    1. orfeo says:

Quite simply, this is the best Tori concert I’ve ever seen.

It wasn’t an easy ride, though. It was somewhat darker in tone than the previous night in Melbourne, but then the genius of Tori is that the concerts can be radically different. There was great intensity and passion in Bliss (which ended with a SAVAGE slap of the piano), and parts of Little Earthquakes and Spring Haze. Oysters was mesmerising, Pandora’s Aquarium was wonderfully loose and Father Lucifer was witty.

Secret Spell was a major highlight because of the way Tori shaped the song, holding back in some parts before bringing a real sense of triumph to the second half of the chorus. Roosterspur was delicate, with a distinct sound on the keyboard, and Fearlessness was dark and turbulent. The encores were perfectly chosen to round out the varying moods and narrative of the set.

The whole thing was masterful from beginning to end.
