Official Night Of Hunters Album Cover Unveiled

    Thursday, June 23, 2011 | 08:30 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

ToriAmos.com has finally revealed the official album cover for Night Of Hunters. Gorgeous!

Thanks to Mario, Gone Andromeda, and Charlie T. for letting us know.

    Hunting Night of Hunters...

    Sunday, June 19, 2011 | 17:12 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Over the past couple weeks, there’s been a few changes to the online retailers’ advance listings for Night of Hunters.

Amazon.com still only shows a single-disc deluxe edition of the album for domestic releases in the United States, though now with a September 27th release date (a Tuesday, as is customary in the States). However, they have since added a deluxe CD/DVD import with a release date of October 4th, currently available for pre-order. Meanwhile, across the pond, Amazon.co.uk is only listing a single-disc edition with a Sepotember 26th release date that, interestingly (perhaps only to me), has the same ASIN as the import edition listed by Amazon.com. HMV and other UK online retailers continue to have a single-disc edition listed with a release date of September 26th.

What does this all mean? Hard to say at this point though it seems clear that, as has been the case with Tori’s last several records, there will be a deluxe edition of the album. One would expect there to be a deluxe edition in North America as well. Undoubtedly more details about various release configurations will be forthcoming soon…though it’s certainly fun to try and divine the tea leaves from the outside!

Thanks to Greg, Roma, Tony and Erinn for keeping an eye on all this!

Behind the Scenes on Tori's NOH Photo Shoot

    Wednesday, May 11, 2011 | 17:37 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae,Releases

By now, most of you have seen the gorgeous new Victor de Mello promo photo that came with the news of Night of Hunters. Now, you can see some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot which, according to that site, took place on a cold, green day in Cork. Alas, there aren’t any candid shots of Tori, but there are some tantalizing backgrounds that may turn up in the final product. Or maybe even video, given the video-camera rigs on the set. Thanks to Sergio for digging this one up.

Update: Hmmmm…seems the blog post linked above has been removed…or made private…but this post remains, mentioning Victor de Mello’s involvement with the promo shoot.

Update: Google cache to the rescue!

Night of Hunters Release Date. Perhaps.

    Tuesday, May 10, 2011 | 23:19 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Update: Amazon.com has chimed in with a listing for a deluxe edition of Night of Hunters that shows a release date, in the States at least, of September 20th! It’s not yet available for ordering but you can sign up to get notified when it is. Thanks Greg and Terry!

Several online music stores, including CD Wow, HMV and Play.com have added Night of Hunters to their catalog for pre-order.

While none have shown any cover artwork (well, Play shows Victor de Mello’s promotional shot, they all mention a release date of Monday, September 26th. Given that CD Wow is Japanese and the other two are UK-based, a Monday release date would make sense and it follows that the North American release would be Tuesday, September 27th.

Undoubtedly more details will surface sooner than later but right now, looks like a late September release, just as the European tour kicks off.

Thanks to Yuta and Lesley for the tips!

    Night of Hunters Album Details

    Thursday, May 05, 2011 | 03:00 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

A newsletter has gone out to the e-mail newsletter announcing the new record. In it, we learn that the upcoming album, Night of Hunters, will be released in September on Deutsche Grammaphon and includes the following description of the record from Tori:

“It’s a 21st century song cycle inspired by classical music themes spanning over 400 years. I have used the structure of a song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter. One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.”

That text comes from the press release for the record which is reproduced for your reading pleasure below the cut.

    "In The Studio" Out Now!

    Friday, April 29, 2011 | 17:36 UTC | Posted by Beth | Releases

UPDATE: We have it on good authority that In The Studio is no more than a collection of previously published interviews. If you’ve kept up with the press on Tori, it’s probably nothing new for you.

Surprise! Jake Brown’s book on Tori, In the Studio, was due out in May, but it was released a little bit early and is available now. According to Independent Media Magazine,

The book will have interviews with people who had the fortune of working with Amos in the studio, including producers, sound engineers and band members.

It goes in to detail album by album of Amos’.

Brown also touches on Amos’ artistic process, which should intrigue everyone to finally see what inspires all her intense songs.

Thanks to Vinny and blindhope for letting us know!

    From Myspace With Love

    Tuesday, December 14, 2010 | 22:53 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

The latest Tori Amos newsletter brings the news that another track from From Russia With Love, “Silent All These Years,” is now available for preview — this time via the audio player on Myspace.

Additionally, “Yes, Anastasia” can be freely downloaded on Facebook for an e-mail address and a song…so if you are not a Facebook user and were unable to get the song via sharing, you should be able to get it now.

Also, while we’re on the topic, a few people have asked whether or not From Russia With Love would see a release separate from the TORI camera package. six58 checked with the Tori Store and their response was inconclusive, stating that while the possibility had been discussed and would probably be more likely if the camera sold out, that there were no definite plans to do so at this time.

Finally, folks who ordered the camera are starting to receive them so if you did, keep an eye on your mailbox!
