    1. Garrett says:

Very special show in Seattle tonight! There definitely seemed to be a running theme of “songs with messages for females”, or “female solidarity”, songs. Powerful feminine presence throughout the show. So many songs I hadn’t ever been able to see Tori perform live. Her medley of “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “She Keeps Me Warm” was quite brilliant. She really amped up the energy in the second half of the show with “Bliss”, “Voodoo”, “Precious Things”, and “16 Shades of Blue”.

Interesting that so many of the songs she performed tonight are usually mentioned in lists of fan’s LEAST favorite Tori songs: “Ophelia”, “Ribbons Undone”, “Secret Spell”, “Oysters”, etc. It was actually almost like she was doing a cheeky, “Okay, you don’t like these songs? Well these are the ones you’re getting!” However, “Ribbons Undone” and “Secret Spell” were surprisingly highlights for me! I could really appreciate the live versions more than the album recordings, and Tori still delivers them with absolute conviction and determination. She’s not faking it!

I was able to rush the stage with the others right as she finished “Voodoo”, and it was great to be up there so close for “Cornflake Girl” and “hey Jupiter”, especially.

I think this tour is REALLY going to come into its own and have many defining “Tori live” moments during the U.S. leg! So much to be excited about! Go, Tor!

    2. Eckhart says:

Next month, I enter a religious order and this was my last deliciously heretical big hurrah. and for some reason paranoid…could write an essay about reconverting to conservative orthodoxy and keeping Tori as my free-spirited life-long companion. :-)

My second row orchestra pit seat 9 ended up being on the aisle directly in front of Tori. I couldn’t appreciate the first half of the set list only because I was dumbly smiling in disbelief I was this close to goddess Tori. (The hours, years, books, tours, oh my!)

To the point: she seemed very excited to be back in the states at the meet and greet ( I asked for Dolphin Song and Witness knowing she probably couldn’t just break out either of those two).

Parasol was beautiful, Frog On My Toe was a surreal throwback. Secret Spell was a surprising highlight demanding both fists in the air. I love Mary, but how embarrassing for her that Tori sings “She keeps me warm” better!! Can anyone top Tori’s voice? No, of course not. :-)

Bliss was simply mind-blowing and the video doesn’t do it justice. Another Girl’s Paradise was for me a personal highlight representing the breadth of Tori’s material and where I was during that journey, and it just rocked. Tori played every song on this set list with energy. Any song not my favorite, now is!! “Springtime” was simply fun and beautiful. “Cornflake,” “Precious,” and “Jupiter” I played enough times on the piano; they were simply good time spent with Tori. And of course it was great to hear new material in 16 Shades of Blue.

This was easily one of my top three Tori concerts of 12. Hey, Tori, you’ll have the prayers of someone in the hierarchy soon, ha! Love you. Saint Michael Amos, pray for us! (everyone in heaven is a saint, fyi)

P.S. I wonder if the sweet 14-16 year old sisters near the front of the meet-and-greet line inspired Ribbons Undone? Tori seemed excited to talk to them especially.
