Cork: The Unrepentant Geraldines Tour Kicks Off

    Tuesday, May 06, 2014 | 02:36 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The first night of the Unrepentant Geraldines Tour is in the books. After posting a picture of herself at the Cork Opera House, Tori took the stage and powered through a set that included two songs from the new album, “Trouble’s Lament” and “Selkie,” several hits like “Silent All These Years,” “Caught A Lite Sneeze,” “Winter,” and “Crucify,” covers of The Eagles’ “Desperado” and U2’s “New Year’s Day,” and a couple curve balls to keep people on their toes: “In The Springtime of His Voodoo” and “iieee.” On the Hammond B3 organ. Yup.

With many thanks to @SchizoEclectic for updating Toriphiles round the globe on Twitter in real-time, the complete setlist has been posted in the Tour section.

By all accounts, the performance was top-notch but we’d love to hear your thoughts on the concert if you were there. If you are so inclined, post a review using the comment form at the bottom of the show’s Flashback page. Photos and video clips are also very welcome!

P.S. You’re welcome for not making a cork pun!

    Police Yourselfie!

Ever wonder what the collective noun for “selfies” is? Well, we haven’t either…but we may have to find out as ToriAmos.com has announced the Unrepentant Geraldines Tour Instagram Contest aka Unrepentant Selfies.

To enter, simply post a picture of yourself at one of the shows on tour with either your ticket or the venue visible in the photo, post it to Instagram with the hashtag #unrepentantselfie along with hashtagging the city you’re seeing Tori in, and make sure you’re following Tori on Instagram so they can contact you if you win. There will be one winner in each tour market who will receive an Unrepentant Geraldines Tour Program from Tori.

All the details — as well as a stream of #unrepentantselfies from Instagram — are at ToriAmos.com. As always, there rules but they shouldn’t harsh your mellow too much.

    Good luck!

It's The Night Before Tour And All Through The House...

    Monday, May 05, 2014 | 00:52 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

    It begins again!

Tomorrow, Monday, May 5th, the European leg of the Unrepentent Geraldines Tour gets under way in Cork, Ireland! After two nights in Dublin later this week, Tori crosses the Irish Sea for a week in the United Kingdom before moving on to The Continent where she’ll be playing from France to Russia and from Norway to Bulgaria through June. After that, she returns to South Africa and, following a couple week break, it’s on to North America. No other countries have been confirmed but we’re expecting a return to Australia and we have all extremities crossed for the tour to touch down in other countries as well…

As with the past few tours, we’ll be doing our best to keep you abreast of setlists, reviews and media in our Tour section including, as we can, posting setlists as they happen on each concert page and on our Twitter.

If you’ll be attending a show and would like to help out with live-updating that concert — either via Twitter, text or some other form of communication — we’d love to hear from you! You can get in touch using the contact form or by DM/reply on Twitter (we have a Facebook page too but that’s not really the best way to reach us).

Finally, say hi to the openers for the tour! In Europe, your support act is Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou and in South Africa, the concerts will be warmed up by Michael Lowman. Here’s a taste of each!

All The Things We Meant To Post Last Weekend

    Monday, May 05, 2014 | 00:25 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles,Reviews,TV/Radio/Web

Last weekend, a number of new interviews, reviews and radio appearances all came and went. Unfortunately, all three of us were unable to work on the site at the time and none of them were posted — although we did manage to keep our Twitter and Facebook up-to-date, thanks to those fancy smartphones we all pay so dearly for. Adding insult to injury, between the day jobs and keeping up with the redhead in New York City this past week, none of that stuff made it up either.

We will get it all posted but here’s a quick rundown to make sure none of you missed anything before the tour starts tomorrow! (!!!)

    Radio

    • Andy Potter interview on BBC Radio Derby (April 24, 2014). Episode no longer available on iPlayer but a clip is available for UK listeners.
    • Laura Rawlings interview on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset. Episode no longer available on iPlayer but a clip is available for all listeners.

    Sunday, May 04, 2014 | 21:42 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Just got word from Klaudia that Tori is Piotr Kaczkowski’s guest on Minimax tonight on Polskie Trójka.

The program airs from 10:05 PM until Midnight CEST and the interview should be aired after 11:00 PM — so within the next hour. Listen live on the web at http://www.polskieradio.pl/Player/-3.

Update: Only the first half of this interview was aired tonight. The second half will be broadcast next Sunday evening.

Evening Standard Magazine Interview (May 2, 2014)

    Saturday, May 03, 2014 | 16:09 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Before heading off to New York City earlier this week, Tori chatted about London to Sam Fishwick for The London Evening Standard. The results appeared in this weekend’s ES Magazine and were posted on the web yesterday. Not a lot of pull quotes so just dive right in!

Watch: VH1 Big Morning Buzz (May 2, 2014)

    Saturday, May 03, 2014 | 15:40 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Tori was on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz on Friday, May 2nd. She closed off the show with a brief conversation about how songs develop from conversations with people, preparing for touring, and pen burglary followed by a performance of “Trouble’s Lament.” Enjoy!

    Unrepentant Geraldines On Amazon MP3

    Saturday, May 03, 2014 | 15:04 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Unrepentant Geraldines has been added to the European Amazon MP3 stores and, as suspected, includes yet another bonus track: “Dixie.” While the album has not been added to the Amazon stores in the Americas yet, we’ll hazard a guess that they’ll include “Dixie” as well once it is — just as all counties’ iTunes stores have included the bonus track “White Telephone to God” once the album was added to each store.

Curiously, neither iTunes nor Amazon currently have a deluxe edition of the album in their digital stores. It’ll be interesting to see if they do get added eventually and what, if any, differences they will have from either the physical deluxe edition, which includes the bonus track “Forest of Glass” and the DVD, or the existing digital editions.

We’ve also heard from Marcel that “Dixie” is available from the music service Deezer in at least Poland and, we would guess, other countries where that service operates. Again, this makes one wonder if other music services such as Spotify and Rdio will have any extras as well.

    iTunes Adds Unrepentant Clips

    Friday, May 02, 2014 | 13:46 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Last weekend, clips of all songs Unrepentant Geraldines were added to German retailer JPC’s listings for the album. They were removed before we had a chance to even mention it on the site. However, clips of all songs have now been added to iTunes, including the iTunes-only bonus track “White Telephone to God.” There are 30 second clips on the web and 90 second clips in the iTunes store.

If you can’t wait to get a taste of the record beyond “Trouble’s Lament” and “Selkie,” here’s you chance!

Update: Amazon.de also has 30 second clips of all songs, but only for their listing of the deluxe edition. Thank you Andreas!

And speaking of “Trouble’s Lament,” an official lyric video has been released for the song. (Fear not though: the proper music video, filmed in London earlier this month, is still to come…)

    Upcoming TV And Radio Appearances

    Friday, May 02, 2014 | 01:15 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

There are several radio and television appearances coming up to keep an eye and ear out for…

First, there’s one more upcoming television appearance — that we know of — for this spate of promo before the tour begins next week: Tori will be on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live on Friday, May 2nd on…drum roll please…VH1! The show is on at 10:00 AM EDT and PDT. Set those video recording devices!

Second, this coming Sunday, May 4th, Phil Marriot’s entire two-hour program on Gaydio will be devoted to Tori. He interviewed her during the Unrepentant Geraldines promo whirlwind in the United Kingdom a couple weeks ago and their conversation will be aired during the program. Tune in at 6:00 PM BST. Looking forward to that!

Third, as we reported earlier that an appearance for Europe 1’s On connaît la musique was recorded last week. An airdate is now set for the episode she will be on: Saturday, May 10th. The program starts at 10:00 PM CEST, with the guest appearance usually starting at 11:00 PM. Thanks again to Tori Amos France for the information!

Fourth, a couple photos posted to social media tipped everyone off that she had recorded a session for the public radio program Echoes at the New York City venue Subculture. A quick perusal of their upcoming shows indicates that the session will be aired on the Monday May 12th edition of the program or, for stations that carry the weekend-only version of the program, during the following weekend. Check their station listings to find a radio station that carries the program in your area.

Finally, this Flickr set leads one to expect an in-studios on WFUV in the near future. So far, nothing has been posted on WFUV’s website. WFUV’s upcoming listsings now have Tori appearing on FUV Live (more like FUV Pre-recorded in this case) on Thursday, May 22nd at 9:00 PM Eastern.
