I was really hoping to get closer, but I was maybe about 8 rows back from the very front. It was pretty close and I could see Tori pretty well the whole time. She looked stunning and was in good form vocally. I thought the songs she decided to play really made for a great, intimate show. Hehe, I sooo thought she was going to play Mary Jane because, hey, it’s Bonnaroo, right? But I certainly wasn’t disappointed because she didn’t or anything like that. This was one of the absolute best Tori shows I’ve ever seen, and I’m glad I paid so much just to be able to be there. It justified the whole weekend. I was a little sad she didn’t do one of the many wonderful songs from Abnormally Attracted to Sin (Starling was what I had in mind), but as I said before, the set was amazing and I was not disappointed. I hope everyone else had as wonderful a time as I did at this show.

I was able to get 4th row more or less for this show after she and him. Me and my girlfriend Kelly and our good friend Rene rushed to the front after She and Him.
I was really worried about what Tori might play, and how strongly she would play, to captivate this hot, young, boisterous festival audience. I was worried that post-Pele Tori w/o Matty on drums may not hold them.
Wow. Was I wrong?! Just another thing I love so much about my favorite artist. She always comes through when I lose faith, this was one of the best shows I ever saw. So high-energy. The audience was nice and all were telling stories of past shows and how excited they were to see her.
The set was perfect for die-hard EWF and people that may have seen her for the first time. I loved the covers. Hitting the 90’s, 80’s and even 60’s with “Turn, Turn, Turn” in the middle of Secret Spell. I always disliked that song. And I probably only dislike 3 songs out of Tori’s whole catalogue, but wow, she rocked that Secret Spell and it was real on point and emotional solo to use that song the way she did.
Concertina was strong, when I think it’s sometimes weak live, Lovesong was amazing, Cooling was beautiful. Precious and Teen Spirit to grab the audience by the balls was a perfect start.
Hitting on “hits” like Fairytale and Silent were also perfect moves for her, and then incorporating a GREAT version of Roosterspur Bridge. (Lots of ADP in the set and strangely no AATS)
My girlfriend got AMAZING pics and video to be uploaded soon and shared with everyone.
Bouncing Off Clouds solo was incredible and great to see without having to go to Australia. Jupiter is always a beautiful closer and then she followed up with Silent, after ripping everyone open with a solo-Precious Things.
She dedicated Upside Down to Mother Earth, can someone explain the connection? I haven’t visited the forums at yessaid in a while but maybe I should to discuss that.
And Undented mentioned Space Dog and a reference to Amanda Palmer and Neil. Since Amanda Palmer is covering it. Was there stage banter before Space Dog implementing she had Neil and Amanda in mind when she played it, I have yet to hear the boot (but have it downloaded) the crowd was cheering too loud for me to catch what she was saying.
I dont know what else to say, I haven’t slept, haven’t really processed much, this trip was rather hard for me and my fellow campers and now I am in a law office in Florida typing while I can, have only slept an hour and a half since arriving home in car at 5 am this morning.
Tori, thank you
One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. I think this may have been my 12th show since 99.
I was 15 in 98 when I got into this artist, I am now 28, older and not like I was back then. Much has changed in my life. I am feeling a lot of sadness right now for some reason. But my passion for this timeless artist has never waned and the joy this woman’s work has provided the world has been one of the only things I could count on in life. There was something about this show that tore me up. And I’m still recovering.

The show was awesome.
I think it would have been more appropriate though if she kept the upbeat tunes going throughout. The momentum of Bonnaroo is not in songs like Cooling (even though I love Cooling).
Question: ‘Why don’t Tori Amos fans groove?” I’m always surprised that we all think (know) Tori is one of the greatest artists of all time, but no one so much as nods their head to the beat of the piano… I thought Bonnaroo would change the atmosphere of the usually-seated Tori show but the first 10 rows of peeps were the die-hard non-dancers.
In case y’all saw that hole in the crowd during Space Dog, that was my sister passing out from heat exhaustion. She tapped me and said she felt like she was going to pass out, but I thought she meant figuratively, so I told her the show probably wouldn’t go on much longer. She told me she really wanted to sit down and I told her I’d meet her on the side of the stage after the show. Then Tori made that hilarious Amanda Palmer reference and I went to break my “don’t tweet during Tori Amos” rule when I saw the hole in the crowd to my left. I had to push my way through some people to get to my sister who was on the floor with her eyes closed, not responding. It was one of the most intense moments of my life having Tori Amos playing and my sister unconscious on the floor. After 30 dreadful seconds my sister started to wake up and I led her out of the crowd. Sorry about that folks!
Overall, as a die-hard Tori fan, of course I thought it was wonderful, but the constantly static crowds and intermittent depressing songs are what make my friends call her Snori Lamos.
I posted a pic of my resurrected sister, and a few other Bonnaroo pics at twitter.com/bluejaysongs. My sister got some REALLY amazing pictures before she passed out so I’ll post a link when she puts them up.
