Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
For this record, these “song-girls” have passports, they’ve been around the world. I’ve met a lot of people, who in turn told me their stories about my music, so each song has endless Polaroids attached to it. It’s been building over the years.
Rolling Stone kicked off the promotion for Gold Dust in earnest with a lengthy interview which addresses key points about the record from building context for the collection to song selections. Perhaps of greater interest though is that two full songs from the album, “Silent All These Years” and “Gold Dust,” are included with the interview for everyone’s listening pleasure! So while reading the interview, check out the songs on Rolling Stone’s Hear It Now player.

Don’t think I’m not singing along when Natashya has “Call Me Maybe” on the radio. But we sing “Kill Me Maybe.”
The Sexy Beast, the Entertainment and Fashion wing of The Daily Beast, posted this interview with Tori on their site today. While the the first part of the article, dealing with the perils of pop/classical crossovers, echoes many of the statements Tori made about Night of Hunters, the rest of the piece, addressing the current state of pop music as well as future plans — The Light Princess in 2013 and, “if the muses comes,” a record of new pop-rock material to follow. Call us maybe indeed!
BBC Entertainment & News posted a video clip of Tori discussing her thoughts on the recent publication of topless photographs of Kate Middleton as well as her cautious nature with respect to being a public figure. Unfortunately, the BBC does not provide easy embedding but, of course, it’s already on YouTube:
There is a short bit of text attached to the clip which is reproduced here for posterity:
Tori Amos ‘very cautious’ of paparazzi
17 September 2012 Last updated at 10:10 ET
Tori Amos says she “never” wears a bikini – even in her own garden – because of the threat of paparazzi.
The singer told the BBC’s Tim Masters that she felt “awful” for the Duchess of Cambridge after pictures were published of her sunbathing while on a private holiday in France.
“It’s unfortunate that these are the times we’re in. I think it is awful what’s happened to her – she didn’t ask for that,” she said.
Clearly this is part of a longer interview so hopefully more of it will emerge as we get closer to the release of Gold Dust.
Thanks to tim and Irena for the pointer!
This past Saturday was designer Bernard Chandran’s catwalk show for London Fashion Week and, having recently worn fashions designed by him in the video for “Flavor,” Tori was in attendance. Sitting right in the front row with daughter Natashya, she was hard to miss and it wasn’t long before several photos of them watching the show were making the rounds on the Internet.
Many thanks to @OggyYardanov, Nora Nona, and Paula Harrowing for sharing these shots!
Additionally, 55Factory chatted with Bernard Chandran, Lyne Renee and Tori following the show and threw the clips up on YouTube. “Tory” is the first person in the interview.
After attending Bernard Chandran’s fashion show on Saturday, Tori joined comic Bridget Christie and journalist Miriam Gross to review the Sunday papers with Paddy O’Connell on BBC Radio 4’s Broadcasting House this morning. Stories they discussed ranged from Kate Middleton topless to elephants to pornography — lively discussion for a Sunday morning indeed!
The episode is on BBC iPlayer for the next seven days with the segment beginning around the 44 minute mark. It is also included in the Broadcasting House podcast for today (direct download link) where you can snag it for the next month.
Thanks to @FritchleyPaul for letting us know about this!
Earlier we surmised that bonus tracks might vary from country to country. Well, it now appears they may vary from retailer to retailer as the digital deluxe edition of Gold Dust has been added to Amazon.co.uk and it includes “Snow Angel” but not “Maybe California,” the extra track listed in the digital deluxe edition at the UK iTunes store.
There is, of course, a fairly common practice in the music industry these days and there is precedent for it in Tori’s back catalog as well — remember “Miracle,” “Drive All Night,” and “Good King Wenceslas?” Still, it is a rather irritating practice for not just the completists but consumers in general and we hope that it turns out not to be the case.
Thanks to @ToriAmosjp for the tip!
La Première is running a contest to win a pair of tickets to Tori’s October 2nd concert at Bozar in Brussels. To enter, fill out the form at that link.
Please note: the drawing is open only to Belgians.
While chatting with OK! Magazine (warning: there is an auto-playing video at that page), Rosalie Craig, one of the leads in the stage production of Finding Neverland, dropped a rather juicy tidbit about the long-delayed production of The Light Princess that Tori has written the music for:
What are you up to after Finding Neverland?
Rosalie: Next year I’ll be starring in a huge musical at the National Theatre, co-written by Tori Amos and based on an 18th-century fairy tale called The Light Princess.
That’s my character, and she doesn’t have any gravity!
They’ve been developing it for years.
Last we heard, the production of The Light Princess, though delayed, was still on. Given this news, it now seems that the project will come to fruition in 2013…and it’s nice to know at least a lead actor has been selected. Definitely something to look forward to next year!
Thanks to mkgtweety for the link.
While there are still a few tickets available for the London stop on the Gold Dust Orchestral Tour at Royal Albert Hall, the venue is giving away a pair of stalls tickets to the show.
To enter the drawing for the tickets, e-mail competition@royalalberthall.com your name, contact number and the answer to this hopefully simple question: “What is the name of the new Tori Amos album, due for release on 1 October 2012?”
Entries must be received by 12 Noon British time on Friday, September 21st. The winner will be picked at random from all entries and tickets will be held for them at the box office to be picked up on the day of the show.
Good luck!
Earlier this week, the Spanish newspaper El Confidencial reported, citing Universal Music as their source, that the digital edition of Gold Dust would contain two bonus tracks: “Maybe California” and “Snow Angel.” Taking a quick look around the Spanish Universal Music website turns up a news item stating exactly that — along with announcing that Gold Dust would be released on October 2nd in Spain.
However, there was no indication of any bonus tracks being included in digital editions of the record until the past day or so when the deluxe edition of the album was listed on the UK iTunes store. Curiously though, there is only one additional track included: “Maybe California.”
So, at this point, it’s not clear what is going on with bonus tracks but it does look possible that it may vary from country to country. Given that Universal Music Spain made no mention of a deluxe edition, it seems also possible that the editions of the album may vary from country to country as well.
Time will tell…
