Robert Fontenot at the The Age of Epic blog has turned his attention to Night of Hunters and deemed it “Awesome.” Although his treatment of Tori’s catalogue is frequently critical, he mostly likes Tori’s latest. Click through for all the details, in his own words.
The Guardian has reported on the postponement of The Light Princess musical, providing a few more details about the decision.
As we mentioned when the word first started to leak out about this, the project is not being cancelled, just pushed back — and The Guardian’s piece is consistent with that, quoting a National theatre spokewoman who indicated that development on the musical is continuing and that a new date for the production would be announced eventually.
When interviewed on BBC 6 Music’s Radcliffe & Maconie radio program earlier this week, Tori said she was hoping for a opening near the end of 2012, perhaps around Christmas, but obviously, that is yet to be determined.
Thanks to Mike Gray for the tip.
German designers Talbot Runhof recently showed their new line at the spring/summer 2012 fashion show in Paris. What’s this got to do with Tori? The whole show was set to music based on Erik Satie’s Gnossienne no. 1, including “Battle of Trees,” which starts around the 6-minute mark. Thanks, Susan!
Tori recently spoke with an interviewer at GQ Italia about Night of Hunters, and the video is online at YouTube. This one doesn’t have a lot of new information, but it does have Italian subtitles, in case you want to brush up on your Italiano. Thanks, Maria!
As we mentioned, Tori was on BBC 6’s Radcliffe & Maconie show this week. She was also on BBC 4, where she talked about “inheritance tracks” that influenced her, including Led Zeppelin’s “Rain Song” and Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E.” You can listen to both interviews in the videos below, sent in by Maria. Enjoy!
For those of you who missed Tori’s interview on Poland’s Radio 3, you can hear it in this YouTube clip. Alas, it doesn’t include all the musical performances, but Tori does go into more depth about the symbolism in Night of Hunters than in most interviews to date. Check it out:
Thanks, Maria!
Take a deep breath… Despite what you (and we) have heard about The Light Princess musical having been pulled, pulled isn’t the same as cancelled.
For a variety of reasons, the decision was made to push the debut back from April 2012 to [likely] later in the year. But it is still 100% on. A new debut date should be announced in the coming months.
As always, we’ll continue following this and posting updates as we get them.
Since we first started dating in 1994, my husband [a sound engineer] and I have had this culinary adventure, exploring different restaurants around the world, on “non-show days”. It’s part of the romance and it’s “our time”. Although our daughter Tash often accompanies us. We brought her to Le Caprice as a baby. She was loving mussels escargot at two.
In a unique and fascinating interview with the UK Observer, Tori talks about food, from a coffee mishap at 2 to her carnivorous leanings in the early 1990s. Yum, Susan!
Some of you may know that the popular books-based-on-albums series 33 1/3 was planning a book on Boys for Pele. (It doesn’t look like we ever reported on it, though. Whoops. Yes, we did.) Well, now it looks like the project has been canceled. Bummer! Giddylicious, we promise not to shoot the messenger.
Tori is scheduled to appear on Tuesday, October 18, on the BB6 radio program “Radcliffe & Maconie.” You can check the schedule online, though we don’t know when in the program, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m. British time, she will appear. You can listen online here when the time comes. Thanks, Kelly!
