News: File Download Solutions For Mac Users

Posted by Violet on Saturday, December 15, 2007 | Releases,Toriphiles

Jump the cut to see several solutions offered to Mac users having trouble downloading the free song files from Toriamos.com, mine included.

    • An anonymous reader says to use Firefox (NOT Safari) and save it without hiding the extension (so that its clear its being saved as an mp3).
    • Lucie_S says that perhaps people having Mac problems may not be downloading correctly: the problem may be trying to “right-click” when you have to “ctrl-clik” with Mac. She also suggests that on Macs, sometimes it’s as simple as manually typing “.mp3” at the end of the document name. [I often have to do that myself, and it does work. I’m not sure it will work in this case, since I’m not 100% sure what’s going on with the problem downloads, but it wouldn’t hurt to give that a try. — Violet]
    • Davey was using Mac OS X (10.5) and says the download kept hanging in Safari, so he switched to Firefox and had no trouble. Afterward the files were fine and all had .mp3 extensions.
    • Another anonymous Mac user says she downloaded in iTunes and had no trouble. She downloaded the files to her desktop, and they all had the .mp3 extension. Then she just threw them into her iTunes program and started listening to “Amber Waves.”
    • Mike says the Mac user must right-click and “save target as”. The download will show up under Window -> Downloads. [As mentioned above, right-click on the Mac is ctrl+click, then you choose what you want to do from there. — Violet]
    • Susan says that the files will download like a document if you just click on them like you normaly would as a Windows user. She used right-click (clicking the mouse and pressing the shift button) and then chose the “save the downloaded link as…” and saved it to her desktop. It then saved as an mp3 format and she was able to bring it into itunes and put it onto her iPod.
    • Finally, personally I (Violet) just did ctrl+click then “Download Linked File” and the files downloaded with no trouble. Result! I’m using Mac OSX with Safari.
