Scotsman ADP Review (April 27, 2007)

    Monday, April 30, 2007 | 00:11 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews

Fiona Shepard reviewed American Doll Posse for the April 27th edition of The Scotsman. She’s quite impressed by the record but a little mystified by the Posse. Read on for the review or read it on The Scotsman’s website.

Thanks to Toni for the link!

    Canadian Promo on April 30th

    Sunday, April 29, 2007 | 23:31 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

On Monday, April 30th, Tori will be one of the guests on Canada AM. The program airs on CTV from 6:30 to 9:00 AM throughout Canada (except in the Maritimes when it starts an hour later, but it never hurts to check your local listings). Thanks to Tanya, Christian and Ursa for the tip!

Update: The National Post reports on Robert Lowrey, the person responsible for delivering the Bösendorfer Imperial Concert Grand to the Canada AM studio Monday morning.

Also, we are told that Tori will be doing an interview for The Loop on MuchMoreMusic which will air sometime during the week. The Loop is MuchMoreMusic’s newsbreak and airs three minutes before the hour between 4pm and 9pm Eastern time during the week and there is a half-hour long version broadcast during the weekend at 11 AM ET Saturday and 11 PM ET Sunday.

"Borders Exclusive" Track: "Drive All Night"

    Saturday, April 28, 2007 | 12:08 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

A special bonus track called “Drive All Night” will be available as a “Borders Exclusive” download.

We don’t know if this song will ever turn up anywhere else or not. We also don’t know if this is only available in-store or if you get to download the track if you’ve purchased from Borders online (we would imagine so).

Update: As if things weren’t already confusing enough with all the different editions, a Borders employee tells us this track will ONLY be offered when you purchase the “Borders Exclusive” standard (meaning CD-only) edition of ADP, not the special edition CD/DVD combo set. The sale price of the Borders Exclusive edition will be $15.99 in the U.S.

    Thanks, Randy.

    Tori's Star 98.7 Appearance

    Saturday, April 28, 2007 | 05:50 UTC | Posted by Violet | TV/Radio/Web

    The power of orange pajamas

Tori performed in the Star 98.7 “Guitar Center Studio” in Burbank, CA earlier today (April 27th).

Natalie tells us Tori sang “Roosterspur Bridge,” “Beauty of Speed,” and “A Sorta Fairytale.” The performace was recorded for the station’s Star Lounge program and is expected to air on the radio this Sunday, April 29th, at 10am and again on Tuesday, May 1st, at 8am.

When the time comes, you can listen to the stream online.

    Photos Of Lyrics

Thanks for sharing these, Alexandra! (She’s also transcribing them over this way, for those of you who are interested.)

Tori On Sirius Satellite Radio May 1st

    Friday, April 27, 2007 | 22:05 UTC | Posted by Violet | TV/Radio/Web

    From everythingtori.com:

On May 1, 2007 (release day!!) at 8p EST, Tori will be performing live from New York on Sirius Satellite Radio. An interview will follow her performance. Tori wants to offer her fans the opportunity to listen to Tuesday’s performance live, without subscribing to Sirius. Pretty awesome, right? Mark your calendars and stay tuned for the link that will offer you three days of streaming for free…

This will be live from the album release party in NYC, and for those of you who do get Sirius, it will air live on May 1st at 8pm on The Spectrum (ch. 18). (Click to see what time that is in your time zone.)

We do not subscribe to Sirius, so we don’t really know how it works, but it seems that U.S. residents who are members (or who have trial memberships) will be able to listen to the show live via the Sirius website. There’s a version for Canada as well (link at the bottom of the page), but they may have different programming.

Thanks to Lisa, tmosaori, and Jen.

    Craig Ferguson Sneak Peak

    Friday, April 27, 2007 | 13:20 UTC | Posted by Violet | TV/Radio/Web

Tori taped her guest appearance for Craig Ferguson yesterday (air date May 17th).

Lisa tells us, “Tori played ‘Big Wheel’ and ‘Bouncing Off Clouds’ with Matt and Jon and then did a short interview with Craig. She wore her Tori wig and a magenta sparkly dress with black lace stockings for ‘Big Wheel’ — similar dress as the bungalow photo — then changed into sorta a suit-like grey outfit but with shorts over the black stockings. She seemed in good spirits!”

Jason posted about the experience in great detail over on his blog.

Thanks to both of them for sharing with everyone!

    Tori Billboard Mosaic

    Friday, April 27, 2007 | 02:11 UTC | Posted by Violet | Toriphiles

Several of you have asked if we’ve heard anything else about the giant Tori billboard mosaic that fans submitted photos for back in December.

We’ve asked Tori’s reps what’s up with this, but haven’t had any luck getting them to comment. We can only hope that the collage is still being worked on and news will turn up on it at some point.

    The Guardian's ADP Review

    Friday, April 27, 2007 | 01:56 UTC | Posted by Violet | Reviews

Caroline Sullivan reviews American Doll Posse today on The Guardian’s website, giving the album 4 out of 5 stars. (“Folk?” Really?) Thanks, Pete.

It’s ninth-album time and Amos is about as fashionable as carbohydrates these days, but she remains one of the most ambitious conceptual songwriters on a major label. There are five Toris on the cover – warrior Tori, hippy Tori, voodoo Tori clutching rooster – each of whom symbolises a facet of womanhood. The aim of the 23 songs is to reassemble the segments into a cohesive whole, in the hope of “rousing 18-year-olds to wake up and make [political] choices”. It’s a tall order, but she makes an inspiring role model, answerable only to her fierce, funny self. Some of her best work in years is here: a solemn, witty shout-out to the commander-in-chief titled Yo George (“I have an allergy to your policies’”), the echo-laden rocker You Can Bring Your Dog, which bawdily likens people to pets, and the distorted squall of Code Red. There’s far too much, though; cut to 10 tracks it would have been her one of her most significant records.
