    Midwinter Graces Mop-up

    Sunday, November 29, 2009 | 21:56 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Since the release of Midwinter Graces, several reviews of Tori’s seasonal collection have been piling up but, for various boring reasons, we didn’t quite get around to posting them — until now! But rather than plaster the front page with a bunch of older reviews, they’ve been back-dated to their publish dates. If you’re inclined to read them, you can find them in under the Reviews news gategory or the Midwinter Graces catalog page’s News section.

Also, since we’re on the subject of the album, Rob F. points out the Midwinter Graces debuted at #66 on the Billboard 200 last week. Unfortunately, it’s dropped down to #179 for the second week of its availability in the United States. Billboard also maintains a Holiday Album chart where it’s currently at #40 after debuting at #9 last week.

    Sunday, November 29, 2009 | 21:40 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews

The Old Grey Lady’s 2009 Gift Guides are out and, as part of their guide about this year’s Holiday Music CDs, Midwinter Graces received a favorable, if short, review by Nate Chinen.

    Undercover Video Interview

    Sunday, November 29, 2009 | 19:39 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Not to be outdone by the other Australian music journalism sites, Undercover also chatted with Tori during her recent swing through the land down under. Their interview, posted in two parts, also covers a wide range of topics including the two albums released in 2009, performing live and the duet with David Byrne for Here Lies Love. Check it out on Undercover: Part 1 and Part 2.

    Faster Louder Video Interview

    Sunday, November 29, 2009 | 18:57 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Chantel Bann spoke to Tori for Australian music website Faster Louder during The Sinful Attraction Tour’s stop in Sydney and has posted a portion of the interview on YouTube. During their conversation, they touch on the Sydney Opera House, touring, the significance of the Lizard Lounge during the solo shows in Australia, Abnormally Attracted to Sin and Midwinter Graces.

Note: there are also reviews and photo galleries from most of the Australian shows on Faster Louder’s website which are worth checking out.

Same Same Interview - Part Uno

    Saturday, November 28, 2009 | 23:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Australia’s Same Same has posted the first part of their three-part video interview with Tori. Recorded in Sydney during the Sinful Attraction tour’s swing through that city earlier this month, Tori discusses Australia, touring and what inspires her.

Thanks to the Same Same folks for letting us know about this!

Sunday Night, It's Tori's Turn On The Sound

    Saturday, November 28, 2009 | 20:48 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Jessie reports that Los Angeles radio station 100.3 The Sound has been airing commercials indicating that Tori will be programming their airwaves during My Turn, a weekly program where musicians and celebrities pick and play the tunes for a hour on Sunday evenings. According to the spots — one of which I just heard while listening to the station — Tori will be hosting My Turn this coming Sunday, November 29th at 6:00 PM PST.

Tune The Sound in at 100.3 FM in the Los Angeles area or listen online.

Thanks Jessie for catching this and letting us know!

Janice Long Welcomes Tori To Radio 2 Next Week

    Saturday, November 28, 2009 | 20:00 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Tori will be Janice Long’s guest on her BBC Radio 2 programme at Midnight GMT on Thursday, December 3rd — that is, late Wednesday night, early Thursday morning, local time. Doesn’t look like she will be in sessions as, according to the description, Tori will be chatting about Midwinter Graces and picking some music for Janice to play.

Listen to Radio 2 on 88-91 FM or online. The programme will be archived for a week after it airs so you can catch the interview later if you miss it live.

Thanks to Andrew who caught this appearance listed in the Radio Times.

    Flavorwire Interview (November 25, 2009)

    Wednesday, November 25, 2009 | 21:25 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

I would say [Midwinter Graces is] spiritual [not religious], because religion is a word that you and I go back to that usually doesn’t include the masses, but excludes people. If you don’t agree with it, then it judges you.

Between legs of the Sinful Attraction tour, Tori spoke to Flavorwire’s Doug Levy about Midwinter Graces and the interview was posted on their website today. In addition to discussing the origins of the just-released seasonal album, their conversation also includes an update on The Light Princess project and a miniature portrait of holidays with the Amoses — hint: it’s not quite Rockwellian!

The Sinful Attraction Tour Comes to a Close in Brisbane

    Wednesday, November 25, 2009 | 13:51 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

As y’all probably noticed, the Brisbane setlist, thanks to David C., has been up in the Tour section since yesterday. The concert, the final show of the Sinful Attraction tour, took place on Tuesday at the QPAC Concert Hall.

The set included several emotionally-intense songs such as “Playboy Mommy,” “Gold Dust” and “Winter” but the mood was not all heavy as “Mary Jane” was inserted into the set right before the Lizard Lounge. Other songs of note played were “Ruby Through The Looking Glass,” “Upside Down” and “Rattlesnakes.” Despite being a final show, the encore was just one song: “Silent All These Years.”

Despite not getting the front page article about the show up until now, several folks have already posted reviews of the performance and we’d love to hear from more people who were there. If you’d like to voice your thoughts on the concert, please use the form at the bottom of the Brisbane concert page and we’ll get it posted as quickly as we can.

There are a few promotional performances left this year so we can’t close the book on the 2009 tour just yet, but just a note of heartfelt thanks to any and all who have helped cover the Sinful Attraction tour this year! It couldn’t have happened without your contributions: ticket links, tour dates, venue rumors, setlist updates, Youtube videos, photos, reviews, and most of all, your support! We appreciate it all!

We’ll be working on getting caught up with media additions to the tour pages over the long holiday weekend here in the States, so check back for new stuff as we get it posted.
