    Tavis Smiley Reminder...and Sneak Preview!

    Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 01:38 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Even though we’ve not had a chance to add it — or anything else — to the Calendar yet, don’t forget that Tori will be interviewed on the PBS program Tavis Smiley tonight. The show typically airs at 12:30 AM on most PBS stations, but definitely check your local listings to see when or if it is shown in your area.

Fortunately, PBS repeats these programs often so if you miss it today, you should have a second (or third or fourth) chance later in the week. Even more fortunately, the interviews are typically available for streaming on the Tavis Smiley website within a day or two so everyone not in the reach of a PBS station, whether in the States or not, should have a chance to see this interview before too long.

However, turns out that the musical director for the program, one Jonathan X, has uploaded a video of Tori performing “Silent All These Years” and “Carry” for the show to YouTube already! Go figger! Enjoy!

Thanks to @UpOnThe101 for the tip!

Night of Hunters Track by Track Commentary on Spotify

    Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 01:20 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

    Got Spotify?

If so, then you might be interested in knowing that there is a companion album available on this digital music service called About Night of Hunters. This collection contains short commentary on each track of the album, as introduced by Tori herself.

If you’re not on Spotify already, there are a number of options available to join thoughy be warned that, at this point at least, the commentary is only available to US Spotify users. Hopefully that will change soon.

A sage nod of our head to @EarWithFeet for mentioning this on Tumblr which is where we found out about this.

    Classic FM Interview

    Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 01:05 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Classic FM, a leading broadcaster of classical music in the United Kingdom, posted an interview with Tori today. Classic FM presenter Anne-Marie Minhall travelled to Ireland to meet with Tori and to discuss the new album and her on-going relationship with classical music. The interview is available on YouTube and is embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks to @torismaze and Sean for letting us know about this!

    Salon Interview (September 20, 2011)

    Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 00:42 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

If [the masters and I] make a new being together, these dead guys and this live woman — then the woman has to be the one who permeates the seed. That’s how it’s got to work. That was kind of sexy, I thought. These dead guys started coming very much alive in my life. I walked with their ghosts and immersed myself in their work. And they would guide me and scream at me and all kinds of things.

Tori spoke to Annie Zaleski for Salon magazine and their interview went up on their website today. Their conversation covered everything from relationships to plans for the upcoming tour to, of course, the record itself.

This is a good discussion and definitely worth the read.

Gotta Question For Tori? Perez Wants To Know.

    Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 00:32 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Everybody’s favorite person to hate, Perez Hilton, will be interviewing Tori soon and has asked for fans to send him questions to ask her. We’re not sure when the interview will be taking place — or even if it has already — but if there is something you’ve always been wondering about or have a suggestion for him, feel free to leave a comment there. We’ll certainly be linking to the interview once it’s posted!

Thanks to Devin and Lorna for the tip!

    A Note About The Score...

    Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 00:12 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Several people have reported that the score for Night of Hunters, an exclusive download with the deluxe edition of the album on iTunes, turns out to not have any of the music for the piano! All other instruments — the string quartet and the woodwinds — as well are the vocal lines are there, but the piano is a glaring omission. We’re not sure if this foreshadows a sheet music book for the album that will be published later or if this is just a simple omission but those of you hoping for the complete music to the album to be included in the document, be aware of this!

Thanks Paul-Roy and somacub for letting us know.

Happy Night of Hunters Release Week!

    Tuesday, September 20, 2011 | 05:28 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

In case you weren’t paying attention to the deluge of reviews, interviews and the other flotsam and jetsam we’ve been posting over the past few days, this week marks the world-wide release of Night of Hunters. Hopefully those of you so inclined to so will be able to get your mitts on the new release by hook or crook or, if you pre-ordered, by postal delivery.

Also, just a quick reminder for those in the States that 11:59 PM Pacific tonight marks the deadline to get your entry in to the pre-release sweepstakes and a chance to win front-row tickets to a show on the North American leg of the tour or a personally-signed copy of the vinyl release of the album. Good luck to those testing their luck there!

Not to be out-done, Australian retailer JB HiFi will be giving away a framed and autographed print of the album’s cover artwork to one lucky Australian who orders either the regular or deluxe edition of the album from their website prior to October 6th. The winner will be drawn randomly from all who ordered the record online and notified soon after the October 6th deadline.

The Scotsman Night of Hunters Review

    Tuesday, September 20, 2011 | 05:16 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews

Appearing this past weekend in Scotland on Sunday and on The Scotsman’s ebsite today, Colin Somerville’s review of Night of Hunters calls it “intensely personal” and “a real record by a real artist,” while noting that its song-cycle concept makes it a cohesive whole. No score is given, but it’s certainly tips the scales on the “good” side.

Thanks to Erin for bringing it to our attention!

Associated Press Night of Hunters Review

    Tuesday, September 20, 2011 | 04:40 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews

The Associated Press’ review of Night of Hunters was published today. We found it on Yahoo News, but expect to it appear in many newspapers, online and in print, across the States throughout the week. Karen Hawkins gives the record good marks but notes its complex nature and laments the disappearance of Tori’s “pointedly poignant, and accessible, lyrics of her earlier work.”

Thanks to our buddy “Google Alerts* for catching this one!
