I never ever give reviews. But this show was absolutely the best I’ve ever seen! WOW!

    2. somacub says:

Just a quick note, I’ll probably write a full-on review later : the incident during Big Wheel happened when security was getting pretty forceful regarding getting people back to their seats…Tori was right at the “countdown” part of the song when she started pointing to the front rows, and even said “come here Smitty!” really fast after “gimme four”...at the three count, she said “stop!”, hopped off her stool and came to the front of the stage and said “okay, get out of my fucking show!”. after going back to the mic, she had a little speech about how people were just trying to dance and have fun and “this isn’t school!”. the crowd really seemed to get a kick out of it, and i’m sure the fans up front appreciated the sentiment – the entire audience was up and moving when she restarted the countdown.

Oh, and Mountain….oh, Mountain…so good to finally hear it live, very groovy and upbeat.

    3. Dor says:

It was the best Clyde show of the tour so far!!!

The audience was GREAT – nice job Charlotte.

      Mountain Ruled.

    4. Pete Bottiglieri says:

AWESOME SHOW!!! She did Little Earthquakes!!!! YAY! not to mention a lot of my favorites. I can Die a happy man. I am glad Tori said something to the security like that. They tend to ruin an experience.

    5. Jessica says:

Great show, the crowd was a little rowdy at times but tori seemed to like that and said it was because us north carolinians had “fire in us” which i thought was a kick. i couldn’t tell from my seating what was going on up front when she stopped the show, i thought someone was possibly fighting and thats why she stopped, but i think its hilarious that the incident was due to over-bearing security. anyway…

i wanted to see pip, because i love it when tori gets freaky but clyde was awesome. it was great to hear mountain too, lots of folks didn’t seem to recognize it.

marianne during the solo time was perfect, that song is always powerful…and virginia! love it, always.

one thing that always pisses me off is all the hooting and hollering by drunk people though. seriously, who wants to get drunk at a tori show? there is a time and a place for all that but not there! at least everyone was having a good time. i went by myself and enjoyed chatting with other toriphiles =) too bad this was the only show i’m going to make it too! after 12 years of being a huge tori fan, it makes me smile to think how i’ve grown and how her music has shaped me from young girl into a grown woman. Yay TORI!

    6. Samantha says:

3rd tori concert, third time was definitely a charm. It was a lot of fun, best show ever.

    7. Wendy says:

Awesome beyond words! Tori was full of energy, passion and playfulness tonight. I missed what was going on in the front during big wheel as I was much further back, but still has a good view of the stage. Hard to say what the highlights were cause it was all so great. Famous blue raincoat and your cloud were sung so especially well. Siren was spectacular. I know it’s not the first time she’s done it this tour, but it was the first time I was there ever to hear it sung and I was so elated. Loved, loved, loved this show! It was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive and then getting lost for 3 hours trying to find the place, and we were extremely stressed from that! Tori just melted all that away and I was left happy and uplifted. This was only my second Tori show, but it was the best one yet!

    8. Ginny says:

The show was amazing tonight! I thought Tori sounded very strong and I was thrilled to see Clyde! I was in a Clyde mood today. I loved hearing Bouncing Off Clouds, Little Earthquakes, Siren, Mountain, and Carolina on my Mind.

I finally got to meet Tori for the first time, and she was every bit as kind and grounded as everyone says. I think everyone at the afternoon M&G got to meet her. Special thanks to 2 men I met at the M&G named Jamie and Chad. The other M&G I went to in South Carolina a few years ago was miserable with a good deal of rudeness directed at newcomers. I very nearly didn’t bother today but decided to give it one more shot. These two were very kind to me (as well as other M&G newbies), and Jamie gave me a poster he got off the wall when he saw me before the concert. I really enjoyed meeting you and will remember your kindness always!

I was pretty aggravated with the guy behind me who thought I wanted to hear him sing Siren and the guys who stood in the aisle by my chair and talked through the majority of the show even after I asked them to stop. A lot of people were getting up and down (climbing over folks) in the balcony as well. But I thought as a whole the crowd was very energetic and fun.

    9. Brad H says:

This was absolutely incredible! I’ve been to 3 of her shows since 98 and this was the best of them. At www.toriamosbootlegs.com ,they are releasing official bootlegs of live shows, but unfortunately, this is not going to be one of them! Anyone record it…?????

    10. Frankie Beckham says:

Holy Cow!!! I have been to many shows and have been with Tori all the way from Little Earthquakes. Yesterday was the best day of my life! Our trip from Myrtle Beach was full of amazing road side omens. We took the back roads where we saw a lot of random concrete Jesus statues and random redneck tackiness.

We got to the venue and met Tori for the first time and it was amazing. For such a small person she has the most amazing presence. Her aura demands so much appreciation and respect and she completely gives back in every manner. She stayed and met everyone at the meet and greet which I know was for a good hour or so.

All I have to say about the show was that the set list was just perfect. It was as if she was taking a walk through all of our minds and saying, “What can I do next to shock you?” I heard so many songs I have always wanted to hear live and my eyes were a waterfall during Little Earthquakes.

When Tori yelled at security…for those of you that were not there to see it. DAMN! I have never seen a sight so fierce in my life. When that goddess yelled “Stop!” to the band she jumped up and just had the most defiant walk to the very edge of that stage. A friend of mine was in the balcony and said they all could hear clear as day Tori yelling “Get the fuck out of my show! Get the fuck out asshole!” It was a sight to behold. I think we got a nice little piece of Pip for a second there. I wouldn’t know what to think if I looked up and saw a shiny sequin suit in Marc Jacob heels running towards me yelling “Get the fuck out!” She is absolute power. After the incident the look on Jon Evans’ face was priceless. He didn’t know what was next. The whole bit about this not being school and “I told them you North Carolinians would not be taking any of this sitting on your asses! Boys, give me riff!” was so cool and really set the tempo for the crowd!

Of all concerts I have been to, and I mean all artist, this was the best concert ever. And I am certain that Charlotte got the best show of the entire tour! She is strong and ever going and I am certain we will see her in Charlotte again soon.

Every fan we met that day was so nice and all of Ovens Auditorium seemed to be on the edge of their seats waiting on her.

    11. MARYMAC says:

OMG THIS WAS THE MOST AMAZING TORI CONCERT EVER EVER EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!! it was wonderful…— i was one of the people up at the stage getting everybody up out of their seats and what made her stop and yell at the security guard was one because she loves her fans and two b/c she saw the guard at the right of the stage grab, like a really forceful manhandle grab that probably hurt her… and that was when she jumped up and welcomed everybody up to the stage. (from a comment on charlotte.com, this says it pretty well: “Security had been roaming around in front of the stage, making people return to their seats, Right before she jumped up, she seemed to be asking for help from her own security people. She yelled, ‘Get the F… OUT OF MY CONCERT!’ Then she returned to the microphone and said, ‘This isn’t school!’ ... pretty funny.”

OK man i’m still on cloud nine after this show i haven’t stopped smiling!—- this show was amazing and i loved that tori seemed to love it as much as we did! !!!! YaY— and her voice sounded perfect, her piano playing always wonderful—- i loved it— this was def. my fav. show out of the many shows i’ve been to. MWAH tori!

      ps. damn! i didn’t know there was a meet&greet!

    12. stepholeigh says:

I never give reviews, either, but this show – the whole day yesterday – was AMAZING!! The M&G crowd was awesome. Everyone was so cool. Talking to Tori completely blew my mind – I brought a picture of us at my first show 11 years ago, and she was laughing at how she looked and how Joel had a mullet!

Then to rush the stage was completely surreal. I still can’t get my head around it all! That had to be one of the best days of my life, and definitely the best of the 10 shows I’ve been to!

    13. Andrew Nesbitt says:

This was my 7th time seeing Tori and she always plays an incredible concert in Charlotte especially when she comes to Ovens. I could not believe she brought back so much old stuff. That definitely made the show 100 times better, Crucify, Cornflake, Little, Marianne. I am very partial to Marianne because Boys was my first ever Tori CD. And not to mention the debut of Mountain and of course Famous Blue Raincoat. All around the show was just mind blowing. And as far as the Big Wheel incident I have to quote Frankie “I wouldn’t know what to think if I looked up and saw a shiny sequin suit in Marc Jacob heels running towards me yelling “Get the fuck out!” She is absolute power.” I could not have summed it up better than that. I really hope somebody taped this show since its becoming pretty evident that she’s not releasing the show as a bootleg. Hopefully she will reconsider and add it to the list because they do record every show regardless if it gets released or not. Come back soon Tori I already miss you.

    14. Jess says:

I am still reeling from the energy of this show. I have seen Tori several times and it has never been this intense. That said, it was a happy, lively intensity. Tori was smiling and dancing the entire time and it was obvious that she was feeding off the crowd and having a good time doing it.

I had the amazing opportunity to meet her after the show and she actually commented on the crowd. She said, “That was really something, wasn’t it? They were wild tonight!” Clearly she loved the energy from the crowd.

I wasn’t crazy about everybody rushing the stage, but I think that’s because she’s trained us to feel that way! So once I realized that she was cool with it, so was I.

Virginia and Juarez were on my wishlist, so I was thrilled to hear them. Little Earthquakes was a treat, as were Famous Blue Raincoat, Marianne, and Rattlesnakes.

    15. Wendi with an I says:

This show was amazing. I will try to get some coherent thoughts together as I drove from WV to Charlotte and then back to WV yesterday, slept 3 hours, and then went to work (which is teaching elementary school) today.

I was fortunate enough to get Platinum VIP tickets for this show. This was the only show that I was able to attend on this tour. We arrived at the venue around 4:30. The VIP part started at 5:00 but they were running a little behind so we were let in around 5:10. Ali was super nice. We were checked in, did the crowd free shopping, then waited. Yoav came in and he did two songs for us while we waited to go to the sound check. During the sound check she played Concertina and Tear In Your Hand. Then it was time to go meet her.

I have never met Tori and have only really tried a couple of times but never got close enough. She was so nice and gracious and I was a blubbering idiot. I said what I needed to say to her, my husband was up there with me. She turned to him and said, “You’ve got a good woman” and I could’ve died right there. She signed our things for us, we took our pictures, and then it was over.

We were dead center in row F. The incident during Big Wheel is as described. At the end of Clyde’s set security went around shining a flashlight at people with cameras and telling them to put them away. During Professional Widow people were up dancing and then when Tori came out as Tori and started playing Big Wheel the crowd went crazy. People were up dancing in the isles and around the stage. Security tried to get them to go back to their seats and that is when she yelled “STOP!” She marched up to the front of the stage and said, “Get the fuck out of my show!” It was just priceless.

I really hope they reconsider and release this as one of the bootlegs. It was an amazing show. I met some really nice sisters from VA Meredith and Katherine. I hope she tours again sooner rather than later.

    16. Speedie says:

I’ve seen tori many times but THIS SHOW WAS THE BEST! It was a very magical and intimate show. Her voice was AMAZING! I loved when during Big Wheel she told the security people to get the fuck out of her show because people wanted to dance… And then everyone rushed the stage early.

I was lucky to finally meet her and have a photo with her after so many years. I asked her for Roosterspur and she delivered flawlessly!!! AND!!! Thanks to some great friends I was front row center! So I got some pretty OK video. [Thanks for the video clips -- they are embedded above as well.]

ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE!

    17. Kels says:

I have been a fan of tori for some years now, but last night was my first show (I know I’m ashamed). I could not have asked for a better show or experience. Amazing set list, amazing energy, and amazing crowd!!! Well worth the four hours of driving!! Seeing her live and so raw was everything and more than I could have ever dreamed of. Really takes your appreciation of her to an entirely new level, won’t be the last time for me.

      Thanks, for everything Aaron!!

    18. Holly says:

well, apparently it depends on where you were sitting as to whether or not you enjoyed the show. but my boyfriend and i were surrounded by extremely loud talkers, singers and people who just couldn’t stay in their seats for the duration of even one song!! and i don’t mean standing up and getting into the music. i have no problem with that. i’m talking about constantly going up and down the aisles getting drinks or god knows, what else. i’ve never experienced a tori show like that. there really wasn’t one time during the entire show that there wasn’t someone walking up and down the aisles. i felt like i was in a bar where people were just freely talking to their friends and only shutting up at the end of every song long enough to clap and scream, “i love you!” or “tear in your hand!” one guy behind us kept screaming “noooooooooo don’t go!! soooo sad!!” every time it seemed to be the last song, as if he’d been intently watching the show in the first place instead of getting up and down like and asshole and talking all night. i know everyone has their own way of enjoying a show. they paid for it just like i did. but i just wish there was a separate section for all the people who want to act like that. the singers, the talkers, the drinkers w/o manners, etc. total shits.

    19. casey says:

i enjoyed the show immensely. we were on the 4th row and I can say the only annoying thing was the folks standing up w/ camera phones filming entire songs. I’m short and even standing i couldn’t see tori well b/c of these folks. I know it’s a great opportunity and great when security guards don’t take cameras away as they have done in past tori concerts i’ve been to before. I wish there were a way to keep this from happening next time tho, b/c i really would’ve loved to have seen more of tori. Also did anyone notice the handicapped people on the front row? when everyone rushed the stage all they had to look at were peoples butts.

I love standing during shows and getting into the music but someone said in another review, what’s the point of buying front row ticket when people from the back can come up to the stage anyways?

i’m so very happy she played little earthquakes, and the lights were perfect w/ the music. There was a lull in the show i thought but all in all a very great awesome night :)

    20. Stinky says:

This was my 11th show since 1998, and 4th for this tour, and only once was in the first 20 rows (8th row). I was so fortunate to have a front row seat for this show! Pretty much dead center, too. I think we stood up for Bouncing Off Clouds, but the rest of Clyde set was calm. I felt weird smiling during a lot of the songs that were kind of sad, because I knew Tori could probably see me. When she pointed her guns toward me during the “spill you seed” line from Juarez and then I couldn’t help smile.

At the Widow interlude, some of the more vivacious members of the audience were running in front of us yelling “Come on guys, this is Tori! Get up and dance with us!” It was so funny. I kept telling my friends I wasn’t going to risk getting kicked out tonight.

At first, I was thinking Tori was actually a little fearful of the rowdy fans during the Big Wheel, but then it became apparent she was on the fans’ side (of course!) Maybe she knew this was the only way to control the situation. One thing she also said was “As long as we don’t hurt each other”. This would have been an amazing show anyway, but I had a much better view standing up. My friends were upset that I let people get in front of me, but I could still see her so much better. During “Your Cloud” I was right up at the stage with my arm around my friend and she was looking at us singing “Stay right here, stay with this”. It was a beautiful evening. I feel really bad for people who are near obnoxious people. I have been having the most amazing experiences at these shows and I find almost all the fans to be so great. Tori is too good to us!
