Robert Schrader says:
My friend Bianca just texted me and confirmed that Take Me With You was played and that Santa opened…

Tori’s set began around 10:30 pm (after Wilco). Although I expected Pip or Isabel, Santa came on stage, and rocked, as she always does. The BIG excitement of the evening was of course TAKE ME WITH YOU during the solo: Tori seemed a bit nervous, but the song was gorgeous.
Tori began the solo with a very melancholic improv about “years passing” (she first played in Montreux 15 years ago). The only lyrics I can remember are: “will I be the next one to drawn?“Then she played a very emotional “winter”.
After Code Red the lights in the venue were turned on, and A LOT of people left (the rich guys sitting at the front!). The director of the festival, Claude Nobs, then came on stage, called Tori back and offered her a diamond watch (he really seems to have a crush on Tori, but who woundn’t?). Then the lights were put off again and Tori played the encore.
Ennio says:
Alright! Were do I start? WOW! It was my last of three shows this year, so I really tried to enjoy every minute of it. I went with my Friend, Fabian who’s a huge Toriphile and was the one who kept asking for Take Me With You on all the M&G’s he went to. We had PERFECT seats, 3rd Row Center. I had her in front of me the whole time! The crowd was so so, a bit sleepy and lots of casual listeners. It’s a pity that not more real Fans were there to witness the the world-debut. So let’s start:
Act 1 (Santa)
A sexy woman with platinum blonde hair and an green evening dress comes on stage, while the music kicks in for:
BODY AND SOUL
The best opener imo of this tour! Full of energy and she had a lot of fun while playing it. She was standing while singing and made lots of her cool hand-moving-things.
GOD
Well, even after three times, it still rocks!
DRAGON
I was waiting for that one. PERFECT! The first part was solo on the keyboard, then she changed to the piano and the band kicked in.
SECRET SPELL
This one, comes across very well live imo. The band seemed to have lots of fun while playing it.
YOU CAN BRING YOUR DOG
It’s actually not one of my favs, but she changed my mind. SO COOL! Her “Uh huh huh’s” are super-sexy!
Professional Widow Remix
BIG WHEEL
As always, I think we were the only one shouting “Don’t you forget” back at her in the entire auditorium LOL
CORNFLAKE GIRL
Big shout from the crowd for this one. Before the song, she introduced the band and told the crowd, how great it was to be back again in Montreux. Especially that now she is playing the big hall as a headliner, while 15 Years ago she was an opening act. Also, she praised Claude Nobs (see below) and thanked him.
BELLS FOR HER
FINALLY! Oh how long have I waited to hear this song. Beautiful intro on the piano, then she played both keyboard and the piano for it. Felt like a mix between the Scarlet live version and the album version. I had a huge smile on my face! Haha I’m still smiling when I think of it.
PARASOL
I wasn’t too fond on the version from the last tour, I prefer the mellow album version. Here, it was different. Lots of energy and the band adds a new dimension to it.
Band Leaves
Sounds of tears improv.
Before winter, she did a beautiful and very dark improv. She sang about the hills, that are filled with the sound of tears (the first few words, i thought she was gonna do the opener of Sound Of Music) and something about people walking near the lake (about Montreux, which lies near a lake) and I remember exactly the last line, she said “I know my end has come”. I’m curious to know, what she was referring.
WINTER
I was wondering, that she hadn’t played any LE until here… Beautiful.
TAKE ME WITH YOU
O M F G! Mesmerizing and beautiful. Fabian told me, that at the M&G she didn’t act like she was going to play it when he requested it (again!), but she also said Pip may show up tonight, so better don’t believe what she says =P. Played only on piano, a little bit slowed down. The middle part was especially good, not as “strange sounding” as on the record. What a treat.
Band Returns
BLISS
I was hoping for Bliss to show up! I would’ve jumped up and down, if I could! Very intense.
CODE RED
I’m loving Code Red more and more as time goes by. Really fitting as a closer.
Encore
Claude Nobs, the organisator of Montreux, came out and praised tori. She came out again and received a watch with diamonds from him. They hugged and she was really sweet and embarrassed by the gift. They really seem to get along =)
PRECIOUS THINGS
No-one stormed the stage, because there were cameras filming the whole show. Strange to hear the song sitting in the seat. Nevertheless, PT rocks like nothing else.
TEAR IN YOUR HAND
Had heard it twice already in Stuttgart and in Zürich. Oh well… ;)
We saw, that she was supposed to play Bouncing Off Clouds instead of Tear and that the second encore was supposed to be Hey Jupiter. But she was running late. As you see, very short show. But once you concentrate on what she DID play. WOW! Great night, once again! As I said before, the whole show was filmed for the big screens on the side. Most of the time, the Swiss TV will broadcast the headliners of each evening. But I’m not sure, if that’s gonna happen. I wrote an e-mail to SF2 (they often broadcast concerts from Montreux) and I’m awaiting an answer. I’ll let you guys know, obviously.
