NASH TO PERFORM TORI AMOS, 10/2

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is proud to announce Brian Nash’s debut solo show, BRIAN NASH: BOYS FOR PELE, October 2nd 2006 at 7pm. Nash, a pianist in The Duplex’s piano bar for the last 3 years, will be performing Tori Amos’ seminal third record, Boys for Pele, in its entirety. As much of the musical material focuses on the use of the harpsichord, Nash will be playing both piano and harpsichord on the Duplex stage. This show has a $10 cover charge, and a 2-drink minimum. 21+. Space is extremely limited, so reservations are required, and can be made by calling (212) 255-5438. Tori Amos is an American pianist and singer-songwriter. Amos was at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s and is noteworthy as one of the few modern pop music stars to use a piano as her primary instrument. Amos enjoyes a large cult following, selling around 12 million albums worldwide during her lengthy solo career. Her albums include Little Earthquakes, Boys for Pele, From the Choirgirl Hotel, Scarlet’s Walk, and The Beekeeper. A career retrospective boxed set, Tori Amos: A Piano, is scheduled for release September 26th, 2006.

BRIAN J. NASH has been music directing and orchestrating for the theater since the age of 16. In the past decade, he has music directed over 40 shows, led orchestras for concert, stage, and recordings, orchestrated and arranged for theater pieces and rock bands, and produced several albums. Recently, Brian music directed, orchestrated, and co-produced SILENCE! The Musical, winner of the Outstanding Musical award for FringeNYC 2005. Other recent projects include Something’s Wrong With Amandine at TheatreWorks New Works Festival in Palo Alto, CA, Phenomenon at HERE, But I’m A Cheerleader for NYMF 2005, and A Broadway Diva Christmas, starring Ellen Greene and Kathy Brier. Other NYC and regional credits include Songs for a New World, Kate Pazakis’ The Sexless Years, John Hill’s Skinny Corpse, Red, Room to Grow, Lend Me a Tenor, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Rocky Horror Show. Brian has produced albums for singer/songwriters Justin Tranter, Shanna Sharp, and Stacy Allyn Baker, recently made his Kennedy Center and Birdland debut with Natalie Douglas, and is in extensive demand as a pianist and singer throughout NYC. His first songs were written for a recent edition of TheATrainPlays, and were featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. Brian holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Boston Conservatory, studied record production at Berklee College of Music, and, with Mark Hartman and John Pinckard, is one-third of B Major Theatricals.
