Big Morning Buzz Live Welcomes Tori!

    Saturday, December 03, 2011 | 18:00 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Tori made a quick appearance on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live on Friday, December 2nd to chat with host Carrie Keegan.

Fortunately for those with day jobs and/or without DVRs, VH1 has posted video of the interview on their site.

After showing off her “crucifixion shoes,” Tori talked about producing and recording Night of Hunters, the presence of her daughter Natashya and niece Kelsey on the record, her hypothetical son, and, during the “Buzzer” section, reveals that the song she most wants to cover is Queen’s “Killer Queen!” Hmmm. Yeah, we can get behind that.

    Check out the interview below!

And, while we’re on the topic of VH1, Tori also got to Pass The Bowl, as part of their on-going interview series where celebrities contribute a question to their their bowl and then answer a question drawn at random from those previously submitted. Snagged from the VH1 Tumblr, here’s Tori’s question and answer:

Dane Cook: Describe the coolest moment of your life. Something that made you feel badass.

Tori Amos: [After asking the present VH1 staffers what made them feel badass.] For me, I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin and my father had told me that “that devil music” was going to send me to hell. And so, his mother was a missionary and my dad was a minister – we weren’t allowed to listen to Jim Morrison and I was not allowed to go to a Led Zeppelin concert – never going to happen, no way. Because good Christian girls did not go and watch him move those hips. So, when I met him and he asked if I would sing with him, that was one of the most wonderful moments. I called my father and said “I am here, singing with the devil.”

By the way, they’ll be giving away ten copies signed of Night of Hunters on Friday after the segment with Tori. Like Big Morning Buzz Live on Facebook to get details about how to win ‘em!

Yesterday, Sundance Channel premiered new short film for the song “Star Whisperer” from Night of Hunters. You can watch it on their SUNfiltered blog, their Digital Shorts channel (which also has the Night of Hunters trailer and the “Carry” video) or on the Tori Amos Facebook page.

Or, for that matter, right here. Enjoy!

Top Billing Drops A Clip From Their Tori Interview

    Wednesday, November 30, 2011 | 23:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

The interview Tori did for the South African television program Top Billing aired yesterday on SABC3. A rebroadcast of this week’s program is scheduled for 11:00 AM SAST on Sunday. So far, the full interview hasn’t appeared anywhere that we’re aware of but they did post a photo album on Facebook which include many behind-the-scene pictures from the interview and shared a minute-long clip from the interview on YouTube. Hopefully they — or someone else — will share the full piece sooner or later! In the meantime, though, here’s the clip:

Note: Top Billing is running a contest this week. Five winners will received autographed copies of Night of Hunters. The entry deadline is Friday, December 9th so you have a few more days if you’d like to give it a go. Full details and entry info is at their website.

    Upcoming eTown Rebroadcast

    Wednesday, November 30, 2011 | 23:13 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

The American public radio program eTown will be rerunning the episode from 2009 that featured Tori and Loudon Wainwright III between December 7 and 13.

Recorded at Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom and originally aired in December 2009, the program featured a lengthy set by Tori to promote the release of Midwinter Graces — check our recap of the performance to see what was played.

To catch the rebroadcast, find a radio station in your area that carries the show — it can be heard internationally too so this isn’t a US-only thing for a change! The program should be available online once the air date trundles along and should also pop up in the eTown podcast as well.

Thanks to Lorna for the tip!

    Reminder: Tori On WFUV Tonight!

    Monday, November 28, 2011 | 23:53 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Don’t forget! Tori will be Darren DeVevo’s guest during Words and Music From Studio A tonight on WFUV at 9:00 PM Eastern (about 2 hours from when this is posted).

If you’re in or around the New York City area, listen on the old-fashioned radio by tuning in at 90.7 on the olde FM dial or listen online using their new-fangled Flash player or, if you prefer, the old-fangled Windows Media/MP3/AAC streams.

To get you in the mood, here are three songs from the session, “Edge of the Moon,” “Carry” and “Nautical Twilight,” that WFUV has posted on YouTube. Enjoy!

Tori To Swing By VH1's Big Morning Buzz

    Sunday, November 27, 2011 | 19:04 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Even though there’s no mention of it on their website or Facebook yet, Tori will be one of the guests on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz this Wednesday, November 30th. The program airs at 9:00 AM Eastern/Pacific. VH1 makes clips from their episodes available for streaming after the broadcast so hopefully those who miss it will be able to catch it online…one way or another.

Thanks to MK for the tip and the TV listings on woj’s DVR for the confirmation — zap2it’s listing has her on the show too.

Note: we wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more television appearances — either national or local — pop up as the North American tour progresses through the month. If you hear of any, please let us know so we can help get the word out.

    DStv Interview (November 22, 2011)

    Sunday, November 27, 2011 | 19:04 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles,TV/Radio/Web

It has to be a conversation so I, as Tori, have to get out of the way, and allow the songs to take over my being. The piano, itself, plays me. If you can surrender like that, you really just become a vessel, and that’s a tremendous charge for me. We’re magical beings.

Tori was DStv’s Artist of the Week last week and their post about her includes both a video piece with some interview clips and an article about her visit to South Africa, the making of Night of Hunters and performing. Check out the video, which they also kindly posted on YouTube, below and jump the cut for the article.
