Charitybuzz Addresses Tori Touring in 2011

    Thursday, February 03, 2011 | 23:12 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Following the news about the charity auction to meet Tori at a show in 2011, several intrepid Toriphiles contacted charitybuzz to find out if they knew anything specific about plans for Tori to go out on tour.

In responses via Twitter, charitybuzz has indicated that Tori will be headlining a tour this year and that more details should be forthcoming in the coming weeks on ToriAmos.com. Additionally, they spilled more beans in response to several folks’ e-mail queries, saying that the tour would cover Europe in October and North America in November.

Obviously, the end of the year is a ways away and this isn’t official confirmation by any means but it does give some hope that Tori will return to the road this year though, of course, only time will tell…

Thanks to @NicotineLove, @needmoregames and Belinda for digging in the dirt!

True Colors Fund Auction: Meet Tori On Tour...In 2011?

    Wednesday, February 02, 2011 | 16:42 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

While there’s been nary a whisper about any live shows for Tori in 2011 and she has stated she probably would not tour again until after The Light Princess musical opens in 2012, the fine folks at Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund have included an opportunity to meet Tori at “a 2011 show of your choice” in their 2011 Winter Online Auction.

What this means, of course, is completely unclear at this point. Tori could be planning a tour, she could be planning a few one-off shows like the brief tour in Europe last summer or, given the beneficiary of the auction, perhaps she will make an appearance at one or more as-of-yet-unannounced True Colors Tour events this year. Then again, knowing our heroine, it could be something completely unexpected! Only time will tell…

In the meantime, the auction is running at charityBUZZ until Thursday, February 10th at 1:00 PM Eastern time and we’re crossing our fingers that this foreshadows some live dates in the coming year!

Tori's "Princess" Musical Will See The Light

    Wednesday, January 26, 2011 | 22:35 UTC | Posted by Beth | Cherries

The London Evening Standard and the BBC revealed today that Tori’s musical based on George MacDonald’s The Light Princess is scheduled to take the stage in London in April of 2012. It’s been a while since we wrote about it, so here’s a quick refresher: The Light Princess tells the story of a girl who is exempt from the laws of gravity, and who winds up disconnected from Earth for most of her childhood. According to the BBC, Tori’s production still has no title. Thanks to the many of you who wrote in this morning to tell us the news!

Boys for Pele is fifteen years old (and fifteen years and a day in Europe). We know how we’ll be celebrating.

Help Pandora's Project Win a Pepsi Refresh Grant!

    Thursday, January 20, 2011 | 21:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Toriphiles

Many of you know of Pandora’s Project, a nonprofit organization that provides support and information to survivors of rape and sexual abuse via the Pandora’s Aquarium message board. The organization, founded by long-time Toriphile Shannon, has been inspired by Tori since its beginnings and has enjoyed Tori’s support as well.

Many may also recall a campaign to help them win a grant a couple years ago. Well, they are aiming to win another. This time, it’s a $25,000 Pepsi Refresh grant to fund retreats offering healing programs and community for survivors of sexual violence who may not otherwise have these resources available to them.

The top 10 vote-getters during the month of January will receive these grants and currently Pandora’s Project is in the 11th spot. So, while they are very close to qualifying, they need our help to achieve the goal! Here’s how to help:

    1. Text 103598 to Pepsi (73774) for those in the US.
    2. Vote online using your Facebook account or Pepsi Refresh account. At refr.es/pandora, click “Vote” next to Pandora’s Project’s idea. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll need to click the Vote button once again.

Voting ends on January 31st. You can vote for up to 10 projects at the Pepsi Refresh website each day, so please swing by daily and cast a vote for Pandora’s Project as well as the other projects listed at that URL that are supporting Pandora’s Project. Thanks!

"Spirit Walk" Writer Unveils "Little Earthquakes" Interview

    Wednesday, January 12, 2011 | 21:31 UTC | Posted by Beth | TV/Radio/Web

Joe Jackson, the journalist whose My spirit walk with Tori Amos piece addresses his 1994 interview with Tori in which she dug deep into the topic of her sexual assault, is back with more early interviews from our favorite fiery-haired pianist. This time, it’s a Q&A Jackson conducted with Tori around the time Little Earthquakes was released. Unfortunately, these audio tracks aren’t freebies, but you can listen to short clips and purchase the full interview in the Shop section of Jackson’s site. Click through the musician photos at the bottom of the page and select Tori’s photo to see and purchase the interview.

Tori Rhymes And Reasons On The BBC

    Wednesday, January 05, 2011 | 01:27 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Update: If you missed the program, which turned out to be a rather nice chat between Tori and the host about Tori’s favorite poets and included her reciting a couple poems on-air, you can listen to it on the BBC iPlayer until next Tuesday (January 18th) when the next episode of the show replaces it. We hope to have a transcript of the interview posted shortly for posterity as well.

Tori returns to the BBC Radio airwaves next Tuesday when she joins host Mr. Gee on the new Radio 4 program(me) Rhyme and Reason to discuss the influence of poetry on her life and music.

Check it out on Tuesday, January 11th at 11:00 PM UK time. You can stream Radio 4 online or tune in via an assortment of broadcast or digital means.

The first episode of this new series, in which Mr. Gee speaks with Florence Welch, is archived through next Tuesday if you want to get a taste of what the show will be like.

Thanks to Shireen86 for catching this!

Radio 6 Broadcasts Tori's Concert With The Metropole

    Tuesday, December 21, 2010 | 01:16 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Earlier tonight, Dutch radio station Radio 6 broadcast a portion of the concert Tori performed with The Metropole Orchestra back in October on the program Radio 6 Live.

Unfortunately, the broadcast was only a hour long and, as a result, did not include the entire performance. The songs aired were Star of Wonder, Jackie’s Strength, Our New Year, Silent All These Years, Flying Dutchman, Maybe California, Holly, Ivy and Rose, Snow Angel, Programmable Soda, Yes Anastasia and Winter. Songs performed but not broadcast were Snow Cherries From France, Baker Baker, Marianne, Girl Disappearing and Precious Things. Youtube videos of all can be found on our Tour page for the show.

If you missed the broadcast, you can stream it from Radio 6’s archive.

PS22 Chorus Heads To The Red Carpet

    Saturday, December 18, 2010 | 19:06 UTC | Posted by Beth | Minutiae

Many of you may recall our focus on The PS22 Chorus, known for their gorgeous interpretations of Tori’s songs — as well as the music of many other popular musicians. Well, Mr. B and the gang got the news yesterday, by way of Anne Hathaway no less, that they’ll be performing at the Oscars in February. They were understandably thrilled out of their minds. No word yet on what they’ll be performing. Check out the video:

Thanks to Melissa and Randy for the news! (We just hope there are enough Alexander McQueen dresses for the whole gang.)
