    Gimme Four

    Sunday, February 16, 2014 | 22:07 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

The third snippet of the new promotional photo/album cover has been posted. We like the hair. Still don’t know what to make of the hieroglyphs painted on the wall though…

Three days to go! Or maybe four…

    Gimme Six. Gimme Five.

    Sunday, February 16, 2014 | 01:54 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Friday afternoon, without any explanation, this image appeared on ToriAmos.com and all the social media avenues accompanied by the caption “6.”

Needless to say, a collective WTF?!? echoed forth from the keyboards of Tori Amos fans around the world. What this a countdown? Was “Slee” a fragment of the name of the sixth track on Unrepentant Geraldines? Was this the record’s cover artwork? A promotional photo? Is that a new wig? Water colors or oil paint? (Well, maybe not that last one.)

A little light was shed by Universal Music Classics on Facebook where they indicated that, “Piece by piece Tori Amos is revealing her album cover for her upcoming release Unrepentant Geraldines,” and recommending that folks keep an eye out over the weekend. While they were the only source saying anything about what these image fragments were, they might know a thing or two as they’re releasing the record, after all.

And sure enough, a second image, “5.,” appeared today. So it appears that the reveal is on, folks, and we hope there will be more information about the record — and the rest of the elusive tour dates hopefully — come the middle of next week.

In related news, Amazon.com has added a listing for and is taking pre-ordered for Unrepentant Geraldines with a release date of Tuesday, May 13th. They are taking pre-orders for a CD edition of the album but MusicTAP, which first mentioned the May 13th release date on Thursday, indicates that the album have three physical editions: compact disc, vinyl, and a deluxe CD/DVD combo. Perhaps by this time next week, we’ll know more about the contents of each…

Update: Amazon.com has added listings for the deluxe and vinyl editions of Unrepentant Geraldines but neither are available for pre-orders at this point.

Thanks Tanya for the tip to MusicTAP and to Mark as well!

    Signs And Portents

    Wednesday, February 12, 2014 | 00:20 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases,Touring

Like everyone else, we’re still waiting for more details about Unrepentant Geraldines and the remaining dates on the tour supporting the record but a couple tidbits of information surfaced today that may shed some light on the mystery that is Tori’s upcoming 2014 release.

First, a listing was added at ticketing vendor Tickets.com for a concert on July 17th at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington. The listing itself is neither active nor visible but it will come up in the site search for Tori Amos tickets there. While this date does not appear on either the theatre’s event calendar or ToriAmos.com, Tickets.com is the ticketing agency used by The Paramount so we are inclined to think this date will turn out to be true.

Update: Unsurprisingly, that listing has been removed from the search results on Tickets.com.

Second, Klassik Akzente, a classical music website that picked up on Tori as a result of Night of Hunters, reported on Unrepentant Geraldines today. The article was, for the most part, a rehash of last November’s press release but, at the end, noted that the record would be released on Friday, May 16th. If this release date holds true, that would likely mean a UK release on Monday, May 19th and a North American release on Tuesday the 20th. The May 23rd release date noted by Australian retailer JB HIFI would fit into this schedule nicely as Australian release dates often lag Europe and North America by a week or so.

Whether or not these bits of news hold true, of course, remains to be seen. Hopefully there will be an official announcement soon!

(By the way, we’re fairly confident that the March 18th release date mentioned in The Toronto Sun is off-the-mark as the number of release they have coming out during the week of March 18th is quite extensive! Most likely, the last group of albums should have been grouped under “The Rest of the Year.”)

Thanks to Chris P, Noah, Char for tipping us off about the above!

    Unexpected Photographs

    Wednesday, February 05, 2014 | 00:09 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

As the warm glow of The Light Princess reluctantly fades and Under the Pink’s anniversary passes in the distance, there’s naught left to do but turn our eyes to the future and Tori’s mysterious upcoming 2014 release, Unrepentant Geraldines.

The skimpy hints about the record dropped in the press release announcing the album and tour has fueled rampant speculation on what the record will be like, what it will be about, and even when it will be released.

Two months later, we’re still no closer to any concrete information about Unrepentant Geraldines but ToriAmos.com has thrown even more logs on the fire by posting a handful of behind-the-scenes images from the photo shoot for the album and the gritty, abandoned warehouse look is certainly not what we were expecting!

Of course, this is just the location so it remains to be seen what the visual theme will actually be…but this is definitely a bit of a curve ball which should get the gears revving even more…

Twenty Years Of Under The Pink!

    Saturday, February 01, 2014 | 00:26 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Twenty years ago today, January 31st, following a two week delay, Tori Amos’ second solo album Under the Pink, saw the light of day with its release in the United Kingdom and Europe. One day later, as is the custom, it was in North American stores as well.

And twenty years later, it still sounds as fresh and vibrant as it did then.

So, as the week draws to a close on the evening between its transatlantic anniversaries, we recommend you to rev up the turntable, spin up the CD player, power up your iPod or click on that Spotify playlist and give Pink a proper listen once again. Even if you’ve played it a thousand thousand times, you might hear something new this time. We certainly did.

(And if you’re looking for more Under the Pink love, head on over to After The Pink for a smorgasbord of photographs, artwork, and discussion inspired by and related to the album!)

    Geraldines, Come What May

    Thursday, December 19, 2013 | 12:44 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

As we’re into the annual slowdown while the year-end holidays are observed, we don’t anticipate any new news about either Tori’s forthcoming album Unrepentant Geraldines or the 2014 tour supporting it to be formally announced until the new year
starts. However, that doesn’t stop retailers from sometimes providing a little insight into when things might be expected and, sure enough, Australia’s JB HI-FI, which had already listed the album has added a release date: Friday, May 23, 2014 and is not taking pre-orders for it. Additionally, Direct Current Music has added Unrepentant Geraldines to their Upcoming Releases (in the left sidebar of every page on their site) with a release date of Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

So early indications are a late May release. Of course, this far ahead, that may just be a placeholder date so we’ll see…

Thanks Ryan and @onscarletswalk for the tips!

Flavor Reaches #1 On The Billboard Club Play Chart

    Saturday, March 02, 2013 | 21:18 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Congratulations to Tori and Peter Rauhofer for the ascent of Rauhofer’s remix of “Flavor” to the top of the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart for the week of March 9th! The remix entered the chart, which is compiled from a sample of DJs are playing in clubs across the United States, 10 weeks ago and has climbed steadily ever since, finally reaching the pinnacle this week.

Of course, this is not uncharted territory for Tori (so to speak) as this is her third song to reach #1 on Dance/Club Play chart. The previous two were remixes of “Professional Widow” in 1996 and “Jackie’s Strength” in 1999 so it’s been a while but it’s great to know that folks are still getting their groove on to Tori’s music!

Congratulations and hope this is a harbinger of more success in the future! (Hmmmm, _Light Princess” remix anyone?)

Gold Dust To See Japanese Release

    Wednesday, February 06, 2013 | 03:46 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

In a somewhat out-of-the-blue development, Gold Dust will be released in Japan by Universal Music on March 6, 2013.

According to the various online retailers which are listing it, the release will be a SHM-CD (Super High Material CD), a compact disc format that is compatible with regular CD player but purported to sound better on playback. More importantly, it will, as is often the case with Japanese releases, include bonus tracks. Specifically, it will include both “Snow Angel” and “Maybe California,” previously only available as bonus tracks for the digital download editions of the album on Amazon and iTunes.

The release can be pre-ordered from various Japanese retailers including Amazon, CD Japan, HMV and Tower.

Thanks to Yuta for the news about this release!

    Flavor Remix EP Released Today

    Tuesday, December 04, 2012 | 12:00 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

News of Peter Rauhofer’s “Flavor” remixes has been reported previously but, as ToriAmos.com has announced, an EP containing those remixes is released today digitally at Amazon.com and iTunes. Looks like a worldwide release too as the EP has been listed in nearly all the national Amazon and iTunes stores we’ve checked so far.

Unfortunately, the preview of the three remixes Peter Rauhofer had posted on Soundcloud a few weeks ago is no longer available, but the Radio Edit of the Club Mix was premiered by Perez Hilton…but you can listen to it here too:
