    Upcoming Tori TV

    Friday, August 11, 2006 | 03:24 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

RAVE HD, a High Definition TV channel available on DISH Network satellite TV, will be airing the episode of Soundstage featuring Tori several times over the next few days (all times Eastern):

    • Friday, August 11: 2:00PM
    • Saturday, August 12: 8:00PM
    • Sunday, August 13: 10:00AM
    • Wednesday, August 16: 3:00PM
    • Thursday, August 17: 8:00AM
    • Friday, August 19: 2:00AM

Also this weekend, Ovation will be airing the Music Express interview with Tori, about which we are still looking for some details, two more times:

    • Saturday, August 12: 8:00PM ET
    • Sunday, August 13: 12:00AM (Midnight Saturday night, that is)

Finally, Showtime Too will be airing Mayor Of The Sunset Strip, a documentary about Los Angeles deejay Rodney Bingenheimer, on Monday, August 14th at 3:55AM Eastern (late Sunday night ). Tori is one of many performers and celebrities who were interviewed for this film so her face time is quite minimal.

    Inspired By The Unthinkable

    Thursday, August 03, 2006 | 14:08 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Tori received a mention in Inspired by the Unthinkable, a sidebar to the cover story of the August 7, 2006 issue of Newsweek which samples some of the art created in response to the September 11th terrorist attacks:

    October 28, 2002

Tori Amos releases Scarlet’s Walk, her compelling statement on America, post-9/11: “It’s easy to say ‘these evildoers,’ and yet our own country was founded in the same way,” she says. “Talk to the Cherokee nation.”

Newsweek has posted a multimedia version of this sidebar on their website with clips of the artists they singled out. Tori’s is a still shot of her performing live while “I Can’t See New York” plays.

Thanks to kaycee and Rachel for letting us know about this! Catches Up...

Thursday, August 03, 2006 | 13:32 UTC | Posted by woj | RAINN,Releases sent out their latest e-mail newsletter yesterday evening. It focused primarily on A Piano: The Collection, but there was also a healthy dose of RAINN news included as well. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any new news in the newsletter, but it’s good to see some stirrings of activity from the Tori Camp.

    The Tori Store Is Upgrading

    Saturday, July 29, 2006 | 12:42 UTC | Posted by Violet | Toriphiles

The nice folks at The Tori Store would like you to know that the site is currently undergoing an upgrade. Please be patient and check back soon, as this will only take a short time. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

    UPDATE: And it’s back!

    AfterEllen Queers Up The Classics

    Thursday, July 27, 2006 | 05:34 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

AfterEllen fingers Tori’s covers of The Rolling Stones’ “Angie” and Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” as two of the “Top 10 queered covers of heterosexual love songs.” Lest anyone worry about Husband Mark’s potential fate though, this is a list of men’s love songs to women covered by women, regardless of their orientation—though Tori’s gay-friendly position may have factored in her favor as she is the only artist who has two songs on the list. Interestingly, despite describing “Angie” as “one of the most beautiful cover songs Amos ever recorded or performed,” it placed tenth behind the fifth-place “I’m On Fire”. One supposes it’s “the liquid sex of [her] voice,” which vaulted the latter above the former.

A tip of the hat to Marie for tipping us off to this tidbit! (And a tip of the hat to AfterEllen for picking up on the relatively uncommon “I’m On Fire” cover that, despite what they say, was commercially released on the VH1 Crossroads collection!)

UPDATE: Thanks to Andrew for contacting AfterEllen and letting them know about the VH1 Crossroads release; they’ve updated their list to include this information.

    A Piano: The Box

    Wednesday, July 26, 2006 | 03:57 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

Ta-da! Yes indeed, this is it. It really, really is. No kidding. A photo of the boxed set.

Start cracking those piggy banks open!

(Kudos to Doron, Sweet Shiseido, Andrew, and Helen for ferreting this out.)

Note On A Piano: The Collection

    Monday, July 24, 2006 | 09:21 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

For the fans who’ve been wondering, the graphic you’ve seen thusfar for A Piano: The Collection (the one patiently sleeping over in our right-hand column) is NOT the artwork for the project itself. It is a temporary image.

The press release promises “deluxe packaging that resembles a piano’s keyboard” ... we’re told that’s the key. We haven’t seen the real artwork, but we are confident it will be something special and very unique.

Neil Made Her A Tree, But Can Tinseltown?

    Monday, July 24, 2006 | 08:52 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries,Them

In his most recent journal entry, Neil includes a link to an article in the Hollywood Reporter’s “Risky Biz Blog” in which Stardust scriptwriter, Jane Goldman, confirms that they would like to have Tori do the voice of the tree if a deal can be negotiated. Having finished filming earlier this month, the movie is currently in post-production and is scheduled for theatrical release in March, 2007.

(Thanks to marla for letting us know about this.)

    Overview: Pretty Good Years

    Friday, July 21, 2006 | 06:52 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries,Releases

Pretty Good Years has finally been released. I was tentative in my hopefulness when I got a message from Amazon saying my order had shipped, but yes indeed, it really did arrive. I have no idea why the publisher told us the book was back-ordered and would be available in August (they still don’t have a release date listed on their own site).

This is Undented’s overview of the book.

Rare Opportunity To Get Intimate With Jon

    Monday, July 17, 2006 | 20:36 UTC | Posted by Violet | Them

(wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?)

Okay, perhaps not, so here’s the skinny, you lot with the dirty minds…

Toriphiles in the London area will have an opportunity to hear Jon Evans’s jazzier side as he performs with our good friend, acclaimed singer/songwriter Emily Bezar, in an intimate club setting this coming Wednesday (July 19th). Then … Malta!
