Tori gave what I consider one of her most impassioned performances tonight. While there were no jawdropping surprises in terms of the set list, the energy and zeal with which she played matched, and in some cases rivaled, some of the shows I saw on the last tour, including the two NYC shows.

Highlights for me were Smells Like Teen Spirit (she really belted it out at the end), In your Room (she owns this song), Siren (very dramatic), Taxi Ride (one of a handful of songs played in honor of Pride), and Amber Waves (the transition into the piano chorus part is fantastic).

A few things to note: Tori had a heck of a time keeping her lyric sheets in place on top of the Bose and the keyboard due to the wind. While she had a metal orb-like paperweight, the paper flew off several times and Marcel or another crew member had to come running out to pick them up and put the back. This caused her to skip a song because she could find the sheet for it when she went to play it. She said she was going to play the next one, and the started playing Leather. I’m totally guessing, but I think the skipped song could have been Beauty Of Speed or Your Cloud because of the lighting that was brought up before she switched. It was the multicolored pastel lighting against the long streamers at the back of the stage that I believe is often used for those songs. Did anyone see the printed setlist?

She also didn’t play an encore, and it felt to me like that was a last minute decision because some of the crew were standing off to the side looking like they were waiting for her to come back out. The lighting also switched and looked like it was for another song. But then the lighting went down and the crew came out disassemble the equipment. I wonder if the wind had anything to do with that.

All in all, it was a beautiful show.

Perfect day for an outdoor festival.
It was a bit windy, though, and Tori’s sheets were constantly flying all over the stage. She excused for that and said that she needed them because she was starting to forget things, since she was menopausal. Then she did a short “Menopause” improvisation (before Siren, I think).

Smells Like Teen Spirit was a request for “you know who you are”.

She said that In Your Room was a request as well and that this song was from one of her very favourite bands.

Before Taxi Ride, she mentioned how happy she was to be in Stockholm on Pride Day and dedicated the song “to all boys and girls who love”. She finished the song with “we’ve still got a long taxi ride – from Moscow to Jerusalem”.

Then she said that she was going to play a song, which she hadn’t played in a very long time, but since it was such a special day, she would perform her favourite song by Joe Jackson, which was of course Real Men.

Leather was apparently not on the original setlist, but since she had lost all her lyric sheets by that time, she played it instead.

Overall, Tori was in a great mood and had good energy and was quite talkative in between the songs. At some point, as yet another round of sheets were being blown away, she said that something like “The crew always wants me to go digital. I guess it’s a good time to start with that now.”

It was extraordinary to finally see Tori in Sweden after all the shows I’ve seen around Europe. :)

      Here’s hoping she’s back soon! <3
