News: Tori Amos Fantasy Setlist: Tonight's The Night!

Posted by Violet on Monday, August 31, 2009 | Toriphiles,TV/Radio/Web

A lot of people are confused about what the Tori Amos Fantasy Setlist Night is going to be. This is understandable. It’s difficult for us to explain what it is and how it will work beforehand because we’re trying to retain an element of surprise and anticipation, the sort of happy feeling you’d experience on the day of an actual concert.

What I can tell you is that it will be a somewhat unusual interactive Twitter-based event — the posting of a fantasy setlist (as in dream, made-up, make-believe, etc.) — intended to provide a bit of entertainment for fans during the hiatus between the US and UK legs of the tour. How it will be done and which songs were chosen, well, that’s the surprise. No, we’re not going to sit around posting random song titles and stats all night, and no, it will not be a special performance by Tori. But we think it will be fun, especially for those of you who aren’t going to be able to attend any of the shows this tour (or those who have and are sad it’s over). If you don’t like it, you can always wander away.

    Where: Undented Twitter

When: Tonight at 9pm. We will show up about an hour early to chat and gear up, and we’ll go until about 11:15pm (approximately).

Bring: Yourself, a computer (if you’re not in front of a computer, it won’t be much fun), something to drink, snacks, a diaper.

How: You don’t need to have a Twitter account to watch our [Twitter] stream and follow along, but you will need to refresh the page at regular intervals to see each new update/song.

If this event goes well, it could be the start of something really nifty. We have loads of ideas for the future.

And on a more personal note…

I apologize for being so behind in updating the site, especially not getting the most recent tour photos and videos up. I’m always uncomfortable posting personal stuff, however there was a death in my family the day of the final US show, two weeks ago today, actually. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, as the person was 99, but it still threw me and I affected me more than I thought I would. Because Fantasy Setlist Night had to be done within the specific time frame of the hiatus and I’d already mentioned the date and time on Twitter, I decided to go ahead with that, thinking it might help lift my spirits. It has, but I didn’t expect it would be the only thing I could manage. (It’s been fun, but more time-consuming than I thought.) So my goal is to bust a move to catch up on the site after that. If I don’t succeed, it is safe to assume I’ve broken my ass.
