Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages since we often post quickie updates there when we're on-the-go.
During tours, we do our best to cover setlists in real-time on Twitter. If you want to tweet a show in, just DM or @ us on the day and tell us to watch your stream that night.
Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
Several people — including yours truly — were pleased to report that the lithograph mentioned in the previous story is being offered with purchases of Abnormally Attracted to Sin across the country.
I confirmed that they will be available from Exile on Main here in southern Connecticut while others have seen them advertised from Plan 9 Music in Richmond, Vintage Vinyl in New Jersey, Shake It Records in Cincinnati, and Newbury Comics in the Boston area, just to name a few stores.
Since several data points make a trend, we think it’s safe to say that this promotion is happening — based on the anecdotal evidence — at independent record stores across the United States.
So if you’re still looking for someplace worthwhile to give your hard-earned cash in exchange for Abnormally Attracted to Sin, want to support locally-owned small businesses and get something neat in the process, check out your local indie record store!
Thanks to Terry, Matt, Marci, Jenn, Jen and Derek for advance scouting!
Eda reports that she picked up copies of Abnormally Addicted to Sin at Rhino Records in California and received a lithograph — pictured to the right — along with her purchase. While there have been promotions like this for some of Tori’s previous records (as recently as American Doll Posse where independent record stores were giving away a lithograph with copies of that album) this is the first we’ve heard of such an offer for Abnormally Attracted to Sin. If anyone else comes across this lithograph deal, please let us know, as we’re sure everyone would like to know if it was something that Rhino Records did on their own or if there is another nationwide promotion in place.
Matt points out that “Welcome to England” has charted on Billboard’s Triple A Single chart. After debuting last week at #29, it’s moved up to #17 this week.
Additionally, marco let us know that the “Maybe California” ringtone debuted as the #1 ringtone in Portugal per the Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa. Pretty impressive! Hopefully Tori takes notice and decides to visit the Iberian peninsula during the European tour.
If any happens to come across chart information for the new record or songs from it, please let us know!
As announced by our friends at Everything Tori, Abnormally Attracted to Sin can be streamed in its entirety at Tori’s Myspace page and The Guardian (presumably to make up for Anna Pickard.) Note that The Guardian’s stream includes the UK bonus track “Oscar’s Theme” as well.
Both streams will be up through Tuesday when the album is released. Enjoy!
Thanks to doiron and the many others who let us know about this!
Update: Germans can also stream the whole record from Universal Music.
Out.com has posted an exclusive video clip in which Tori describes the inspiration for the song “Fire To Your Plain”:
Looks like this was taken from the same interview as the Ophelia interview so one assumes that more of these clips may surface before (and after) the record is out world-wide.
Thanks to Noah for letting us know!
Our friends at SameSame.com.au have a big scoop this morning (yeah I know, it’s their evening): a complete set of the visualettes from the new record. While many had already appeared on various websites and virtual storefronts, it’s nice to have them all in one place for one’s pleasure. If you’re so inclined and don’t want to spoil the surprise, take a peek and, if you like what you see, consider picking up the special edition of the new album as it features a DVD containing all these short films.
Update: Unfortunately, despite receiving the visualettes from Universal Republic completely on the up-and-up, they’ve been asked to remove all except for “Welcome to England” and “Maybe California.” Guess we’ll all just have to buy the Deluxe Edition…
If you’re one of the fossils like me who still buy physical releases of albums, it’s probably worth noting that your local record shoppe may jump the gun a bit and sell you the album a day or two early. For instance, several people have reported that the standard edition of Abnormally Attracted to Sin is already available at some JB Hi-Fi stores in Australia. The release date down there is Friday, May 15th so just a day or so early. The same goes for much of Europe where the release date is also Friday, but we wouldn’t be surprised to hear about some stores in the UK or North America doing this as well, even though the release date in those markets is early next week. Something to keep your eyes out for if you are jonesin’ for the album, in any case!
In the lull running up to this recent spate of album and tour news, we completely neglected to mention that Comic Book Tattoo was nominated in two categories for the 2009 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards! This anthology from last year which, as you may recall, fused comics and Tori’s music, has been recognized in the Best Anthology and Best Publication Design categories. We’ll find out the results in July at Comic-Con — one year after that very same event launched Comic Book Tattoo into the world.
Additionally, we just got word that Comic Book Tattoo is on the “long list” for a British Fantasy Award in the Best Comic/Graphic Novel category.
So, sincere, if belated, congratulations to editor Rantz Hoseley, designer Tom Mueller, the rest of the anthology’s creators, Tori, and Image Comics for these recognitions of a job well done! Our appendages are crossed for all three!
Universal Republic has posted a video clip which looks to be from a press kit for Abnormally Attracted to Sin on YouTube. It’s a few minutes long and includes bits from several visualettes as well as Tori talking about the forthcoming album and touring (get ready Russia!).
Thanks to Unnusti for the tip-off!
Speaking of Australia, George let us know that “Welcome to England” is now available at the Australian iTunes store. Unlike here in the States, it’s being sold as an EP and includes two additional album tracks: “Maybe California” and “Fire To Your Plain.”
Thanks for the tip!
