    Panning For Gold Dust

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:49 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles,Releases

NME’s Lucy Jones chats with Tori about Gold Dust and a host of other topics but, perhaps most interestingly, offers up a full stream of the album. It’s for those in the UK only but we’re sure an album stream will be made available to other regions before too long…

Update: Gold Dust is now streaming via Paste magazine. Wheeee!

Update: Earlier this afternoon, the streaming widget on Paste’s site started having problems. Fortunately, the widget we snagged earlier today and embedded below (the one on the right) still works.

Stream Today's Radcliffe And Maconie Interview

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:48 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Tori swung by the BBC 6 Music studios to chat with Mark “Macbeth” Radcliffe and Stuart “MacDuff” Maconie on their fine radio program today. There was no live performance but they did play “Flavor” from the album and talked with her for about a half-hour. You can check out the interview for the next week on iPlayer at the link above. A clip from the interview should be available long-term as well, though it’s not there yet.

Huffington Post Interview (September 24, 2012)

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:48 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

How in the world am I going to sound like a fairy on crack when I’m in my late 40’s if I smoke? No! My daughter is into blues and she asked me, “Why didn’t you ever sing blues?” And I said, “Fairy on crack can’t sing blues!” But it’s just how my voice sounds!

Noah Michelson continues his winning streak in the interview contest, producing yet another epic article. This time for the Huffington Post, he draws out a wealth of responses to questions both typical and atypical hitting on topics such as Tori’s thoughts on several songs on Gold Dust, her muses, being visited by the spirits of artists past, Little Earthquakes, Y Kant Tori Read, and drugs. A most refreshing romp that is definitely worth a close read.

    The NME 66 Second Interview

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:48 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

NME gives Tori the lighting round treatment in their 66 Second Interview. Questions both sublime and ridiculous leads to entertainment most entertaining!

P.S. One suspects this is not what she meant by making sandwiches

The Arts Desk Interview (September 24, 2012)

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:48 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

The thing is, [the songs] take on an aura of their own as other people’s stories become a part of their history. They’ve been traveling around the world for a while now, and other people have had experiences with them that are all a part of who the song has become – her lineage. So when I play them they are transforming all the time, because of the stories people tell me about their relationship with the songs.

Lis Ferla interviewed Tori for The Arts Desk and their conversation ranged from the beginnings and production of Gold Dust to touring with the Metropole Orkest to the lives that Tori’s songs develop on their own out in the world.

Of particular interest to fans in the United States, Tori responded to a question about touring in the US saying, “In the States, we’ll be doing something with a smaller section at a few choice events.” Notice the plural! Events! Given that, we’re hopeful that there will be more performances in the US in addition to the Infinity Hall Live taping announced yesterday.

Stream BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:48 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

If you missed Tori’s apeparance on Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4 yesterday, you can stream it through next Monday on BBC’s iPlayer. The portion of the show with Tori, which features a conversation with host Jane Garvey and a performance of “Cloud On My Tongue,” starts around the 22 minute mark in the program.

They’ve also added a clip of the interview where Tori addresses her relationship with her mother. Since they kindly offer embed codes, we suspect that this clip will be available online well after the whole program no longer is.

El Pais Interview (September 23, 2012)

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

We live in a world of hyperactive people who have forgotten to live with romance, who cannot go a minute without sending a message. To me, a nice time with a man should last 72 minutes of a CD and not a length of a single song . And no, I do not mean just sex, which of course should also take the measure of an entire disk, but 72 minutes of attention, without touching the phone, drinking a good wine.

During the afternoon before last weekend’s conversation with Jon Pareles for the Times Talk Madrid series, Tori spoke with Elsa Fernández-Santos for the Spanish newspapare El Pais. The resulting article was posted on the web the same day. Within the context of looking back over her career, she mused on the subjects of books, albums and attention spans.

After the cut, we’ve got both the original Spanish and a quick-and-dirty translation to English. It’s not perfect but it gets the gist.

    Relevant.de Interview (September 21, 2012)

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

[I worked with The Metropole] because they were the ones who invited me. It is not always the case that the most famous man gets the woman. It is the man who thinks to ask them.

In an interview for Austrian website Relevant, Tori answers questions about Gold Dust, working with the Metropole Orkest, The Light Princess and, for the first time that we can recall, Transmission Galactic, the record label that she’s founded.

Jump the cut for the original German and Google-translated English of the interview.

    Gold Dust Newsbits

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:47 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

The Gold Dust promotional choo-choo train is chugging its way throughout Europe and, as a result, a couple short news pieces have cropped up.

Austria’s ORF2’s news program Zeit Im Bild aired a short clip (warning: the video autoplays) with Tori in Vienna while Spain’s EFE interviewed Tori while she was in Madrid for the Times Talk.

    Attitude's Got Tori

    Wednesday, September 26, 2012 | 05:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

The September issue of Attitude features British Olympians, sex and, cos why not, an interview with Tori. The interview is not online, alas, but we hear its a good one. You can pick up a copy of the magazine at your local British newsstand or snag a copy of the digital edition for your most favored digital device. Hopefully the interview will eventually find its way into their online archives as well…
