New York Times Interview (December 4, 2012)

    Sunday, December 09, 2012 | 17:45 UTC | Posted by woj |

The energy has to be put into making the work vital, and not settling for something that is just good, because there’s no room, don’t you see? When you’re in your 20s, there’s maybe a little room for you to not be at the top of your artistic game, if you look good on a magazine cover. When you’re not on the cover of the magazines anymore, then you realize that the work has to be great.

Joan Anderman interviewed Tori for the New York Times and the resulting article was posted earlier this week in Booming, The Times’ baby boomer-focused TimesTopic section. The interview is a reflective one, dealing creativity, parenting and ageing — mirroring nicely Anderman’s blog, Middle Mojo, which deals with much of the same topics. Hopefully, the full interview will show up there eventually…

    Flavor Remix EP Released Today

    Tuesday, December 04, 2012 | 12:00 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

News of Peter Rauhofer’s “Flavor” remixes has been reported previously but, as ToriAmos.com has announced, an EP containing those remixes is released today digitally at Amazon.com and iTunes. Looks like a worldwide release too as the EP has been listed in nearly all the national Amazon and iTunes stores we’ve checked so far.

Unfortunately, the preview of the three remixes Peter Rauhofer had posted on Soundcloud a few weeks ago is no longer available, but the Radio Edit of the Club Mix was premiered by Perez Hilton…but you can listen to it here too:

Tickets are on sale now via the festival’s website.

    Tonight Show Appearance This Week?

    Tuesday, November 13, 2012 | 11:50 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Update: Looks like this is a false alarm as The Tonight Show website has now listed The Mowgli’s as the musical guest for the 16th and TVGuide.com has revised their listing as well. Our apologies for any heart palpitations…

The MTV Buzzworthy Blog reports that Tori will be a guest on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Friday, November 16th.

Curiously, The Tonight Show’s website does not have any guests listed for the 16th yet and Sue Trowbridge’s venerable Late Night TV Page indicates that the guests on the 16th are Chris Matthews and the Mowgli’s, as does Yahoo! TV. However, TVGuide.com says Tori will be performing.

Given the mixed messages, we will try to get confirmation as soon as possible.

    A Date With Tori Amos

    Friday, October 26, 2012 | 06:03 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Journalist and TV personality Torgen Schneider interviewed Tori and has posted video of their conversation on YouTube as a two-part “Date With Tori Amos.” The first part is a discussion about Gold Dust while the second is a rather interesting and wide-ranging Q&A session.

    Reuters Interview (October 25, 2012)

    Friday, October 26, 2012 | 05:29 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

I was really motivated by women. I was motivated by secrets they keep, the stories that they hold close to their heart and possibly hide behind their eyes. And also, after they might tell me their story, they might talk to me about their emotional process. And it is humbling, intriguing, it opens my perception in ways that I never imagined it would over the last so many years.

Reuters’ Christine Kearney talked to Tori about Gold Dust, recording and performing with the Metropole Orkest, revisiting her older songs and being and staying creative.

The article includes a new photograph taken by Lucas Jackson during a photoshoot earlier in October. A little searching turned up four other photos from the shoot on Yahoo!‘s image search that we’ve stashed after the jump.

    C à Vous Appearance

    Friday, October 26, 2012 | 05:21 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Promoting the release of Gold Dust in France, Tori was the musical guest on the France5 television program C à vous on Wednesday, October 24th, during which she performed “Crucify.”

If you are in France, you can watch the performance on france5.fr — the segment with Tori starts around the 7:30 mark. If you are not in France, it’s YouTube to the rescue!

Many thanks to Marie at toriamos.fr and WAGA for letting us know about this! Marie also had the great fortune to be able to meet Tori before the C à vous taping. You can read about her experience on her website, where she also reports that there will be an article in the coming issue of the French Rolling Stone as well as interviews in L’Express and Pure People.

Same Same Interview (October 24, 2012)

    Friday, October 26, 2012 | 03:52 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

I think these sorts of people should have to attend a meeting with survivors. Not where they can talk, they’re not allowed to talk, they need to listen and be forced to listen. They need to do this every single day for a year. That’s what they need in order to not be ignorant.

Heidi Maier interviewed Tori for Australia’s Same Same website. Their conversation centered primarily on Gold Dust, touching on its nature as a career retrospective, its conception in the one-off 2010 performance with the Metropole Orkest, and the process of recording and playing with an orchestra but also covers political and social ground, with Tori addressing both her staunch support for LGBT rights staunch opposition to Republican positions on women’s reproductive rights and her thoughts on fear in politics.

Many thanks to Dale and char for linking us to this powerful interview.

Coraline Turns Ten; Tash Helps Neil Celebrate

    Friday, October 26, 2012 | 03:25 UTC | Posted by woj | Them

Neil Gaiman, who should need no introduction to fans of Tori Amos and readers of this site, is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his book Coraline by getting together with some of his friends and reading it to you.

Naturally, Neil himself kicks it off with the first chapter and fellow author Lemony Snicket handles the second but of particular interest to Toriphiles is the reader of the third chapter — none other than Natashya Hawley, Tori’s daughter.

They’re through the seventh chapter now and have six more to go — naturally, Coraline has thirteen chapters. And while most may be inclined to think having a spooky story read to you makes a great nightcap to end a day, I have to say it’s been quite nice listening to a chapter each morning to start mine. Either way though, most enjoyable!

Thanks to Ryan and Richard for letting us know!

    Bild Interview (October 23, 2012)

    Friday, October 26, 2012 | 03:03 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Music saved my life, healed me. When one creates something, a wound can become something new and magical.

The German magazine Bild interviwed Tori and posted the article on Tuesday. The article is more a profile than interview but includes some good quotes as well as this nice photograph of Tori with the article’s author, Björn Wolfram, as the first image in a little photo gallery that includes some shots from the Berlin concert of the Gold Dust tour.

Naturally, the article is in German but we’ve included a rough translation (thank you Google) after the jump that we’ll try to smooth out as time allows.

Thanks to Dieter for the link!
