Lucy O'Brien Acquitted Of "K" Word Usery Charges

    Friday, April 27, 2007 | 00:18 UTC | Posted by Violet | Minutiae

Interviewer Lucy O’Brien has been cleared of all charges that she used “the horrid ‘k’ word” in her recent Mojo Magazine article.

Lucy assures Undented that she would “never, as a point of principle, use the horrible ‘k’ word to describe a female artist! Blame ‘kookstress’ on the sub-editor who wrote the headline intro.”

Done! The hounds have been dispatched to fetch this naughty sub-editor and “convince” him/her to renounce their wicked ways.

    US Weekly's ADP Review

    Thursday, April 26, 2007 | 23:56 UTC | Posted by Violet | Reviews

Corey sent us US Weekly’s review of American Doll Posse. They give the album 3.5 out of 4 stars and say:

On her ninth solo album, Tori Amos sings in the personae of five different women, including a photographer named Isabel who croons about political issues and Santa, a single girl who’s created a MySpace page. Is the mother of one, 43 — and a wife of sound engineer Mark Hawley (who helped on the CD) — having a midcareer identity crisis? Hardly. Amos sounds like her old soulful self on tracks such as the haunting “Girl Disappearing” the danceable “Bouncing Off Clouds” and the funny first single “Big Wheel” (in which she calls herself a “MILF”). The voices in Amos’ head rarely hit a sour note.

    Posse Roll Call: Santa

    Thursday, April 26, 2007 | 21:38 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

The latest Tori newsletter introduces Santa. You can also check out her blog.

Santa relates to Aphrodite and is the sensualist of the quintet. “Santa is somebody who’s a girl’s girl,” Tori says. “She understands her fellow sisters and she believes that there is enough love and passion out there for everyone. But she won’t accept that there is something perverted about being very sensual and she won’t drink shame with her sensuality.”

“I’ve never been America’s sweetheart or the church’s sweetheart. That’s OK. I’ve never said I was the sweet drink at the wedding – I think I’m more of a dirty martini.” — Tori Amos

Here’s a recent article from the New York Post in which Tori very quickly touches on the creation of “Big Wheel” and the meaning behind the Bible/shame photo. Thanks to lucy, franco, Speedbliss, and Jay.
