    1. Philippe says:

I was truly impressed. This is my 5th tori show and by far the best. I didn’t get the setlist I wanted, but I was impressed nonetheless and often (very often) surprised by how the songs sound live.

      Highlight :

      - Sugar (perfect, as always)

      - cornflake girl (amazing solo and interactions with matt)

      - Digital ghost (amazing buildup, 1000 times better than the album version)

      - T and BO : completely mesmerizing. Perfect voice. Garlands was the most touching solo song I’ve ever heard her perform.

      - Precious thing (highest energy level in the evening)

      - Professional widow : band was so tight and groovy

      -hey jupiter (always a highlight)

      What I missed:

      - anything from Venus

      - siren and Liquid diamonds :(

What I didn’t like – isabel is my least favorite doll and I wasn’t too much into her set. But she definetly had some great moves, good moments and a very unique presence and voice (you could feel the difference when tori showed up ! )

    2. Pascalp says:

simply amazing! We were the first to know that she got a tattoo here in montreal! hahaha, that little improv that I would call ‘when you’re around french speaking people’ was just absolutly the best. Lots, LOTS of love to Tori.

    3. Jessica says:

Tori was mesmerizing, as always. Performing at Place des Arts was a wise decision; as a concert hall, it’s much more conducive to her sound, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I found the set list very similar to that of the show she played here in 2002. I was ecstatic to hear Playboy Mommy and Sugar, and Garlands was a wonderful surprise – definitely one of the high points of the evening. Oh, and I was IN LOVE with Tori’s jumpsuit.

    4. An old fan returning... says:

I’ve been less than enthusiastic since Scarlet’s Walk. Not that the music isn’t good, perhaps I’m just in a different place. Live, I find that the mix of drums + base + guitar kind of drown out the piano. I do miss the woman-at-her-instrument thing.
Anyhow, of the past 5-6 years, Garlands is by far my favourite and I was thrilled to hear it last night. And the tattoo improv (as I remember it) was a story about how French speaking people incite a person to do surprising, sexy things like get a tattoo on your lower back, which Tori did in Bora Bora on her way to Australia (she didn’t say when… sounded like it was during her first tour) – apparently some French guy did a tattoo for her, and we were the first to learn of this, other than “Husband” of course.

Anyhow, Purple People had been on my mind all day yesterday, and I had hoped she would play it – she didn’t, but Isabel did come out dressed in purple so I was happy about that!

    5. Gabriel L. says:

Even if I’ve been a fan since 1994, this was my first Tori show. I was completely amazed, I loved every second of it. The musicians were all wonderful, the sound was thick and rich, Tori’s voice got better and better, stronger, firmer and also thicker as the show went on. I didn’t think the arrangements for Almost Rosey and Playboy Mommy highlighted the songs’ delicate beauty but that must be my only critique. I was amazed at how Tori keeps so agitated and dynamic although she’s got to be seating and playing keyboards. She is such a professional. The lighting was mesmerizing. Sometimes, as during Garlands, you could just stare at the stellar sky right in front of you and dream with the music. Beautiful.

I would say highlights for me were Devils and Gods (can’t get it out of my head now), Tombigbee (although we could barely hear the keyboard), Scarlet’s Walk (I never expected this one, it’s just so beautiful). Of course, with Sugar I started crying. Her voice really soared and the song is so powerful live, I mean when you are attending the concert (not live on cd necessarily). Baker Baker of course turned on the faucets again. It was gentle, so fragile. Spark and Code Red really kicked major ass, especially Code Red (Wow!). For the encore, everyone stood up (and stayed up till the end). Of course, Precious Things rocked my ass off. In Tear in Your Hand (I think), she did a wrong note and then smiled wide like “Oops”. It was funny. Of course Hey Jupiter ended the concert perfectly, and left me soaked-face.

I really enjoyed also that the crowd was so responsive and polite. No one screamed like stupid idiots (like on some live records I heard before ; I was worried). Only one woman yelled at some point: “Goddess!”. It was so ridiculous, I think everybody thought the same, how stupid it is to shout something like that. But hey. It didn’t ruin this wonderful experience which I will never forget.

    6. Alex says:

I must confess: 2005 “Summer of Sin” show at Bell Center really disappointed me. But, Wow! last night’s show at “Place des Arts” definitely rocked! The fully loaded venue was absolutely perfect for the event. The whole crowd was simply mesmerized by the atmosphere created by Tori and her brilliant crew!

Although Isabel was far from being my favorite “doll”, I totally enjoyed her performance. The theatrical thing really worked for me. I simply surrendered to Tori’s silly twisted mind! I particularly enjoyed Isabel’s rendition of “Yo George” with the band, and was thrilled to hear “In the spring time of his voodoo” and “Scarlet’s walk”.

Then the “real” Tori took the stage, infusing the entire building with her energy. Her whole set was brilliant, except maybe for “Garlands” and “Tear in your hand” which did not really worked for me last night… Definite highlights of the night for me: the always so powerful “Sugar”, a heartbreaking rendition of “Baker Baker”, the charming “C’est Bon” improv (Don’t worry Tori, we’ll keep your lil’ secret!), and the energy loaded “Precious things”. (to name just a few!)

Tori really seemed to enjoy herself last night, constantly smiling at the crowd and “dancing” on her piano bench. I remember her leaving the stage really fast in 2005. But last night, she took time to shake some hands, waved and smiled at us, and even did a cute lil’ dance while leaving the stage! She truly looked like she had a great night, and so did we!

I rushed at my computer this morning to download the “Legs and Boots” recording of the show, so I can remember these moments forever! Thanks again Miss Amos!

    7. Isabel says:

WOUÉ!!! Quel excellent show! I was hoping for Pip or Isabel, so, YESSS! Isabel was absolutely beautiful. I was a little disappointed she didn’t do more sweet songs like Cooling and such, but on the other hand, that means it was a very rock’n‘roll show, and I loved it! Oh the BAND! This was my first show with the band and it really sounded great. Place des Arts is a great spot. And I don’t know Garlands a lot, and I have to say it was really beautiful last night.

Someone please post pictures! I’d really love to have some pictures to remember this night from and the ones who come with the bootlegs are from soundcheck so…

I loved the people there. Lots of love! Hihi!

    8. Julie says:

It was my favorite show this year! Place des Arts was created to enjoy a Tori show!!! The sound was amazing, truly…

Isabel is the only doll that I don’t like, but this performance made me take my words back! An incredible setlist…Devils and Gods, Scarlet's Walk that was enough to slam me down to my chair mesmerized.

I grab everyone around me because of Spark and yes I cried… and Playboy Mommy was a beautiful surprise. I missed Northern Lad but in the end, it was a brilliant show… and the jumpsuit…whoah!

      Got myself a “I don’t mind a dirty girl” shirt… :)

    9. Ben says:

I absolutely loved this show and I much prefer Tori with her band. The only thing I didn’t like was Isabel opening the show because she’s by far my least favorite doll, though I must say she gave a great performance and had a lot of attitude on stage. Voodoo was my favorite song of this part. Then the fun started with the remix of Professional Widow and the rest of the setlist was simply amazing. I requested Caught a Lite Sneeze and she did perform it. Apparently she was supposed to sing Bouncing Off Clouds before Hey Jupiter but she didn’t, probably cause there was no time left. Anyway, amazing show!
