Bob Jillis says:
The 5 songs, voice, piano and concentration where very sincere, flawless and of high emotional impact. It was a rare and thrilling experience to listen to Tori in such a small room with such a small number of attendees. But in that setting it was all the more obvious that Dutch audiences and visitors of Amsterdam go to concerts and live music events for sharing drinks, chitchat, small talk and anything else but music. Why do professional photographers feel they are so important that it is not important to find out where the switch is to silence the clicking noise on their digital cameras each time they freeze-frame? Why do Dutch people with cell phones think that when you call or are being called is more important to extensively finish a conversation on the phone (I REALLY HAVE TO GO NOW BECAUSE MY BATERY IS LOW) in stead of having the politeness to listen to an artist perform solo on the piano in a room with only about 200 people with switched off phones? Why does Tori’s management choose a hall in Amsterdam called the Heineken Music Hall for her next concert while that hall is called Heineken because of people coming there not for the artist playing but to have a nice night out with a drink and talking about their new laundry machines, holiday homes, computers, cars and the pros and cons of having more children as proven on so many occasions including the last Amos concerts in Holland? Please put chairs in the auditorium so there is some sort of possibility created to focus on the music, I’d rather save my money for a concert abroad then wasting my money and time on a Abnormally Attracted to Heineken concert. But really, I’m fine, I’ve got a thick skin and was lucky enough to be present, see and hear 20 minutes of a miraculous performance with some slight disturbances in the background and the horrifying news of another concert in the Heineken ‘Music’ Hall. But I can’t wait to hear more.
Astrid says:
So, while having no entrance tickets but living 300 mtrs away form the studio, we just waited with a beer across the street. We saw many people in the cold, waiting to get in. A few minutes before she would start, we went there and the security guy let us in, since there was still enough space :-)
It was magical! Curtain call was amazing. She was in a very good mood, making jokes and looking magical. I was flying home…(on my bike ;-)
Harmen says:
I am surprised to hear that there was in fact enough space. Especially since, for the last few weeks, I checked the website daily to see if seats would come available. I even sent an e-mail to the organisation and begged (really) for a chance to be there, even if it was standing somewhere in the back. They said that is was really full!! :S
Well, I guess I will hear her sing live in a couple of months anyway. Still, she sounded nice (even though it was on streaming :S) and it was fun to hear putting the damage on. I wonder why the other songs were not broadcasted (did she hit a wrong note maybe? :)) If she would have played Ophelia, I would have broke things today! That one is my favorite up until now! x
Bob Jillis says:
There will be only chairs in the Heineken Music Hall on September 17th: big thanks to all those who made this very wise decision.
josh says:
I was not there, but I watched the performance via video stream, and I listened to it on 3fm on the actual time of the performance, and it was really wonderful, and fantastic. I will also be hearing her sing live in a couple of months.
Margreet says:
here you can watch and listen all five of the songs.
@ Bob: those photographers were not professional at all! They bothered me and the people around me also so much that I asked them to stop clicking after 2 songs, but… these girls were so devoted they could not stop. :-( I talked to one girl afterwards and guess what, those pictures were just for herself! (and she did not understand how egoistic this was of her). I was actually surprised Tori did not say anything about it, that would surely have helped.
Luckily the registration at 3voor12 has perfect sound.
