New NOH Details, Photos, Title Track Radio Debut

    Wednesday, August 03, 2011 | 06:37 UTC | Posted by Beth | Releases,TV/Radio/Web

Today dawned with a new press release, issued in the UK. It confirms a number of details about Night of Hunters, including the tracklist and guest musician info we recently shared. It also includes some new information, such as:

    • Tash will portray a character named “Annabelle”
    • Tori’s niece, Kelsey Dobyns, portrays “The Fire Muse”
    • John Phillip Shenale is back, and arranged all the strings/woodwinds

In addition, Amazon.com unveiled a few new photos from the album shoot. Check out the thumbnails below, or click on them to see them larger:

Lastly, radio station WXRT in Chicago announced that it will play the title track from Night of Hunters Thursday (August 4) as part of New Music Thursday. That feature happens throughout the day, starting at 6:00 AM Central. WXRT streams live, so keep an ear to the tuner for a chance to hear new Tori! Turns out that WXRT did NOT play anything from the new record today. Sorry for the false alarm!

Thanks to all today’s newsgatherers, including Mark, Mario, Sean Paul, Julia, Diana, and Kory! And to Jamie and Mike for the WXRT stream link.

New Night of Hunters Promo Photo

    Tuesday, August 02, 2011 | 02:41 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

While new information about Night of Hunters continues to prove elusive, the website Klassik Akzente, a German website that focuses on classical music and releases, dropped a new promotional picture on their Tori Amos page:

Unfortunately, the album cover in the image on Klassik Akzente links to details about a new release of Kissine and Tchaikovsky Piano Trios rather than Night of Hunters — but one expects that to change before too long…

Thanks to Mario for finding this and passing along the tip!

Tori Ticket Terror - July 30th

    Saturday, July 30, 2011 | 15:56 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

This week’s ticket sales round out today with four general sales, in order of when they start:

    Good luck to all!

This leaves the show at Austin’s Bass Concert Hall as the sole show on the North American tour that has not gone on sale yet. Several people have said that they saw it listed on Ticketmaster but that it has been since removed. While we didn’t actually see that listing, tickets to all shows at the University of Texas Performing Arts Center venues are sold through their own box office, with online sales being handled by evenue.net. So, while the show has not yet been added to their calendar yet, we do expect it to appear there before the August 5th sale date advertised by ToriAmos.com, with a purchase link added once tickets are on sale.

We’ll keep an eye on that — and also Ticketmaster just in case — and let everyone know when the listing is added.

Last night’s episode of the reality television program “So You Think You Can Dance” featured a piece set to Tori’s song “Precious Things.” Performed by dancers Allison Holker and Ricky Jaime, the piece was choreographed by Tyce Diorio.

    The Modular Project

    Friday, July 22, 2011 | 02:40 UTC | Posted by woj | Them

Wondering what Dan Phelps, some-time American Doll Posse tour guitarist, and Matt Chamberlain, Tori’s long-time drummer for both touring and recording, have been up to lately?

As it turns out, they, along with bassist Viktor Krauss, have a new release out as The Modular Project. This dreamy and organic instrumental collaboration is, to my ears anyway, quite tasty. If that sounds intriguing, give it a spin at Bandcamp and consider picking up either a digital copy or, for the fellow object fetishists out there, the double LP!

Tori Ticket Terror - North America Week 1

The first round of North American Night of Hunters tour dates go on sale this week. As there are only four shows in this batch — Washington, Chicago, Vancouver and Seattle — the ticket terror will hopefully not be too stressful…but if not, the next two weeks should take care of that!

Here’s how this week’s presales and general sales play out. As we get new details in, we’ll update this article, show listings in Tour and update the information on Twitter.

North American Venues and Sale Dates

    Friday, July 15, 2011 | 18:54 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

ToriAmos.com has added venues and on-sale dates for the North American stops on the Night of Hunters tour to their tour list and we’ve added them to ours as well. Most shows go on-sale during the last two weeks of July, though Austin doesn’t go up until early August. Currently, other sale infomation such as links, prices, etc. are not available but we expect them to start popping up on the usual ticket vendor sites and venue websites soon. As that information becomes available, we’ll update it on the individual pages of the tour section.

Update (2011-07-18 6:00 PM ET): Chicago, Washington and Vancouver become the first shows of the North American leg to be listed on Ticketmaster and/or Live Nation. Seattle is also mentioned on Tickets.com though there are no details as of yet, though there are some at Seattle Theatre Group.

We’ll keep adding details to the concert pages in the Tour section as they come in. Keep an eye on Ticketmaster, Live Nation and Tickets.com as we’d expect tickets to most of the shows to be sold through those vendors.
