Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages since we often post quickie updates there when we're on-the-go.
During tours, we do our best to cover setlists in real-time on Twitter. If you want to tweet a show in, just DM or @ us on the day and tell us to watch your stream that night.
Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
Happy Sunday! Amazon.com has posted 30-second clips of all the tracks on Night of Hunters. Cheers to Mario and Peter for the news.
English musician Mark Hole, a former self-described “hyperactive and erratic boy” who grew up to become a guy who “just wants to play the piano and sing,” will apparently be opening the European leg of Tori’s Night of Hunters tour. His music is fun, dramatic, whimsical, and, yes, piano-based. Swing on over to his site to dig a few sample tracks from his debut album, F-Sharp. Thanks to Maciej for sending us Mark’s tweet.
Decca Records has posted the electronic press kit for Night of Hunters in the Media area of their website’s Tori Amos section. In the EPK, which we assume is a stripped-down version of the documentary on the DVD of the album’s deluxe edition, Tori describes and explains the background for the record, as well as touching on some of the inspiration for and production of the record.
Be warned! The clip features snippets of many songs so if you’re holding out for the release before listening to any of the record, you might want to hold off on viewing this!
Thanks to mario for the tip!
As hoped, Alex Ramon’s review of Night of Hunters for Wears The Trousers has materialized. It’s yet another encouraging take on the record that the rest of us still have a few more weeks wait for…so let’s hope that time passes quickly!
Update: Alex has posted the “director’s cut” of this review on hig blog, Boycotting Trends.
Sending out our best wishes to Tori on the 48th anniversary of her original release.
We hope she does something relaxing!
Alex Ramon, current writer for Wears the Trousers and Pop Matters and erstwhile writer for the fanzine Little Blue World, has posted an epic overview of Tori’s career and oeuvre on his blog, Boycotting Trends. As he says in the introduction to the piece, “with the release of her eagerly anticipated new album, Night of Hunters, imminent, now seems an apt moment to take a wander through Amos’s voluminous catalogue, to (re)assess what’s worked and what hasn’t, and to celebrate some of her achievements, which, frankly, could use a little celebrating these days.” Excellent reading for a Sunday afternoon (with apologies to those on the other side of the International Dateline).
Also, keep an eye on Wears the Trousers as Alex’s review of Night of Hunters should be popping up there sooner or later…
Shiny and New, a UK-based music blog that focuses on the fairer sex’s contributions to the world of music, has reviewed Night of Hunters at length and with playful thought — or is that thoughtful play? Either way, it’s an interesting and encouraging take on the record that whets the appetite for one month from now!
Thanks to Adam and michaelgraye for bringing this to our attention!
Head over to Tori’s Facebook page to watch the video for “Carry” from Night of Hunters and click to share the video to unlock a second exclusive track, “Shattering Sea.”
P.S. We assume this is one of the two “music clips” that will be on the DVD of the deluxe edition of Night of Hunters.
EarWithFeet tumbles a tidbit of news about the deluxe edition of Night of Hunters. According to the Norwegian retailer Platekompaniet, the DVD disc of the deluxe edition will include a documentary and “2 music clips.”
One presumes that the documentary is about the making of the album but we are extremely curious about the extra clips. Bonus tracks? Live performances? Studio out-takes? Time will tell!
Update: Universal Music Norway has posted some additional information that states, “The deluxe edition will have a bonus DVD and it will contain a 16 minute documentary, plus 2 music clips (Carry + Nautical Twilight).” Whether those are music videos for those two songs, in-studio performances or something else about them remains to be seen…but at least it’s something! Thanks again to EarWithFeet!
Update: Amazon.co.uk has updated their listing for the delue edition, adding this track listing for the DVD:
“Nautical Twilight” and “Carry” are now available for streaming on Soundcloud. Beautiful.
Thanks to Maciej for sending this in.
Update: Yep, the tracks have been removed. Seems they weren’t supposed to be there — or, at least, weren’t supposed to be public.
