The Surrey With The Cringe On Top

    Friday, March 18, 2011 | 18:32 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae

What is it with Toriphiles being labeled uncool? The Cornell University Department of Music will host a colloquium on April 28 called “Cringe Criticism: On Embarrassment and Tori Amos.” Admittedly, we’re not entirely sure what that means, but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be wholly flattering to Tori or her listeners. Still, if you’re in the area, it might be worth checking out. Thanks to Melissa for the tip!

PS22 Takes Oscars Crowd Over The Rainbow

    Monday, February 28, 2011 | 07:35 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae

Tonight at the Oscars, Mr. B and the PS22 hit a home run, performing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” before an awestruck audience at the Kodak Theatre. If you missed it, you can check out the performance over at Perez Hilton. Also, don’t miss them on Oprah’s Ultimate After-Oscar Party on Monday, February 28.

PS22 Chorus Heads To The Red Carpet

    Saturday, December 18, 2010 | 19:06 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae

Many of you may recall our focus on The PS22 Chorus, known for their gorgeous interpretations of Tori’s songs — as well as the music of many other popular musicians. Well, Mr. B and the gang got the news yesterday, by way of Anne Hathaway no less, that they’ll be performing at the Oscars in February. They were understandably thrilled out of their minds. No word yet on what they’ll be performing. Check out the video:

Thanks to Melissa and Randy for the news! (We just hope there are enough Alexander McQueen dresses for the whole gang.)

Tash Captured In Ben Folds Photo

    Thursday, December 02, 2010 | 21:34 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae

Some of you may remember waaaaaay back in 2003 when Tori toured with Ben Folds on the Lottapianos tour. Well, Ben snapped this cute photo of Tash, likely on that tour. Tomorrow in Washington, D.C., he’ll discuss this photo and others in a talk with photographer Mark Seliger sponsored by National Geographic Live. It’s part of a series of talks called “Music On… Photography,” featuring different musicians who also do some great work behind the lens.

Foley's New Book Raises Money For RAINN

    Sunday, November 14, 2010 | 20:42 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae,RAINN

Wrestler and Toriphile Mick Foley appeared on the Daily Show this week and talks about his life and work with the ever-awesome Jon Stewart. This interview is full of Tori tidbits — including the fact that Mick is donating half the proceeds from his new book, Countdown to Lockdown, to RAINN. He also shares that he used to listen to one special Tori song before wrestling matches, and talks about his other philanthropic interests. Thanks to the many of you who sent this in:

    Shoppin' With Tori

    Tuesday, May 05, 2009 | 03:52 UTC | Posted by woj | Minutiae

Oh yeah, there was another Google Alert I didn’t have a chance to check earlier: apparently, Tori shops in London! Who knew?

Seriously though, some paparazzi snapped a few photos of Tori hitting the stores that were posted on WENN.com and have turned up at several other celebrity gossip sites as well. Photo mavens and gallery keepers, start your engines!

(Thanks to Roz for jogging the memory banks…)

    NOT New Album Artwork

    Wednesday, February 18, 2009 | 21:07 UTC | Posted by Violet | Minutiae,Releases

Late last night, we started getting reports that possible new album artwork was floating around in the cyberether. Undoubtedly this is where Perez Hilton also got the pic (featured today with the caption “A visual preview of Tori Amos’ new album”).

Don’t get too excited. We have confirmation from the Tori camp that this photo is absolutely NOT related to Tori or the new album in any way and was not done by anyone associated with Tori.

So Perez, you may want to change that caption to “A cute and clever fan interpretation of Tori Amos’ new album.”

    Here A Tori, There A Tori (January 25, 2009)

    Sunday, January 25, 2009 | 10:49 UTC | Posted by Violet | Minutiae

[Here-a-Tori, There-a-Tori is an occasional column rounding up small Tori mentions far and wide.]

    In this edition:

    • Flight Of The Conchords
    • American Idol “Mr. Zebra”
    • Dew Drop Inn
    • AOL Radio’s All-Tori channel gone, gone, gone
    • Brief MattChamberlain.com recording update
    • Real Names Of Stars
    • 2008 Celebrity Fashion Flops

Just when it seems life can’t get any better, our favorite clueless band manager Murray namechecks Tori (again) on the second season premier of “Flight Of The Conchords.” You can catch the episode on On Demand through April 20th or online at Funnyordie.com (sorry, world, US only). Thanks to Kelly, Meagan, and Brandy.

On the January 21st installment of American Idol, there was a short “blink and you’ll miss it” audition clip of a fellow who had attempted to dress himself as a zebra — black and white stripey facepaint and all — and sing “Mr. Zebra.” Okay, ‘fess up … it was one of you, wasn’t it? (Credit to Shannon, torifying, Amber, Jordy, and Jessica Rich for not blinking.)

Apparent you can drop in at the Dew Drop Inn … in Gotham City in Neil Gaiman’s two-part send-off to Batman, Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader (hitting stores in February). We don’t know about you, but we’re planning to steal some shampoo and towels.

Yes, it’s true, AOL Music’s all-Tori station was recently wished to the cornfield. Your guess is as good as ours as to why.

Darrell, Dan, and Devin noticed that on January 4th, there was a micro update on Matt Chamberlain’s website where he posted about a Tori recording session at Avast Studios in Seattle and included a studio photo. A pic of Matt with Tori was also added this past Friday (January 23rd).

Matt told us that Rob O’Connor recently mentioned Tori in his Yahoo Music Blog, “List Of The Day.” Tori made #4 on his list titled Real Names Be Proof—Would These Ten Stars Have Made It With Their Real Names.

Tori made MSN’s 2008 Year In Review “Celebrity Fashion Flops” list for yes, you guessed it, the Comic Con outfit. Well, at least they were on the ball enough to mention that it was a costume. Thanks, christina.

MSN Undressed: Ahead of the Curve!

    Friday, August 08, 2008 | 04:04 UTC | Posted by woj | Minutiae

Oh, Microsoft! First you miss the bus on the Internet and now you miss the mock-Tori’s-Comic-Con-dress train. They bring the snark, but picking on Tori’s “gut[ted] innocent beanbag”? That’s so last week! Even in Internet Time!

Thanks to Kat, Julienne and everyone else who brought this to our attention!
