Rantz Hoseley To Unveil Tori-Related News At SXSW

    Monday, March 16, 2009 | 10:46 UTC | Posted by Violet | Them

Rantz Hoseley, editor of Comic Book Tattoo and CEO of the LongBox Group, will be appearing on the discussion panel Comics on Handhelds: Taking Webcomics Mobile at SXSW on Tuesday, March 17th, from 5pm-6pm.

If you are a Toriphile attending SXSW, you will want to do everything you can to attend this discussion. Why? During the panel, Rantz will be spilling info that will be of particular interest to Tori fans and (to quote Rantz directly) “comic fans will crap themselves” as this will be the first public showing of LongBox.

If you can’t hop on the next plane to Austin, don’t worry … we’ll fill you in after the panel has taken place. (No, we don’t know what the big news is yet.)

ADDENDUM: Rantz clarifies that he meant to indicate that fans who enjoyed CBT will likely be excited by the stuff on the panel, not that he will be making any Tori-specific announcements or unveilings during the panel, and apologizes for any confusion this may have caused.

    John Philip Shenale On AATS

    Sunday, March 15, 2009 | 09:38 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases,Them

In a new entry on his MySpace page, John Philip Shenale documents some details of his work on Abnormally Attracted To Sin:

I wanted to xpand alittle on an email i received, asking about Tori’s new record “Abnormally Attracted To Sin” and my involvement .
I worked on 4 songs for the record.
All 4 of Tori’s creations , consumed me for the last 3 months of 08.
We used an octet for the string section on 2 songs ( 4 violins, 2 violas 2 celli.
Various synths, samplers, processes, Hammonds (A100 and solovox) and Wurly were used at times, played by Tori and me.
    Tori played Bosy on 3.
Matt and Jon played on all 4.
One song i arranged the rythym section, keys and strings around Tori .
Then Matt and Jon added there magic later.
This process finished in Cornwall in December.
The ending of a wonderful record and an emotional year for me.
    Well thats it for now.
I will put up more text and pics after the release.

    Sounds exciting. We can’t wait!

(Thanks to Seth Miller for catching this.)

Submit Questions For The Next Spinner Interview

    Friday, March 13, 2009 | 02:58 UTC | Posted by Violet | Toriphiles

Our friends at Spinner.com are doing another interview with Tori and this time they want you, the fans, to ask the questions. A whole interview with questions entirely by Toriphiles! Cool, hunh?

They’ve asked us to collect questions from our readers. If you have something you want to ask Tori, head to our comments form, select the subject “I Want To Ask Tori…,” type in your fantabulous question (or questions), and end with your full name and location.

The most interesting questions will be chosen for the interview, so put on your thinking caps and make ‘em good!

The deadline for getting questions in to Undented is 1:00pm PST on Sunday, March 15th.

[NOTE: Again, be sure to include your full name and LOCATION. Our contact form doesn’t have a field for location because normally it isn’t relevant, but we need it for this. Only a few submitters have remembered to add it. Putting it behind your name in the “Name” field is fine.]

Everything Tori Announces Deluxe DVD Details

    Wednesday, March 11, 2009 | 00:01 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Everything Tori has gotten into the album news act with a press release-ish post confirming the May 19th release date, indicating the personnel involved in the album’s making (the usual cast of characters) and providing some additional details about the mysterious “visualettes.” According to ET, the “interlocking episodic films [that] bring to life the narrative arc of the album” will be available in a companion DVD included in the deluxe edition of the album.

Nothing else is mentioned as being part of the deluxe package but we’re hoping it includes Seven Deadly Sins trading cards and indulgences.

Update: Well I’ll be! There is a press release about this and, as luck would have it, that’s exactly what Everything Tori posted.

    Pandora's Aquarium Needs Your Help

    Saturday, March 07, 2009 | 13:04 UTC | Posted by woj | Toriphiles

Shannon alerted us to a campaign by Pandora’s Aquarium, an online support group for survivors of sexual violence, to win a grant to help survivors attend a healing retreat later this year. It’s a great cause that addresses a need near and dear to Tori’s heart and they could really benefit from the support of the Tori fan community.

All it takes to help is a few clicks each day during the month of March to vote for them to receive the grant.

Read on for more information and make sure to check out the good work that is being done by this organization:

Pandora’s Aquarium, Inc. is a 501©(3) nonprofit that has been serving rape and sexual abuse survivors for a decade. Inspired by Tori’s dedication to the cause, the organization has served more than 20,000 people through its online support community, where survivors find a refuge to share experiences, seek advice, and provide support.

Pandora’s Aquarium is hosting its first healing retreat weekend in the fall of 2009. For many survivors, the cost to attend the retreat is prohibitive and local resources aren’t available. Pandora’s Aquarium believes that all survivors should have access to quality programs regardless of their ability to pay. We are seeking a grant to provide scholarships to those in need of financial assistance to attend, and you can help us by voting every day in March.

Voting only takes a second, and you don’t have to register. Just follow the link, scroll down, and click the blue “vote” box on the right – and be sure to bookmark the link to vote daily!

For more information, visit our website. You can also support us on Facebook.

Thank you! This grassroots organization could not survive without the support of those who care about this issue.

The Continuing Mystery of the Legs & Boots Best-of

    Thursday, March 05, 2009 | 05:45 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

While details about the Legs & Boots best-of compilation remain sketchy, it has popped up on some European online music stores including FNAC and BOL, both with a release date of March 16th. That dovetails nicely with the March 17th date that the Canadian outfit Future Shop touted in their stores. Meanwhile, MusicTap indicates a March 31st release and Amazon just says it’s coming.

While it seems odd that nothing concrete has been announced about this, especially if its release is imminent, such a collection would not be marquee product and would not get the promotional push a new studio album would get. Still, the dearth of information about this compilation is puzzling.

Thanks to Darrell, Susana and Clément for the tips!

Update: Marc also points out that Billboard’s discography indicates a March 31st release date as well as providing an Epic catalog number.

    Lunch With Tori on KGSR

    Thursday, March 05, 2009 | 04:34 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Austin radio station KGSR will be celebrating SXSW with a series of live broadcasts and in-studio guests during the conference later this month. While they will not broadcast Tori’s concert at La Zona Rosa (though we have our collective fingers crossed for NPR’s SXSW coverage considering the precedent they set webcasting R.E.M.‘s SXSW appearance last year), Tori will be visiting their studios on Friday, March 20th at Noon local time to perform during “Whattya Want for Lunch” in their Music Lounge. Like any respectable radio station, KGSR streams their signal online so everyone should be able to listen in and the station archives many broadcasts as well so perhaps Tori’s appearance will be archived as well.

Thanks to Melissa for catching this and also for noting that SXSW’s schedule now lists the showtime for the La Zona Rosa showcase as 10pm local time.
