Me and my other half really loved the show tonight, hey they say the woman is past her peak but certainly you wouldn’t know it from watching her live! She rocked the house all by herself, growled and punched the piano and sang high and low, some songs she did really great, we were truly happy.

    2. @iammatthewwolf says:

As per all the other reviews, she looks and sounds amazing. HONESTLY the show felt a bit flat tonight. She didn’t loosen up til the encore really. And the covers weren’t really very inspired. Wild Way and Invisible Boy were the standouts by a mile, GOOD LORD they sound incredible live. Fairytale was the other highlight.

And really and truly, that backing track for Cornflake Girl was so heinous it’s untrue. What a weird weird weird idea. She looked awkward and it sounded shit. Sorry everyone. But Tori, get a grip. Whhhyyyyyy

As ever though, she could sing a 90 minute version of Giant’s Rolling Pin and I’d still be deliriously happy. Girl still got it.

    3. Martin says:

Tori was fantastic tonight, and her voice was on perfect form. Those high notes – blimey!

Even though I’ve heard Winter and Little Earthquakes so many times in concert, she really nailed them tonight. Stunningly well performed.

Highlights for me were Pancake, Wild Way, Rattlesnakes, Invisible Boy and Hey Jupiter.

I really would have liked to hear some of the more obscure songs that she’s been doing lately (Frog on My Toe, Etienne, Black Dove etc) and a few more songs from Geraldines, but the show was still amazing.

I’m not entirely sure iieee worked, but I loved it anyway. Purple People isn’t one of my favourite songs (sorry, I know, sacrilege), and I did feel this one lost the audience a bit. She really got her teeth into Sugar, Mr Zebra, Teen Spirit, TTTS and Fairytale – you can tell she loves performing these live.

I utterly adore the slower, solo version of Taxi Ride and I was so glad she played it tonight. I would love to hear a studio-recorded version of it one day.

This evening had me reaching for my Little Earthquakes and Scarlet’s Walk CDs!

During the “Tori says Hello” section she said that she had lots of requests and would try to play as many as she could. Whilst it was a great set list it did feel a bit as if she was on “shuffle” churning out the classics (LE,Crucify, Cornflake Girl, Take to the Sky, and covers that she has released and are well known) There did not seem to be a clear flow “Wild Way/Mr. Zebra/Purple People” being a good example of some clunky sequencing. Cornflake girl was simply awful with a backing track and felt like someone on their first tour who had not worked out how to present their studio work live. Sugar, A sorta fairytale and Invisible boy were great. Hey Jupiter was beautiful but a bit of a bleak note to end on.

    5. April says:

Fantastic show. Lots of my favourite girls showed up (Iieee, Taxi Ride, Sugar, Little Earthquakes, Rattlesnakes). Everyone was really into it and Tori was on top form. Only gripe I have is when everyone stood up for Cornflake Girl no one sat back down so I (and probably many others in the arena) couldn’t see anything! I had to hold my phone above my head to snap pictures. I have noticed this tour that she is doing shorter sets…. I think last night was 18 songs? When I think she does about 23 or so normally. It was over too quickly but maybe that’s just because time flies when you’re having fun. Amazing and I can’t wait to see her again. I hope she plays Wales in the near future!

    6. Mary says:

While it would have been lovely to see some (any) rarities, the favourites here were all performed so brilliantly that even the most hardcore fan couldn’t help but be swept up in what was ultimately a crowd-pleasing gig.

Sugar, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Little Earthquakes and Take to the Sky were the high points, with Tori’s voice incredibly powerful throughout, especially when she switched registers throughout the last third of Little Earthquakes, and belted out the Datura bridge (best Tori lyric ever, surely).

She seemed much more confident tonight than she had performing over the last few years; while shows with the Metropole and the Fab Four were wonderful, having to stick to rigidly rehearsed timings (or watch a composer) doesn’t bring out her most intense or heartfelt performances. When she doesn’t have to think about anyone else, her phrasing and performance are far more expressive (“when they find out you’ve got a little in here” from Sugar was perfect tonight).

As other reviews have said, Cornflake Girl was a little strange, but for a tour and an album themed around aging, there was something really joyful about hearing her sing along to her own voice, twenty years ago. Her voice back then was crystal clear, but today it’s lower, darker and fuller. Hearing the voices together was mesmerising.

Age has changed her, and tonight was the first time I think I’ve seen her really embrace that, with wisdom, passion and defiance.

    7. Neal says:

It was a great show! I completely disagree with the reviewer who said the show was flat – I don’t think shes ever done a flat show in her life! The crowd were great, it was brilliant that she did Pancake and Taxi ride – Wild Way got instant heartfelt response, Rattlesnakes was brilliant, Smells like teen spirit was one of the best ever performances of the song and that got a great crowd response.

I wasn’t expecting the backing track for Cornflake Girl – I hadnt read other reviews – but I thought it was a brilliant idea and it got the whole of the arena up on their feet and a lot of the stalls (where I was) too. That definitely got people cheering and grooving and I actually think if she did a few other like that ie Bouncing Off Clouds, A Sorta Farytale – basically anything with a groove, then it would have definitely been great encore songs where everyone is up on their feet anyway.

My only complaint is that it could have gone on longer! More songs please next time – about another half an hour would do! lol

    8. Tipsy says:

Stunning concert….highlights for me were Smells Like Teen Spirits, Sugar, Purple People….

Enjoy my partial recording of the show, has been mixed a bit….unfortunatly it stops at the beginning of Winter..
