BBC Entertainment: Tori And The Paparazzi

    Tuesday, September 18, 2012 | 03:00 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

BBC Entertainment & News posted a video clip of Tori discussing her thoughts on the recent publication of topless photographs of Kate Middleton as well as her cautious nature with respect to being a public figure. Unfortunately, the BBC does not provide easy embedding but, of course, it’s already on YouTube:

There is a short bit of text attached to the clip which is reproduced here for posterity:

Tori Amos ‘very cautious’ of paparazzi

17 September 2012 Last updated at 10:10 ET

Tori Amos says she “never” wears a bikini – even in her own garden – because of the threat of paparazzi.

The singer told the BBC’s Tim Masters that she felt “awful” for the Duchess of Cambridge after pictures were published of her sunbathing while on a private holiday in France.

“It’s unfortunate that these are the times we’re in. I think it is awful what’s happened to her – she didn’t ask for that,” she said.

Clearly this is part of a longer interview so hopefully more of it will emerge as we get closer to the release of Gold Dust.

Thanks to tim and Irena for the pointer!

On The Catwalk With Bernard Chandran

    Tuesday, September 18, 2012 | 02:46 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries,TV/Radio/Web

This past Saturday was designer Bernard Chandran’s catwalk show for London Fashion Week and, having recently worn fashions designed by him in the video for “Flavor,” Tori was in attendance. Sitting right in the front row with daughter Natashya, she was hard to miss and it wasn’t long before several photos of them watching the show were making the rounds on the Internet.

Many thanks to @OggyYardanov, Nora Nona, and Paula Harrowing for sharing these shots!

Additionally, 55Factory chatted with Bernard Chandran, Lyne Renee and Tori following the show and threw the clips up on YouTube. “Tory” is the first person in the interview.

Tori On BBC Broadcasting House Today

    Sunday, September 16, 2012 | 16:03 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

After attending Bernard Chandran’s fashion show on Saturday, Tori joined comic Bridget Christie and journalist Miriam Gross to review the Sunday papers with Paddy O’Connell on BBC Radio 4’s Broadcasting House this morning. Stories they discussed ranged from Kate Middleton topless to elephants to pornography — lively discussion for a Sunday morning indeed!

The episode is on BBC iPlayer for the next seven days with the segment beginning around the 44 minute mark. It is also included in the Broadcasting House podcast for today (direct download link) where you can snag it for the next month.

Thanks to @FritchleyPaul for letting us know about this!

Tori Returns to ZDF MorgenMagazin in October

    Thursday, September 13, 2012 | 23:38 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Almost as a footnote to their post about the premiere of the “Flavor” video on Stern.de, Klassik Akzente mentions that Tori will return German television station ZDF’s morning program, Morgenmagazin, on October 15th.

At this time, ZDF’s schedule only extends through October 4th so this isn’t 100% confirmed yet but it would certainly make sense as Tori will be in Berlin for the Echo Klassik awards ceremony on the 14th (that, incidentally, will be broadcast on ZDF) and her concert at the Philharmonie on the evening of the 15th.

We’ll update once we know for sure. Thanks to velvet for the hot tip!

Amos and Radcliffe and Maconie Next Next Week

    Monday, September 10, 2012 | 10:51 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Tori will be swinging by BBC Radio 6 to join Radcliffe and Maconie on Monday, September 17th Tuesday, September 25th to talk about the release of Gold Dust. The rescheduled date is not listed on the BBC’s website yet but we received word from the program’s producer about the change.

The three hour program airs at 1:00 PM BST (8:00 AM Eastern, 5:00 AM Pacific) and, if you miss it or just want to listen again, will be available on-demand via the BBC iPlayer for a week afterwards.

Thanks to Kelly for the heads up!

    TimesTalksMadrid To Welcome Tori

    Tuesday, September 04, 2012 | 23:59 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

As part of TimesTalks Madrid, a special series of TimeTalks that will be taking place in Madrid, Spain over the weekend of September 22nd, Tori will appear in conversation with New York Times music critic Jon Pareles at the Teatro Fernán Gómez.

According to a press release about the series from the International Herald Tribune (the global face of The New York Times), the interview will be about Gold Dust, Tori’s forthcoming orchestral album that will be released at the start of October.

The interview will take place on Sunday, September 23rd at 9:00 PM CEST (3:00 PM Eastern, Noon Pacific) and is scheduled to last one hour. Tickets for the event can be reserved free of charge at the Teatro’s website.

Fortunately for the majority of us who probably can’t whisk off to Spain on a whim, the conversation will be webcast on TimesTalksMadrid.com and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the webcast added to the TimesTalk archive of podcasts and videos.

Thanks to Rachel and mkgtweety for passing this along!

Listen To The First Time With Tori

    Sunday, September 02, 2012 | 14:31 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

If you, like us, slept through the original airing of Tori’s appearance on The First Time earlier today on BBC 6 Music, you can stream it on BBC iPlayer for the next seven days. The hour-long interview by Matt Everitt touches on Tori’s earliest contact with music from listening to it to playing it , her first concert (Elton John), Y Kant Tori Read, dealing with the pressures of success, Strange Little Girls, Night of Hunters, and Tori’s take on women composers.

Curiously, there is no mention of Gold Dust during this interview so we suspect it was recorded longer ago than one might think given the nearness of that album’s release.

The music played during the interview included:

    Tori Amos – Professional Widow
The Doors – Light My Fire
    Led Zeppelin – Thank You
    Elton John – Tiny Dancer
    Tori Amos – Crucify
Tori Amos – Silent All These Years
    Tori Amos – Cornflake Girl
Tori Amos – Night Of Hunters
Erik Satie – Gnossienne No 1
    Tori Amos – Job’s Coffin

ETA: The program will also be rebroadcast on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 2 a.m. British time, or Saturday, Sept. 8 for folks in the U.S. More details here.

Tori Shares "The First Time" With BBC on Sunday

    Tuesday, August 28, 2012 | 22:09 UTC | Posted by Beth | TV/Radio/Web

On Sunday, Tori will appear on BBC6’s “The First Time,” an online-only radio show hosted by Matt Everitt. During the hour-long program, she will discuss “her early musical influences, her love of Joni Mitchell and classical music. She also remembers being allowed to see Elton John for the first time, aged 11; her relationship with her father who was a minister; how she dealt with the pressures of fame; and reveals what, and who, inspires her to make music.”

The program kicks off at noon GMT; listeners elsewhere should be able to stream it online or listen to the broadcast afterward. Thanks to Melissa and Kelly for sending this in.

Songza Features Tori's Gold Summer Playlist

    Wednesday, August 08, 2012 | 01:04 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Tori has created a playlist for Songza, a streaming music site that allows users to create, share and listen to others’ playlists.

Tori’s contribution is named the “Gold Summer Playlist,” a nod to her forthcoming album, Gold Dust, and features her “favorite summer songs.” The tunes included, ranging from old chestnuts to some surprising newer inclusions, will be shuffled over randomly every time you start listening to it.

Unfortunately, due to copyright and licensing restrictions, Songza is currently only available to those in the United States and Canada, but they hope to expand the service to other parts of the world soon. In the meantime, enterprising Toriphiles should be able to stream the playlist on Songza without too much trouble via a proxy server…or perhaps someone would care to build a playlist from the songs on Spotify or one of the other streaming music services that has more world-wide access?

Check out the tunes from the playlist after the jump — or just give it a listen and find out what’s included yourself.
