    Posse Roll Call: Pip

    Thursday, April 19, 2007 | 22:20 UTC | Posted by Beth | Releases

The latest Tori newsletter introduces Pip and offers a clip of Pip’s “Teenage Hustling” along with the “Big Wheel” vid. You can also check out her blog by following the link. Next week’s Doll will be Santa.

Pip represents Athena and swaggers her way through the driving “Teenage Hustling” and duets with Santa on “Body and Soul.” Tori says, “Pip, being the warrior that she is, does confront issues and sometimes it’s explosive, but I really love her energy.”

Josh Radin, Seth Lakeman Opening for Tori in Europe

    Thursday, April 19, 2007 | 18:17 UTC | Posted by Beth | Touring

Alexander tipped us off to the fact that acoustic singer-songwriter Joshua Radin will be opening for Tori on part of the European leg of her American Doll Posse tour. While Joshua will open for Tori from the June 17 show in Berlin to the July 4 show in London, English folk singer Seth Lakeman will open from the May 28 show in Rome to the June 13 show in Copenhagen. (Thanks to Fabz and BMac for the news on this.)

Joshua’s songs have earned recent play on popular TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs, and another of his songs, “Only You,” was remixed by Imogen Heap. Seth’s music has won a number of awards, both solo and with his group The Lakeman Brothers, with siblings Sean and Sam. Head to their Web sites to find out more.

    Tori Gets "Loose"

    Thursday, April 19, 2007 | 18:05 UTC | Posted by Beth | TV/Radio/Web

Tori appeared on ITV’s “Loose Women” program today in England, gave a short interview, and performed two songs, “Velvet Revolution” and “Programmable Soda.” During the show, Tori wore her long red wig and a silver-and-black dress. She discussed the Posse girls, the makeup and clothes she’s using for those girls, and reiterated the line about having needed to “play kooky for the Brits.” (She apparently got pretty friendly with some bikers, too.)

If anyone’s got a complete transcript of the interview, send it over!

Rich, Mel, Barbara, and Stuart, thanks for filling us in!

EW's Take On "Big Wheel" Vid

    Thursday, April 19, 2007 | 17:53 UTC | Posted by Beth | Releases,TV/Radio/Web

Entertainment Weekly offers a quick review of the “Big Wheel” video”:

Perhaps there’s a subliminal message embedded in the pixilation technique Tori Amos uses to animate herself in her new video for “Big Wheel,” but I’ve now played it three times in a row, and would definitely play it again if I wasn’t worried about driving my coworkers absolutely batty. (Oh, who am I kidding? Again! Again!) Seriously, though, aside from a mix of saucy-dame outfits and a few simple props — a cigarette holder, a martini glass, a chicken, to name a few — the clip couldn’t have cost much. And yet it doesn’t look low-rent at all. Not only that, but the song’s a winner, too. I mean, if you’re going to shout letters over a thumping piano line, “I-I-I am a M.I.L.F./Don’t you forget” kinda beats “This s—- is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S,” no? But don’t take my word. Click here to check out “Big Wheel” for yourself, courtesy of the good folks at Yahoo Music.

We don’t necessarily agree with EW, mind you, but we’re glad this video is making some people happy. Kudos to Roel and Lenore for passing this our way.

How Tori Will Dress Her 'Living Dolls'

    Wednesday, April 18, 2007 | 05:59 UTC | Posted by Beth | Articles,Releases,Touring

Amos prefers to support up-and-coming designers, so when planning this tour, she and Binns showcased emerging London designers in a variety of ways for the five dissimilar members. “When I think of Tori, I think of Freddy Mercury from Queen or David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust. When they were on stage, they gave you a bloody show,” says Binns.

Joe sent in a new article from Women’s Wear Daily about how Tori and her stylist, Karen Binns, decked out the Dolls.

Joey From Jer Z on the Doll Poss E.

    Wednesday, April 18, 2007 | 02:20 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews

Joe Vallese, aka Joey from Jer Z, has posted a rather thoughtful review of American Doll Posse on his blog.

“Just why do they say,” Tori Amos ponders on her latest effort, American Doll Posse, “have a nice day anyway?” On a political scale, there’s relatively little to smile about these days, of which Amos is well aware, and yet, she’s managed to put out her most raucous, infectiously foot-tapping, and pleasingly eclectic record to date. So what gives?

Head on over to the post to read the rest of his analysis of the record.
