    Thursday, December 24, 2009 | 18:02 UTC | Posted by woj | Site News,Video

Well, it’s getting to be that time of the year when we retreat to visit with family and friends for the holidays. Violet and I will both be out and about for the next week or so through New Year’s so site updates will be sporadic at best but before heading out into the snow, we both want to wish you all and yours a happy and joyful holiday season, regardless of which — one or ones — you may celebrate this time of year!

We’ll sign off for now with this lovely rendition of “Star of Wonder” performed by the PS22 Chorus.

All the best and see you in 2010!

Electric Lady Welcomes an Electric Lady

    Sunday, December 13, 2009 | 21:29 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

On Friday afternoon, Tori capped off a week of promoting the release of Midwinter Graces in New York City by performing live at Electric Lady Studios. The hour-long performance was webcast on Facebook via Livestream and was followed by a live chat with Spinner’s Jessica Robertson who asked Tori a few questions of her own and then posed several fan-submitted questions collected on Facebook.

The following songs were played during the concert portion of the show: Lady in Blue, Beauty of Speed, Leather, Snow Angel, Girl, Cooling, Cool on Your Island, Star of Wonder, Bells for Her, A Silent Night With You, Wednesday, Ophelia, and Pink and Glitter. Unfortunately, the performance has not been archived, though the possibility exists that some or all of the show will be made available later. However, some of the interview is currently available for streaming on Livestream:

Fortunately for those who missed the live webcast, some intrepid Toriphiles were able to record most of the songs and have shared them on YouTube. Thanks to marckarlock for getting nearly all of the webcast! Jump the cut to check it out!

Our Next Guest Is A Talented Singer-Songwriter...

Accompanied by a horn section and that big band sound, Tori performed “Pink and Glitter” on The Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday, December 10th. Video of the appearance has not been posted on The Late Show’s website yet, but you-know-who has it for those of us who missed it (or ahem fell asleep on the couch):

Wednesday, December 9th was a busy day as Tori also appeared live on CNN International’s Connect the World where she spoke with host Becky Anderson about Midwinter Graces and RAINN and also answered questions submitted by readers of Connect the World’s blog. Video of the appearance was posted on CNN.com the following day and was also used as source material for an article on CNN World.

Thanks to Mark-Alexis, “Mike Holliday* and Bille for catching this one!

    Soundcheck, Soundcheck, 1, 2, 3...

    Sunday, December 13, 2009 | 00:25 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Dressed, as she emphatically pointed out, as “a very friendly nutcracker,” Tori appeared on the WNYC radio program Soundcheck on Wednesday, December 9th to promote the release of Midwinter Graces. Due to high interest, the live broadcast was moved to The Greene Space, the station’s performance studio, allowing a small audience to attend the broadcast. For those not lucky enough to get tickets to the event, video of the broadcast was also streamed live on the web.

During the appearance, Tori spoke with host John Schaefer about the genesis and evolution of Midwinter Graces and she performed “Star of Wonder,” “A Silent Night With You” and “Pink and Glitter”.

If you missed the live broadcast, you can stream or download a mp3 of the appearance from WNYC. Unfortunately, the video stream does not appear to have been archived but WNYC has kindly put “Star of Wonder” up on YouTube:

If you were one of the lucky few who were able to attend the broadcast, we’d love to hear about it — please post a comment on this performance’s entry in the Tour section!

A Silent Night With Alan Titchmarsh

    Friday, December 04, 2009 | 16:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Tori appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show on ITV yesterday afternoon, performing “A Silent Night With You,” accompanied by a string quartet.

The entire program is available on the ITV Player for the next month, but that video stream is only available to those in the United Kingdom. For the rest of us, it’s YouTube to the rescue!

Thanks to Andrew, Eva, Melissae and Carina for the tip!

A Silent Night With You - Video and Single

    Tuesday, December 01, 2009 | 03:06 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases,Video

Hot on the coattails of the “Pink and Glitter” video, AOL Music has added a solo, acoustic performance of “A Silent Night With You” that, as Spinner reports, was recorded in a Los Angeles studio.

Perhaps not coincidentally, “A Silent Night With You” was released as a single in the United Kingdom this week — that’s the cover artwork over there to the right. The single includes two b-sides: acoustic versions of “Pink and Glitter” and “Jeanette, Isabella.” At this point, the single appears to be digitally released only and can be found on iTunes UK, Amazon.co.uk, Play.com and presumably other fine digital outlets.

While we curmudgeons wait for a physical release of the single, everyone can enjoy this live performance of the song, courtesy of AOL:

Thanks to John, Mark-Alexis, Alfred and “Josh* for the tip!
