    Setlist

Santa opened this show. Spiny Norman sent us the setlist from memory, so if anything’s missing or out of order, let us know. Neil Gaiman and daughter Maddy were in attendance, so “Tear In Your Hand” paid a visit. (Maddy, however, wasn’t overwhelmed.)

lexa posted about the Jon Evans improv:

So just before the T and Bo segment Tori called John back to help her cos her clothes had come undone or something and he had to do her up again. While he was doing it, she started singing about Mr Jon’s wife and how she sprained her ankle, talked to T, ....some other stuff… and about how she (Tori) would totally do Mr Jon’s wife if she (Tori) was a man! It was hilarious!

It was the best show of my life and I’ve seen some. Thank You Tori, thanks for the wonder. Bells For Her…was outta this world. So was Spring Haze, Leather, Rainbow, Marianne, LE, Jupiter… it’s hard to list them all. Thank you.

      This show was totally amazing!!!

I saw her show in Vienna (which was my biggest disappointment ever – because that person on stage had nothing to do with Tori. She was there physically, but her soul seemed to be somewhere else. And also musically it did not happen. I left sad and shocked and worried and disappointed).

Then I was in Prague, and after my experience in Vienna I was not overly happy to travel so far. The Pip-act was dark and heavy and hard to listen to, but that is part of that character – and I think it takes a lot of courage to do that. Then the energy changed with the Tori-part and she made a nice performance.

And yesterday night – Budapest! WOW!!! It is hard to express because it was sooooooo intense and beautiful and deep. She was in such a good mood and flirted with the Bösi and the crowd and the band; during one song she played with Matt who went along on the drums echoing here changing dynamics – this was wonderful to watch because you can see how well they play all together and what great musicians they all are. Musically, this show was perfect. Every single second was intense and special, her voice playful and strong and touching, hitting all notes in perfect pitch, and her eyes were alive and in a flirtative mood, and she was dancing the whole time while she was playing – but in her Tori way. Not in that over-acted Posse-way. You know what I mean.

I have seen quite a few shows of Tori over the last years, and I agree: THIS WAS THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN! I hope that it’s true that this show has been recorded. It was magical and touching and musically incredibly perfect. I am so happy and thankful to have been there. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

It is so hard to describe this show…

It was one of the greatest nights of my life. This show was far the best of the three concerts we’ve seen.

Her solo part was simply indescribable. There is no word for this. It was beyond magic.

THIS was the concert we will never ever forget, it’s for sure. Thank you so much for being here. It was wonder.

This was my 3rd show, the first two I’ve gone to were in Toronto. This show was my favourite by far, it was really intense, I couldn’t have asked for a better setlist! Body and Soul was a really explosive opener. I also really enjoyed My Posse Can do and You Can Bring Your Dog from Santa’s setlist… Secret Spell is surprisingly good live, I think I might enjoy the album version more now. I knew she would be Santa in Budapest, I just had a feeling… and I’m happy too since I got to hear You Can Bring Your Dog live, it was awesome just like I knew it would be. It was my first time hearing Space Dog, Siren and Little Earthquakes live, I was so happy because those are some of my all-time favourites :) I really loved the lighting throughout the the concert, it really enhanced the experience, especially the starry background near the end when she was playing Hey Jupiter, it just fit the song so nicely, it was really beautiful…

There was a very long break before Tori began the show and people started to get bored.

But the start was massive and I think full of sensuality with Body and Soul. And the rest of the Santa act simply rocked the place. The only problem: I think the first act was short. I wanted more from Santa.

The second act was also nice, but somehow Bells For Her did not work for me.

Nevertheless, the crowd went mad basically for each song. Tori was also in a happy mood. She smiled and grinned a lot. She also said that the audience was very passionate and she purred like a cat holding her hands out as if they were paws or something. I think she enjoyed the whole show too.

There was a nice interaction between Tori and the audience for several songs, eg. Big wheel.
The T&Bö section was funny and entertaining. It was lovely to hear Leather again after so many years. I dunno why I had been ignoring it. the same about Little Earthquakes etc.

When she left the stage people stormed to the front to clap for more Tori. It was nice, but then I couldn’t see so I had to stand for the encores and I hate standing in a crowd. It was nice to see the passion, though.

I thought she meant to play Tear In Your Hand for the closing, but she really came back for the second encore to play. It started very disco-like so I thought she would play the ‘now that you’re here and standing you might as well just wiggle your hips a little for” Raspberry Swirl, but it was Bouncing Off Clouds. Now everyone was raving I think. I strangely had a craving for Raspberry Swirl for the last part to kick walls, but instead we had the sweet version of Jupiter. (I think the dakota version is too sweet for me:)

Tori really rocked the place and I hope she enjoyed playing for us as much as we enjoyed her doing the same.

The show was stunning. I loved the lights and that curtain thing (looked like a gothic crypt to me) No words can describe my amazement.

Thanks Tori and thanks everyone who made the night wonderful. There was Body & Soul in this gig:-)

It was my first time watching Tori live and I was absolutely blown off. I waited for her to come anywhere near Serbia for 8 years, and finally she had a concert somewhere I could afford to come.

The performance was spectacular. Her voice and the band were pristine, there was absolutely no mistakes. The improvisations were great, especially the one about John’s wife. I just wish the Hungarian audience was a wee bit warmer, especially at the beginning. The encore was just perfect, and I’m so happy that me and my friend managed to get very near Tori during the encore, and finally see her eyes (which were obscured by the top lid of her Bosendorfer from our sitting points of view).

And I wish she played at least one song from the Choirgirl, but you cant’ have everything :D.

    7. BeTa says:

This was the best show i’ve ever seen. Tori was so amazing… A prefect, strong, clear voice, her songs… Unbelievable.

    8. Didi says:

This show was out of this world. Everything was so perfect that I couldn’t believe it is real!

Santa was really explosive, all flirty and sexy. It seemed like Tori was having a great time and the atmosphere was really great.

The highlights must have been Bells for Her and Siren but also Tear in Your Hand and Hey Jupiter which was so emotional that many people came out of the venue crying. The venue was also great, and the audience too. i was surprised how many people from all over the world came all the way to Budapest (and it’s a lovely city indeed). All in all – fantastic.
