Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages since we often post quickie updates there when we're on-the-go.
During tours, we do our best to cover setlists in real-time on Twitter. If you want to tweet a show in, just DM or @ us on the day and tell us to watch your stream that night.
Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
If you’re in or around Chicago, may we suggest that you head on down to Mary’s Attic on Thursday, September 15th for a Tori Amos Tribute Night?
Organized by several of Chicago’s best queer and queer-friendly singer/songwriters, the show features performances by Manny Capozzi, Stephen Leonard, Diva Kai, Jeff Brown, Jen Saint Stjärna, Kyle Greer, Vallery Dolls, Ian Wilson and Meredith Barry and will celebrate Tori’s music as well as the pending release of Night of Hunters. It kicks off at 9pm and there’s a $5 cover.
For more information and to RSVP, hit up their Facebook event page. Hope some of you can make it!
Last Thursday, September 1st, Tori made an appearance at Berlin’s Admiral Palace for Universal Music GSA’s annual meeting, posing for press and playing live for attendees. Details about her involvement in the event are few but reports from Musik.Woche and Fezz.tv mention her participation and include a couple of photos reproduced below.
Note: the two gentleman in the first photograph are Christian Kellermann, Managing Director of Universal Music Classics & Jazz, and Frank Briegmann, President of Universal Music GSA and Deutsche Grammaphon.
Thanks to Deborah77 for the tip!
Ticket vendor Computicket is listing several Tori Amos concerts in South Africa in November!
There are three shows listed: Saturday November 12th and Sunday November 13th at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg and Thursday, November 17th at the Grand Arena in Cape Town. All three are currently listed with a status of “Hold” so the shows are NOT confirmed and tickets are not on sale. Neither of the venue’s websites list these shows either.
Should these concerts come to pass, this would mark the first time that Tori performs in South Africa. Hopefully, this turns out to be the case!
Thanks to Nicotine Love for the tip on the Tweeter!
Well, the “special guest” appearance on Midwest Radio’s Totally 90s turned out to be rather disappointing — though we suppose we should have expected nothing less given the nature of the program. The spot consisted of old snippets of Tori talking about her rebellious youth and Roberta Flack before the predictable airing of “Cornflake Girl.” No new information about Night of Hunters or anything else was shared. If you want to give it a listen, check it out below…
Update: Midwest Radio and This Is Totally 90s have offered explanations for the brevity of this “special guest” appearance.
Seattle radio station The Mountain has posted two complete songs from Night of Hunters — “Nautical Twilight” and “Edge of the Moon” — on their Mountain Music Discovery blog. Head on over and give ‘em a listen!
Thanks to The Mountain’s Music Director Shawn Stewart for letting us know and sharing the the tunes!
According to their status updates on Twitter and Facebook, Tori will be appearing on Midwest Radio’s Totally 90s on Sunday at 7 PM BST (click for local time elsewhere in the world).
Listen online or, if you’re in Somerset or Dorset, tune them in on FM — the frequencies are on their website. (Yeah, we know, we know, how old-fashioned!)
One hopes this will be the start of a number of radio appearances supporting Night of Hunters so we’ll be keeping our eyes out for more to show up as well.
Thanks to AngieZ, Mark-Alexis and Stoff for the heads-up!
Among all the hubbub this week, we learned that Tori will serve as one of the judges for this year’s International Songwriting Competition. She’s in good company; the other judges include Tom Waits, Black Francis, Robert Smith, Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, McCoy Tyner, Kelly Clarkson, and folks from My Morning Jacket, Duran Duran and more. Thanks to Solja for the news!
Over at Pop Matters, writer Enio Chiola (who sounds like a frustrated Toriphile if there ever was one) revisits Tori’s catalog and offers what he calls Tori’s 10 best songs of all time. You might agree or disagree with his roundup, but he offers pretty solid arguments for why these tracks are his picks.
Je Ne Sais Pop offers a brief review of Night of Hunters for Spanish-language readers. Thanks to Cristina for the tip!
Hailed as the world’s most original woman singer/songwriter in pop, Tori and her sound engineer husband Mark Hawley have lived in remote north Cornwall since 1998. Now their daughter Natashya goes to the local school. “I take her and pick her up like any other mum,” Tori says. “No one thinks it’s any big deal.”
The Times of Oman ran an article this week on Tori, her family life, and her work. Much of it is pretty remedial for those of us familiar with her story, but folks in Oman might be reading about her for the first time. Thanks to Stoff for pointing us to it!
