    News: Megastar ADP Review

Posted by Beth on Wednesday, May 09, 2007 | Reviews

Yes, it might have sold more if she’d cut back, but don’t let the length put you off. Amos still has the ability to inspire and move, and just like Bjork, who releases Volta next week, she remains one of the most distinctive female artists in music today.

Djimi sent us this review of American Doll Posse from Megastar:

    AMERICAN DOLL POSSE
    By Sid Billington

Boasting a whopping 23 tracks, Tori’s ninth album suggests she’s only just getting started.

On American Doll Posse she goes down the rock route and ropes in five Tori’s for the ride; Pip, Santa, Isabel, Clyde and Tori. You’ve got the hippy one, the voodoo one, the one you wish she’d left at home…

OK, so we all know and love the red-head and her kooky ways, but even die-hard fans might be compelled to skip through a few tracks. If you do, be careful you don’t miss the Bowie-sounding You Can Bring Your Dog, or the justified political ranting at Bush, titled Yo George.

Half way through things start to blend, with Amos letting the 70s guitar riffs overlap her vocals; a brave move for a singer renowned for letting her bewitching voice lead the way.

Yes, it might have sold more if she’d cut back, but don’t let the length put you off. Amos still has the ability to inspire and move, and just like Bjork, who releases Volta next week, she remains one of the most distinctive female artists in music today.

They say: ‘It’s a tall order, but she makes an inspiring role model, answerable only to her fierce, funny self.’ Guardian Unlimited

We say: Worth taking the journey with Tori and her new pals.

Best Tracks: Yo George, Father’s Son, Big Wheel, Digital Ghost, Teenage Hustling, Bouncing off Clouds
