News: Welcome to Undented

Welcome, welcome! My name is Violet, and I am so happy to have you here and to be organizing this site for the Tori Amos community.

This is a bittersweet thing for me. Mikewhy has been a dear friend of mine for many years and, like you, I am heart-broken about the Dent retiring. I’ll admit it, I got misty-eyed when he told me and felt sick to my stomach for days. But the good news is that the Dent will remain archived on the server indefinitely (meaning “as close to forever as we can possibly manage”) and Mike will be working as one of Undented’s managing editors, so he’ll never be far away.

Mike, woj, and I each care deeply about the EWF community and will work hard to keep you up to date on the latest Tori Amos news.

I know there isn’t much here yet, just the Tori News section to start—and of course there’s not a whole lot going on by way of Tori news right now—but we hope you will be patient with us. The Dent was a fully-fleshed site that had been around for 10 years; Undented is a brand new little baby site and needs time to grow. Remember what they say about little acorns. In the months to come, with your help, we will be creating new sections and cramming them until they burst. We need all of you to get involved in making Undented the site YOU want it to be.

I would like to take a moment to thank a few people for making this site possible. Thanks to:

• Mikewhy for his unwavering friendship, inspiration, and support. Seems like it was only yesterday when I was encouraging him about a little slip of a Tori Amos website he’d started. Time really flies…

• Kim, for playing Ricky to my Lucy, putting up with all my crazy hair-brained red-headed schemes and loving me anyway

• Ruud van Melick, tech wizard extraordinaire, for devoting hours and hours to literally making everything on this site actually work, being infinitely patient, teaching me about all things computer, and for always being there for me

• woj, who is absolutely amazing and always has it together, and who has helped me keep it together for so many years

• Scotch for creating such a beautiful launch graphic and coming up with a great domain name

• Chris Aynesworth for brainstorming with me, helping me clean up the terrible low-res graphic I was struggling with, being a dear friend, and for not barfing on my shoes at the bar

• All the site owners and forum users who mentioned Undented and were kind and supportive with their words, I did see that and appreciated it so much … I hope this site will live up to your expectations

• And last but not least, to Rosie and Wooly, two shining little lights that went out in my life this past week. Pushing on through this grief has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. You brought me so much joy. I miss you.

We are working on adding news items to the site to get it fully up-to-date, so you will see it growing each day. Even the design will change as we grow. Think of this as the beta version. Is there something we don’t have up that you think we should? Let us know.
