    ECHO Klassik Redux

    Monday, October 22, 2012 | 03:35 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

As many will recall, Tori was awarded and presented an ECHO Klassik award at a ceremony in Berlin last weekend. They had previously posted a short clip of Tori being interviewed by ECHO Klassik’s Axel Brüggemann on the red carpet before the ceremony but have since added a second clip, taken backstage after Tori had received her award, where they discuss the differences between classical and pop music with respect to risk and finding beauty in vulnerability, pain and torture in music. Ja, we like torture too…

Back in August, we reported that DJ and remixer Peter Rauhofer had announced he was remixing the Gold dust version of “Flavor.”

Since then, he’s indicated that Tori likes the three remixes he’s made of the song and that he’ll be premiering it, along with several other new remixes, during the Work! Freakshow Halloween party he’ll be deejaying at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City.

If you’re not in and around NYC or the club scene is not your thing, the remix should be available in the coming weeks.

Listen To Tori On Minimax Tonight

    Sunday, October 21, 2012 | 20:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Last weekend, Polskie Radio Trojka’s Piotr Kaczkowski interviewed Tori before her concert in Warsaw with the Polish Radio Orchestra. The first part of that interview will be aired during his program Minimax on PR3 at 10:00 PM CEST tonight — that’s about 40 minutes from when this is being posted; 4PM Eastern, 1PM Pacific for those in North America.

You can listen online using their radio player.

Update: The second half of this interview should be aired next week.

    BBC-o-rama!

    Saturday, October 20, 2012 | 00:53 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Word is that Tori made an appearance on BBC Two television’s The Review Show this evening, reportedly playing “Girl Disappearing” at the end of this weekly arts & entertainment program. She’s not in the program description so perhaps was a late addition to this evening’s episode. Video of the episode should be available to those in the UK on BBC iPlayer soon and the program will be rebroadcast on BBC HD at 12:30 AM BST Sunday morning (late Saturday night) for those who receive that channel.

Update: She was indeed on and, even though she’s not in the program description, you’ll find her in the credits at the bottom of the page for this episode. The show is on iPlayer now, but only available to those in the UK.

While looking around the BBC website for information about The Review Show, we discovered that Tori will be Robert Elms’ guest on BBC London on tomorrow morning, Saturday, October 20th. The two-hour program starts at 10:00 AM BST and it’s not clear when Tori will be on. Listen live at 94.9 FM, DAB radio or online. The program will be available for a week after it airs on BBC iPlayer in case you miss it.

Update: Tori was on during the second hour of the program, starting at the 1 hour 10 minute mark. She and Robert chat about Gold Dust and the Metropole Orkest and touch on the workshop for The Light Princess that went down this week.

Finally, we’re still waiting to see when Tori’ll be on Jools Holland’s Radio 2 show. As Jools tweeted, it was recorded during the week before the orchestral tour started so it’s just a matter of time until it is aired, one hopes…

The Record Interview (October 17, 2012)

    Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | 23:06 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Before her October 5th performance at (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City, which was webcast by NPR Music, Tori was interviewed by music journalist and Piece by Piece collaborator Ann Powers.

Their conversation was posted on The Record, NPR Music’s music news blog, earlier today and it is definitely worth the read!

Additionally, the introduction reveals that audio of the interview will be combined with selections from the webcast to create a radio special that will be broadcast later this year — yet more goodies to keep one’s earballs open for!

Catch Tori On SiriusXM's Linked Music This Weekend

    Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | 22:30 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

About a week ago, as revealed by a crop of photographs that popped up on Getty Images, Tori swung by the SiriusXM studios in New York City so antennae were tuned to an upcoming appearance on one of the SiriusXM stations at some point in the near future.

Earlier this week, a press release from SiriusXM shed some light on things but it seemed a little unlikely that custom mixes of scary sound effects by celebrity guests including Tori on their Halloween-themed “Scream Radio” channel would be the extent of what would come out of that visit.

And sure enough, it turns out that Tori will be Peter Cummings’ guest on this coming weekend’s edition of Linked Music, as announced on the program’s website and blog. Linked music is a weekly program that “explores the interplay of classical, jazz, rock and electronic music” on SiriusXM Pops, so it seems like a natural fit in light of her recent releases.

The program premieres at 9:00 AM EST on Saturday morning, with repeats on Sunday at 8:00 PM and Monday at 11:00 PM.

Thanks to @neongardenia for letting us know about this!

AfterElton.com Gives Tori The Rainbow Nod

    Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | 03:04 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

Tori is the latest addition to AfterElton.com’s Gay Icon Nominee series, a relatively new feature of the site where they propose less known celebrities and pop culture figures to join the ranks of gay icons such as Madonna and Betty Davis.

Louis Virtel’s column, posted today, outlines five good reasons why Tori qualifies, ranging from her gay-friendly stance in the context of how she is raising her daughter to her Madonna covers.

Can’t say that we disagree with any of them though we know there are more…and pretty much think Tori already is a gay icon.
