Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages since we often post quickie updates there when we're on-the-go.
During tours, we do our best to cover setlists in real-time on Twitter. If you want to tweet a show in, just DM or @ us on the day and tell us to watch your stream that night.
Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and to Tori’s pop, Dr. Edison Amos, who rounds out Liz Brown’s LA Weekly blog post, Rad Dads: Five of the Best Fathers In Musical History:
What devout Christian minister would ban rock music at home but allow—nay, encourage—his daughter to play in lounges and bars so that she could build her reperetoire and learn to perform better? A really special kind, apparently, who immediately recognized the enormous talent in his daughter Tori.
As one of many Toriphiles who’ve seen him at Tori’s shows know, that’s not all he’s “radical” for! Check out the rest of the piece over at laweekly.com.
Thanks to Richard and Chris for the heads up!
Over the past couple weeks, there’s been a few changes to the online retailers’ advance listings for Night of Hunters.
Amazon.com still only shows a single-disc deluxe edition of the album for domestic releases in the United States, though now with a September 27th release date (a Tuesday, as is customary in the States). However, they have since added a deluxe CD/DVD import with a release date of October 4th, currently available for pre-order. Meanwhile, across the pond, Amazon.co.uk is only listing a single-disc edition with a Sepotember 26th release date that, interestingly (perhaps only to me), has the same ASIN as the import edition listed by Amazon.com. HMV and other UK online retailers continue to have a single-disc edition listed with a release date of September 26th.
What does this all mean? Hard to say at this point though it seems clear that, as has been the case with Tori’s last several records, there will be a deluxe edition of the album. One would expect there to be a deluxe edition in North America as well. Undoubtedly more details about various release configurations will be forthcoming soon…though it’s certainly fun to try and divine the tea leaves from the outside!
Thanks to Greg, Roma, Tony and Erinn for keeping an eye on all this!
Congratulations to Marianne Elliot for her Best Play Tony Award for co-directing War Horse! As many will recall, she is now directing The Light Princess and we certainly hope that she brings some of that award-winning magic to her current project…
Also of note, congratulations to the Handspring Puppet Company for their special Tony Award for their puppetry work in War Horse. While it’s not clear if they are directly involved in The Light Princess, Toby Olié, who did the puppet design and fabrication for The Light Princess workshop, was the Associate Puppetry Director for War Horse, so perhaps there is a link there as well.
Thanks to Richard Handal and Ben D’Amiral for the links!
The July 2011 issue of Playboy features an interview with Justin Timberlake where he drops a little love Tori’s way while gushing about Lady Gaga:
She’s a force. Beyond awesome. I mean, she’s legitimately talented. I’d love to see her come out with another record a couple of years from now that’s completely different, maybe something Tori Amos could do. If I were Lady Gaga, I’d do whatever I wanted, which it looks like she’s doing. She’s just plain old good.
Nice to see! Thanks AC and Shannon for the tip!
A second show in London has been added to the Night of Hunters European leg. It will take place on November 3rd at the Hammersmith Apollo. As with the other UK shows, there will be a slew of pre-sales (three!) starting on Wednesday, June 8th, followed by a general sale on Friday, June 10th.
There are two pre-sales on Wednesday, both starting at 9:00 AM BST: a fan pre-sale via Ticketmaster (follow the link from the tour dates on ToriAmos.com to access it; it should have the best seats) and an O2 pre-sale for registered O2 Priority members.
On Thursday, there will be a Live Nation pre-sale that will start at 9:00 AM BST on Thursday, June 9th and last until one hour before the general sale on Friday.
Finally, the general sale will take place at 9:00 AM BST on Friday.
Tickets are now on sale at Telecharge for Broadway Sings Tori: A Benefit for RAINN. Taking place at New World Stages’ Stage 2 in New York City on Monday, June 27th, the concert features Christine Andreas, Celina Carvajal, Ben Cameron, Steven Cutts, Colleen Harris, Natalie Joy Johnson, Brian Nash (who some may remember having performed Boys for Pele and From the Choirgirl Hotel), Molly Pope, Kate Shindle, Katie Thompson and more! All proceeds from the event will go directly to RAINN, to help support their mission of assisting surviviors of sexual violence.
Thanks to Alex for the link on this one!
With a trip to the Oscars and accolades and attention from celebrities and musicians alike, it has been a pretty good year for the PS22 Chorus so what better way to celebrate that with a lovely performance of Tori’s song of the same name!
Thanks to blindhope for the link!
Earlier this week, pro wrestler and RAINN advocate Mick Foley was featured on ABC World News Tonight. The piece mentions Tori as being his inspiration to start volunteering for RAINN but the meat of the feature is all about Mick, the work he is doing for RAINN and the smashing success of his #10forRAINN campaign which has raised over $120,000 for the non-profit!
Congratulations to Mick and RAINN and thanks to everyone who donated and supported them over the past two months!
A pre-sale for the September 28th Helsinki concert is underway via Elisa.fi. Tickets are being sold through Lippupalvelu but you have to follow the link from Elisa.fi to access it. Supposedly, this pre-sale started on Thursday and ends today but it’s still active as of now, after the time it was supposed to end, so it may have started late.
Thanks to ta_ru for the tip!
A few quick items on this Friday afternoon (at least here on the East Coast of North America…).
First, at long last, tickets for the St. Petersberg, Russia concert are finally on sale through muzbilet.ru. Please note however, that this ticket agency does not do online sales. Rather, you can reserve tickets online through their website and then pay for them through a bank transfer. Alternatively, tickets can also be purchased at outlets and stores throughout St. Petersberg and surrounding areas. For more information, see their sales page (English translation) and instructions (English translation) for purchasing tickets from outside that city.
This leaves the Helsinki, Finland show as the only one of the tour that has not yet gone on sale. Lest we forget, it is slated to do so on Wednesday, June 1st at 9:00 AM via Lippupalvelu (aka Ticketmaster). It is not listed there yet but the sale date and time is confirmed by Ticketti, where tickets will also be available for sale.
Finally, earlier this week, several folks noticed that Dutch ticket reseller Ticketplatform.com’s concert listings indicated Tori would be performing with The Metropole Orkest in Amsterdam, Luxemburg and Germany. As exciting as that may have been, The Metropole has posted a news item on their website stating that the Ticketplatform information is incorrect and that the Orkest will not be performing with Tori for any of those shows. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news….
