    Berlin: Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye

    Tuesday, October 16, 2012 | 01:50 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight saw the brief but brilliant Gold Dust Orchestral Tour come to a close at Berlin’s Philharmonie. After the one night in Warsaw without them, Tori was rejoined by the Metropole Orkest for the final performance of the tour so, nce again, the full set was played.

There were few variations though. “Upside Down” was the solo song during the first half of the concert. A second solo song, “Mr. Zebra,” was played during the second half of the show. “Leather” and “Silent All These Years” swapped locations in the setlist. Finally, during the encore, Tori added a solo rendition of “So Long, Farewell” from The Sound of Music.

The full setlist, thanks to the fine and appreciated efforts of @movemeantTO, has been posted in the Tour section…along with the parody setlist we posted to Twitter as the show unfolded. (Laughs not guaranteed; no song girls were harmed in the making of the parody setlist; your mileage will vary; contents packed by weight not by volume and may have settled during shipping.) (Hey, we’re not comedians but we play them on the Internet.)

If you were at the final show and would like to share your thoughts on the evening, we’d love to have them posted. Please leave a review via the comment form and we’ll get it added soon as we can.

Finally, thanks, as always, to the tweeters and reviewers and commentators and videographers and photographers and everyone who has helped us to cover these shows. We couldn’t do it without you and we truly appreciate your contributions, Thank you very very much!

Tori’s appeared on ZDF’s Morgenmagazin television program this morning. After a little chat with the host about Gold Dust, tonight’s performance at Berlin’s Philharmonie and her dedicated fanbase, Tori sat down at the piano and played “Cloud On My Tongue.”

The appearance is now archived — watch it in ZDF’s Mediathek.

Update The video has also been uploaded to YouTube by lllilquidDiamonds:

    The ECHO Klassik Awards

    Monday, October 15, 2012 | 01:34 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

Tori accepted the ECHO Klassik award she won for Night of Hunters at an awards ceremony tonight at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.

She was one of three artists to receive a Klassik-Ohne-Grenzen (Classical Without Borders) prize.

While she did not perform at the awards ceremony, she did present an ECHO Klassik “Nachwuchskünstlerin” (Up and Coming Artist) award to the outstanding pianist Khatia Buniatishvili for her Franz Liszt collection released last year.

The awards ceremony was broadcast on ZDF and should be archived on ZDF.de soon.

Tori was interviewed on the red carpet before the ceremony by ECHO Klassik’s Axel Brüggemann and they’ve shared a clip of it on YouTube:

Don’t forget: Tori will be one of the guests on ZDF’s Morgenmagazin morning television program. The show airs from 5:30 to 9:00 AM CEST but Klassik Akzente reports that she’ll be on during the last hour of the program.

Update Thanks to llliquidDiamonds, you can watch the portion of the ceremony where Tori receives her award on YouTube:

    Dzień Dobry TVN Welcomes Tori

    Monday, October 15, 2012 | 01:14 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

On Saturday, before the concert in Warsaw, Tori made an appearance on the Polish morning television program Dzień Dobry TVN. She chatted for a bit with the hosts about Tori’s affinity for Poland, Gold Dust, her current projects and that evening’s performance with the Polish Radio Orchestra and then lip-synced to “Precious Things” from Gold Dust.

You can view videos of both segments on Dzień Dobry TVN’s website.

    Warsaw: Past The Apple Orchard

    Saturday, October 13, 2012 | 20:39 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight was the penultimate concert in the Gold Dust Orchestral Tour, at Warsaw’s Sala Kongresowa. Unlike the other dates on the tour, this one was not with the Metropole Orkest; rather, Tori performed with the Polish Radio Orchestra. The concert followed the same script as the others though with one solo song, “Merman,” during the first half of the show and an intermission.

The full setlist, thanks to the tweeterific efforts of @baziau and @movemeantTO, is up in the Tour section. If you were there and would like to share your thoughts on the performance, we’d love to hear from you — just use the comment form and we’ll get them posted as quickly as can be. Hopefully, some video and photographs will surface as well.

The Independent Profile (October 13, 2012)

    Saturday, October 13, 2012 | 17:00 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

I am very good at dreaming your life for you. If you’re on the fence about a move – and I don’t mean real estate, I mean for emotional reasons – I can give you a neutral assessment.

The Independent profiled Tori in its October 13th edition. In this, for lack of a better term, “list interview,” which also includes a new photograph, she tackles burning questions like what she would change about herself, what she’s good at, what she’s bad at and drops the no-doubt contentious opinion that her Choirgirl Hotel tour attire was a grave mistake. Needless to say, we strongly disagree.

The Rage Monthly Interview (October 12, 2012)

    Saturday, October 13, 2012 | 16:46 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

When my older brother Michael would come home, who was ten years older than I was, he would bring in records of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s — the stuff that needed to be out of the house before my father got home, because that was devil music! So he would play them and tell me, “learn this and disguise it so that he doesn’t know. So I guess in a way, I have always been doing variations on a theme, to disguise the “devil music” from my father!

Joel Martens interviewed Tori for Rage Monthly. Their discussion, which appears in the October issue of this Southern California LGBT publication, ranged from Gold Dust to church music to the religiosity of America to song-writing.

Thanks to @Lizz0r for the link!
