Tessa Eidelman says:
This was such a magical experience – just Tori and the piano…. an interesting compilation of songs including our request for ‘tear in your hand’ yay. I really felt her generosity during this performance – giving so much of herself and revealing so much of herself in every note and every word. Highlights for me included ‘hey jupiter’, ‘a sorta fairytale’,‘carry’ and a really beautiful and powerful performance of ‘mother’. ‘Me and a gun’ was spine-chilling – you could have heard a pin drop in the arena, it was so quiet. I feel like I have been on a wonderful journey – thank you Tori for your courage to reveal all, your strength and beauty. I was lucky enough to meet the goddess and am proud to say she shares my love for Cape Town! I hope she’ll be back next tour. Shout-out to all the fellow tori-philes I met at the meet and greet!
Werner Ungerer says:
Thanks, Tori – for creating a space for us to just…feel. I think as South Africans we’ve become so numb, bombarded as we are with so much bad news: corruption, violence, distrust, frustration. I saw myself as part of a society last night, a community, a land and a city, and felt your love, comfort, sorrow and sweetness.
Chantel Erfort says:
Previously when I had seen Tori live, I had travelled to Amsterdam on my own to see her. This time I was thrilled to be able to share the experience with a group of close friends, my hubby and my brother and his wife – who described the experience as “magical” and “religious”. I think they’ve been converted, having not previously been “Tori-philes”. My friends loved it too and I also thought it was magical, despite some parts of the performance feeling in need of a lift.
Tori is something of an alchemist and even though every song sounds different from its album version, it’s equally beautiful. She truly does hold gold dust in her hands.
Over all Tori is still a stellar performer, a true professional and master of the keys. Her voice is still as rich and beautiful as ever, and she still has the ability to entrance.
Highlights for me were Icicle, Bells for Her, Can’t see New York and Carry. I longed to hear Your Cloud and The Power of Orange Knickers.
