaming mid way through songs, talking, etc. Two guys next to me were lifeless and didn’t applaud at all. The moron who shouted from the balcony constantly had terrible timing and was a complete distraction. To the horrible woman taping the entire show on her phone three seats from us in ORCH seats: You ruined our night. My partner went to the bathroom once in the show, and she wouldn’t let him return to his seat, blocking the row while she taped IIEEE. I had to literally pull her arms down so he could get back to his seat and enjoy the show. I’m sure to others this looked like I was causing trouble, and I apologize for the disruption, but even those who record the show should have some respect for those who paid for their seats. It’s not like we were drunk or getting up and down constantly.

    5. Rebecca says:

Amazing Tori set! She sounds better than ever and seemed to be having a great time. The Faith/Fayth combo was pretty incredible.

I want to echo the problems with the crowd. I was in the second balcony and the talking in between songs was so loud that I often couldn’t even tell what song she was doing at first. You used to be able to hear a pin drop when she was on stage. I know I’m older, too, but many of the worst offenders seemed my age, not like a new crop of teenage fans. I have floor seats tonight so hopefully it’ll be a little better. What on earth is the point of spending money on a concert ticket when you don’t even pay attention?

Still, the set list was magical and I can’t wait for tonight!!!
